I haven't watched Watchmen. But if what you're saying true, explain why other shows also with diverse casts (like "The Expanse") aren't called SJW? Like Cop said above it has quite a few black cast members. I never read the Watchman comics but I did see the movie(I actually liked the extended cut that was like 3 hours long). I was happy to see that the show didn't just try and remake the movie over the course of a series but went its own way. Characters that were white in the movie were black in the show. It has very prominent black characters and the whole thing is solidly anti-racist, I think that is why it got called SJW. The anti-racism stuff is the backdrop of the time period the show is set in American history, it is more about the relationship between the characters especially as the show goes on. I don't watch much TV these days and it is one of the last shows I have seen all the way through recently. Doesn't look like there is another season coming soon: www.tvinsider.com/939932/watchmen-season-2-potential-damon-lindelof-regina-king/Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the movie. Since you said it's not a remake of the movie, I'll give it a watch. I don't have a problem with it if it's purely a anti-racist message. What I don't care for is when they pander to identity politics (i.e. certain races are great and should be proud for being that race, and white ppl should be ashamed of being white), as if it's normal for there to be any sort of pecking order among the races. imo, that shit has the opposite effect that's supposedly intended and increases racism, because it clearly teaches ppl to distinguish between and feel differently about people based on race/s, and prioritizing race over individualism. It has the effect of further dividing people. I'm for unity, not dividing. Also, don't care for excessive virtue signaling (proverbial waving the SJW flag for all to see to in order to attain favoritism & preferential treatment among peers), since there are often self-serving socioeconomic motives behind that sort of thing. Better to simplify things and understand that every person is a unique individual and respect the individual, respect each person for who they are. Like Morgan Freeman said, if you want racism to go away, call every person by their name and not by their race.

Nearly at the end of Mr. Robot season 2. Season 1 was great, but the finale of it is what made me want to keep watching. Season 2 has also been really good, can't wait to see more. They referenced Micro Center in season 2, I thought that was awesome. They also showed the inside of one of the stores, looked it up, it was in NYC. There's one near where I live, it's probably the best computer/electronics store I've ever been to. *edit* Wow they also showed a Fry's Electronics in an aftercredits scene in the season 2 finale.
*edit* Watched the first 3 seasons on Amazon, turns out I'm able to watch season 4 on usanetwork.com signed in with my cable subscription. There's commercials but they're not too bad. The show could've definitely concluded with season 3 but I'm glad they made another season.
{CLICK FOR SPOILER} The split-personality thing that Elliot has was definitely inspired by Fight Club.

Sixteen Candles (Bluray): Another Arrow release, of maybe the most '80s film ever made. Molly Ringwald is all kinds of cute in this flick but it's Anthony Michael Hall that steals the show as the confident nerd destined to score it with a 'babe', which is implied he does, with an unconscious girl, lol, the '80s So many hilarious little scenes, still so recognisable in spite of it all being almost 40 yeats old... The Car (Bluray): Speaking of old, this movie is even older but thanks to another quality Arrow bluray, it looks just about impeccable. Movies like these remind me of why American movies made such an impact when I was a kid, and why these older movies will alwaus be superior in a way: Amazing looking scenery, desert and mountains, '70s land-barges as police cars and reasonably good acting, with time for emotions and silence. Basically Jaws on land with a menacing looking car as the big bad monster, it follows all the tropes of the genre to a tee and I love it... Spree (Download): A movie I had already skipped thinking it would be really annoying being a 'social media film' but then Kevin Smith recommended it in Fatman Beyond so I decided to give it a shot. I was right the first time. I liked the finale and the end credits but everything up to that point annoyed me just as much as I thought it would... Lava (Download): Weird Argentinian animated movie that I don't particulary know what it's about. It's very meta with the characters knowing they're in an animated movie and sometimes comment on the quality of animation. Had its moments but overall it wasn't good enough. The story was impossible to follow, the animation was pretty crappy and the tone was all over the place...

The Mist (Bluray): I really wanted to show the kids this one and it looks like it was a success as well. Not too surprising, it is an awesome movie after all. Even the wife stayed around for most of it...
Street Trash (Bluray): Superb looking (French) bluray of somewhat of a cult classic '80s movie that I can't say I'm that big a fan of, but I like it well enough, especially if it looks like this. For reference material, the short movie on which this was based was also included on the disc and that looks about how you'd expect the full film to look, lol. Makes about as much sense as the full movie as well...
Snatchers (Bluray): Cult classic to be, this tale of 2 girls having to deal with a flash pregnancy of one of them after just having sex once, the day before, turns out it's alien monsters. Extremely funny, well edited and enough practical gore (and passable CG) to satisfy anyone...
Snowpiercer (Bluray): Wanted to rewatch this since I saw the series but kind of forgot about it until last night, when I finally watched the last movie in the unwatched pile (Street Trash) and needed to browse the collection for something to see. While it's basically the same, it's a completely different beast. The series certainly has its merits, having more time to explore the world and answer all the questions about particular train specifics that you just have to accept in the movie, but then that's not what the movie is about. That being said, I did run into a gaping plot hole right at the end. *spoiler* so the aim of the Korean guy is to open the door to be able to get off the train and that's why he's been collecting all that Kronos, but why didn't he just blow out a window instead?
Gamer (Bluray): Fun little movie that's actually pretty good in predicting the future concerning social media and shit...

{CLICK FOR SPOILER} The split-personality thing that Elliot has was definitely inspired by Fight Club. Agree. Possibly some inspiration from "12 Monkeys" thrown in too, in the scene with two different Elliot's both existing in an alternate/branched off (reality or dreamland/delusion), and leaves the audience questioning for a while what's Elliot's reality and what's fantasy.
The movie "Upgrade" uses similar plot device. Similarly, the main character gets mind F'd and his consciousness trapped.

The show was so successful that they did a 4th season two years after season 3, even though they originally only planned 3 seasons. There's really great acting/dialogue between Elliot Alderson (played by "Rami Malek") and Mr Robot (played by Christian Slater), and others. Season 2 is bit of a let down imo, but seasons 3 & 4 are really good. Started watching it, almost on the 2nd season now. I noticed that Prime has the seasons 1-3 but not 4, unless you buy it. So far it's a really good show though.
I also tried watching The Expanse but I found it boring, might give it another try later on though.
I came across a science article (link below) that reminded me of the Expanse. It seems this research (metallic hydrogen) has the same potential as the human invention (in the show, explained in one or two episodes) that massively increases the energy of rocket propellant, quadruple the speed of our fastest rockets, and allow humans to explore the outer planets. getpocket.com/explore/item/holy-grail-metallic-hydrogen-is-going-to-change-everything?utm_source=pocket-newtab

I finished Mr Robot. Overall, really good show, I think I'd even say it was as good as Breaking Bad. The last few episodes were crazy. Haven't watched anymore of The Expanse yet, I do need a new show to watch now so I'll give it another try. Recently saw Bad Boys for Life it wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed the first 2, they aren't the best movies of all time but the action and comedy is great. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are still a great duo on-screen.
Bought Bill and Ted Face the Music on VUDU, looks like studios are releasing movies in theaters and on digital at the same time lately because of the pandemic. It will unlock on Friday, gonna watch it then. Can't tell much from the trailers but I hope the plot's not just a rehash of the first 2 movies. Also liked the first 2 movies of that series back when I saw them, they're classics in their own way.

You weren't wrong about the Expanse though. The Expanse was hard to follow at times, it could get slow/boring with too much talking and not enough action. It gradually gets better as they introduce some alien stuff and the character development progresses. I wouldn't say the show ever gets epic though (it's nothing like Star Wars). While watching it, sometimes I thought they probably only made the show because Jeff Bezos owns Amazon Prime and a rocket company too (he's interested in human exploration of the solar system) and it seemed like the show was his idea. I don't know if that's actually the case though. It kept my interest enough to finish watching all the (current) episodes because the production values were pretty good (space battles, moons..). Also, the writers & effects teams did a better job getting some of the science right (like how gravity and inertia work in real life) compared to higher budget movies (Star Wars, Gravity, etc), which translates to less cringe inducing scenes. I just finished watching "Farscape" (a sciFi show from the early 2000's), also free to watch on Prime. That show was alot more fun overall, because of its wacky alien & creature effects (courtesy of the Jim Henson Creature studios) and lots of action. It was more like the type of SciFi we grew up watching - cheesy and very little of the "science" was anything but pure fiction. imo, it's bit like Star Wars with a variety of weird aliens and alien religions/mysticism, minus the Force powers and lightsabers. The production values of spaceship battles in Farscape weren't great though, at least not until the final two episodes. But I liked the show's use of puppets/animatronics (like the original SW trilogy) on the alien characters & creatures and the crappy CGI was mostly reserved for the spaceship battles.

Bill and Ted Face the Music - Not bad, it was a fun movie just like the first 2. I liked it even though it kinda was a rehash of the first 2 movies, but it still managed to expand on that whole universe. There were a few unexpected cameos that were great too. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves were still the same Bill & Ted with the same mannerisms and catch phrases, although perhaps a little more mature. I remember reading they were gonna bring back George Carlin as Rufus via CGI (kinda like Peter Cushing in Rogue One) but decided not to. There's still a small tribute to him. I was never expecting a Bill & Ted 3 and it was announced pretty abruptly, then didn't take long to be released. Could've easily been a disaster but it was a good time. {CLICK FOR SPOILER} One thing, I kinda wish Death (William Sadler) had shown up earlier and been around more. Dave Grohl and Kid Cudi made pretty funny cameo appearances.

The Twilight Zone - Season 2 (Download): Has been available for a while but only just got around to it because I was kind of putting it off after not being the biggest fan of the preachy first season. I'm happy to say however the second season is so much better than the first. Gone (or at least a lot more muted) is all the forced SJW/BLM rhetoric. The social commentary, that I feel can be there in a show like this, isn't as overt and shoehorned in as much. The focus is now more on telling a good story first and all that other stuff is a bonus. Many people of colour in the cast, women in significant roles, that's fine, that's just how life is, that never bothered me but don't compromise telling a good story by forcing certain values onto it that make the end result worse.
I didn't hate a single episode in this season and unlike the first season, I'll remember many of these episodes. Seriously, I was browsing through the episodes on imdb and most I couldn't even recollect ever having seen them even after reading the synopsis. Of the 10 of season 2, 4 I thought were excellent, 3 were pretty good, certainly interesting and apart from 1, the others were just fina as well. The only one I didn't like and felt like a remnant of season 1 is the 'Ovation' episode. That was too predictable and too on the nose.
The ones I really liked (most are reflected in the imdb scores as well, though not all) -Epi3: The Who of You, with a guy that could swap minds -Epi5: Among the Untrodden, with a girl with psychic powers -Epi6: 8, about an octopus wreaking havoc in an arctic science station (this one isn't liked by most, but I like creature features) -Epi9: Try, Try, a time loop episode, but not from the usual vantage point of the looper, but someone unaware of the loop.
So yeah, good effort in saving a series that was off to a very rocky start with season 1...

Just found out that Cobra Kai seasons 1 and 2 are now on Netflix and season 3 is also going to premier on Netflix some time next year. I thought the first 2 seasons were very good, the first season was actually pretty flawless. It has a 100% rating on RottenTomatoes.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (DVD): The classic. Extremely silly but charming and funny. Don't know how well it will still work for the millennial crowd, but for me it still did the trick. Even though it was a DVD, it actually looked pretty acceptable on my 32' TV. I certainly didn't notice anything especially bad, this is just how lower budget movies look, even in HD, lol... Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (DVD): The sequel and in my opinion the better of the 2. Still extremely silly, probably even moreso than the first, but even more fun that the first as well... Bill & Ted Face The Music (Download): Would the magic still work after all these years? Sure, in a way. Took a bit of getting used to the old(er) Bill & Ted, especially Keanu who seemed to have a bit more trouble channeling the '80s energy than Alex Winter did. He looked tired, especially in the beginning, and I haven't seen him without facial hair for so long, it just looked weird at first. But once the plot gets underway the magic gradually returns and so does the silliness. The Terminator they send back is played by the guy that plays No-Ho Hank in Barry. Didn't recognise him but it made a lot of sense when I looked it up. It was certainly on par with the rest of the series... JFK (Bluray): Great movie, all 3.5 hours of it, but that's not what I want to talk about. I noticed something, something that blew my mind. It might be common knowledge and I just didn't know but there's this drawing posted on the wall in an office about the magic-bullet theory and the face of the guy in front is that one meme-face, wtf? This one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojak I can't find anything about this on the net but I'm sure of it... EDIT: I took a screenshot with my phone, look at it, some details were added but that's basically it, isn't it? -> users.telenet.be/Anal_Amoeba/scmb-pics/JFK.jpgGet Duked! (Download): Or as the horrible original title (though not the in-movie on-screen title): Boys in the Wood, but they're in the Scottish Highlands, where there aren't even any trees, wtf? Anyway, bunch of delinquent high school dudes need to do a survival trip in the highlands where they soon find someone is hunting them. It's all pretty silly but quite funny.

People were saying that Keanu without a beard looks like Snape from Harry Potter. He kinda does. Also there was another character that the movie was missing, though he is referenced near the end.

To be honest, he was already dead, they found him in heaven in the second movie... Kong: Skull Island (Bluray): With the kids, so now we're all set for the show-off with Godzilla, which I figure is going to be them having a battle before having to team-up to fight an even bigger baddie, possibly mecha-Ghirorah (they recovered a Ghidorah head in the last Godzilla, but to just have him again as the bad guy would be boring, so mecha him up I'd watch it...) Hostage (Bluray): I liked this movie better back when it came out. Don't know why that is though, I found it just a tad too twisty and deus ex machina this time around. Maybe I've just seen it way too often back in the day. Tales from the Darkside - The Movie (Download): I like anthology horror but for some reason this didn't do it for me. The first segment was pretty dumb, though I think Steve Buscemi is the youngest I've ever seen him in a movie, I can't even remember the second segment at this time and the 3rd was only good in the final few minutes with an amazing transformation, but that was too little too late. Shame, I wanted to like it... Ghost World (DVD): Had to dig this one out of a folder, I had to remove a lot of DVD cases from my room to make space for blurays and this apparently was already among those. I got to think about it earlier this week so I decided to revisit. Didn't take long to be completely smitten with Thora Birch once again, goddamned, she's my dream girl if there ever was one. I hardly even notice Scarlet Johansson in this and let's face it: she's pretty attractive, which is the point of the movie. When she's next to Thora Birch, guys only have eyes for her... ...well, except me, that is. That face with those glasses and that hair, fuggedaboutit! Black Water (Download): The second killer croc movie to come out of Australia in 2007, the first being Rogue. I liked Rogue so much back then I never bothered with this one until it popped up last week and I decided to finally give it a go. I'd figured it wouldn't have been able to top Rogue anyway and it turns out I was right. It's a bit different, reminding me more of that 'trapped in a ski lift'-movie Frozen (3 people stuck in a location) than Rogue, which is more akin to Jaws (massively oversized monster) and it works to a certain extent but it all looked so bland. There was good tension building in the first half, but in the second it started to become a little dumb...

Regression(Prime): From the director of The Others which I really liked back in the day. Its like a cheesy 1980s low budget psychological horror film directed in 2015. Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke. Emma is doing an American accent but there are a couple times where her British accent sort of pokes through. I don't know why they couldn't do another take or dub it when its so obvious. It got very meh reviews and it is a very meh movie.

Capone - This was one of the worst reviewed movies of the year, saw it on Amazon Prime and decided to watch to see how bad it could possibly be. Not very good at all, Tom Hardy's acting is good (although bizarre) but the rest of it just feels very shallow. The story (which is highly fictionalized) is pretty much just about the final days of Al Capone's life as he was succumbing to neurosyphilis, with some flashbacks here and there, not much else. I guess it wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen but I can't recall any plot.

Green Book - Based on a true story. An Italian bouncer named Tony Lip (who was a real person) gets a job driving around a black man named Dr. Don Shiley (also was a real person) to shows where he plays piano which he was very skilled and accomplished at, they become friends along the way and Tony also becomes his bodyguard. There's a lot of racism in it that was typical in the 1960's, but it's a story about these 2 guys becoming best friends and it does end on a very positive note. I'm not sure how much of it was fictionalized, but I thought it was a very good movie.
The whole scene with the fried chicken in the car was great.
Something really interesting, the real Tony Lip was also an actor, he played Carmine Lupertazzi Sr in The Sopranos.
Viggo Mortensen plays him in the movie, it was hard to believe that was the same guy who played Aragorn, he's a great actor. Don Shirley was played by Mahershala Ali and he did great too, I think he won an academy award for it. Viggo was nominated but didn't win.

The Umbrella Academy - Season 1 (Download): How did this manage to slip under my radar? Did I suffer from superhero fatigue when this first made the rounds? I don't know, all I can say is I was wrong for skipping it. It's right up my alley, often reminding me of Legion and Preacher, but of which I love. While it may not be as great as those 2, it still is pretty good... ...and from what I heard, season 2 should be even better. I can't wait. Check back here next week...
Crimson Tide (Bluray): Remember when Tony Scott still made good movies? I guess he sure did when he offed himself after a string of really mediocre-to-bad ones in 2012. I've always liked Crimson Tide, it's one of the very few Bruckheimer/Simpson productions from the '90s I can still stomach to this day. And it's still tense as fuck even after all these years...
Quigley Down Under (Bluray): I'm not one for westerns but this one always took my fancy, probably because it's not just about a quick-drawing outlaw. I felt like watching it again when I saw this movie being featured in a series I'd been watching where they test gun-related stuff in Hollywood movies, kinda like Mythbusters, but just for weapons, where I learned Quigley is a bit of a hero in the sniping community. Hitting 2 guys with a single bullet is even called 'a Quigley' apparently...
The Guyver (Bluray): Great looking bluray for a silly, silly movie. The original anime is ultra-violent with scary looking monsters, this is not that. The Guyver-armor looks pretty neat and one of the main Zoanoids does too, but the others are more silly than scary. The prosthetics are great, but the designs are pretty dumb. The entire movie has a weird tone, like they didn't want to take it too seriously but they went way too far in the other direction with some of the characters, especially the jive talking, rapping black guy, who morphs into a big lipped, big eared kangaroo-type monster. All this being said, it's great someone decided to put out a great looking version of it and then made it cheap enough for me to get it...
Beetlejuice (Bluray): I've never owned this movie before, now on bluray is the first time and I don't know why that is exactly. I've seen it over the years, just never owned it. It's all right up my alley. Neat '80s effects all over the place and a lot of silliness.
Host (Download): 1-hour horror movie filmed entirely on Zoom that's not too bad but suffers from the same problems as all these types of movies do. Either it's completely static and something happens in the background or it's incredibly shaky when the person is moving with the device. The picture quality is all over the place and so is the audio, which I found rather annoying. I hate that metallic low-bitrate sound and here's it's nothing but. They have some good moments but overall I found it to be too annoying to be really engaging...

Tombstone (Bluray): It's been a while since I last saw this, on DVD, but I have a feeling it looks way better on bluray. I remember the DVD not being amazing, but that might just be me misremembering. This is the single best western in my opinion. Kurt Russell, Bill Paxton, Sam Elliot, Val Kimer, Michael Biehn, Powers Boothe and so on and so on and they're all great, especially Val Kilmer...
Sausage Party (Bluray): After Tombstone, I felt like something silly and in that regard, this is right on the mark. Stupid, but hilarious, if you're into that kind of juvenile stuff, which I am...
Spring Breakers (Bluray): Speaking about misremembering things, I was convinced this movie opened with a song I absolutely loathe, but I didn't hear it in the entire movie. Must be a completely different movie. Instead I just looked at James Franco's shit, which is easily the best scene of the movie...

The Umbrella Academy - Season 2 (Download): More of the same, so pretty good. I'd heard people liked this second season way better than the first but I can't really say that's the case for me. I like it just fine, don't get me wrong, but apart from the very cool opening episode, it literally is more of the same.
Ad Astra (Bluray): This was not what I was expecting. One of those movies that completely passed me by despite being big budget scifi. I didn't even download it beforehand. I probably still would've ended up buying it eventually if I had though. Anyway, it feels like a huge budget version of a low-budget movie. This kind of slow and more esotherical scifi doesn't tend to be made for the masses and judgig by the reviews on the imdb, the masses didn't seem to like it all that much either, lol. I thought it was pretty decent. Looked pretty, I got it but I wasn't blown away by anything in particular either...
The Running Man (Bluray): I never realised this was directed by Starsky from Starsky and Hutch??? That's so random. Weird. Anyway, the movie is an '80s one-liner action fest with kind of a cult status and the bluray was OK, not great, not bad. Not as good as I had hoped maybe but taking into account its low-budget B-movie origins, it probably still looks the best it ever has. 'Sub-Zero, now plain zero', lol...
Black Dynamite (DVD): Rewatch in preparation for 2 seasons of an animated series starring these characters which, at first glance, looks amazing. This movie only seems to get better as I get more familiar with the kinds of movies it's spoofing, watching all these Redlettermedia Best of the Worst episodes over the years. I can't wait for the series after watching the first episode either. That certainly sets a high bar as far as fucked-up-ness goes...
In the Electric Mist DC (Download): Interesting murder mystery thriller starring Tommy Lee Jones in a role I've seen him play a lot the past decades: Stern old cop/man at the end of his career/life having to solve a crime. As far as type types of thrillers go, it was kinda in the middle of the pack. No farfetched bullshit (if you take him talking to the ghost of a dead confederate general in stride, that it).
The Guyver 2 - Dark Hero (Download/DVD): Way better movie than the first, much more in tune with the entire Guyver thing, but it doesn't look like anybody cared about this quite as much as the first because the HD-version of this is nowhere near as nice as the bluray I bought of the that movie. The image ranges from OK to soft as fuck. Most action scenes seem to look acceptable, but most of the time it looks like upscaled SD and not even good SD at that. I have it on DVD, I can't imagine it looking any worse in a lot of parts. That being said, while too long at over 2 hours, it nevertheless is the better of the Guyver movies, with better designed, scarier looking, Zoanoid monsters and pretty decent action choreography taking into account the bulky suits.
Christine (Bluray): Much better image quality in this classic about a killer car, that still does the trick. Solid story, great FX, one of the better Stephen King movies and a decent John Carpenter one.
I think that's about it. Didn't manage to get on here yesterday and I have a hard time remembering what I watched the night before, let alone 2 days ago, lol...

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) (free to watch w/ ads on YouTube right now) - This is my favorite comedy movie of all time, so much zaniness, a great cast and so many laughs. I hadn't seen it in a long time but at the very end when that loudmouth woman (Ethel Merman) slips on the banana peel, still made me laugh out loud even though I knew it was coming. This was also one of my favorite movies as a kid, even back then it made me laugh a lot. Also I can't believe it's rated G, seems like it should be rated PG at least. It has quite a bit of mild violence and there's a few scenes with a woman dancing in bra and underwear. I couldn't believe my parents would let me watch that as a kid. I was looking at the cast and crew, I think they're all gone now. Carl Reiner was the last castmember who was still alive but he passed away just this year.
There was a remake in 2001 called Rat Race but it's awful, comes nowhere near the greatness of the original and it didn't have nearly as many laughs. That one is free to watch on Crackle right now.
*edit* Watching the original again on my Asus PB277Q monitor with adaptive contrast on, I don't know what it is about this monitor, but it makes those old movies look really good when adaptive contrast is on and the colors are really rich too. I wish my 165hz monitor had colors like that.

"I'm coming momma!": Am I remembering that right? It being the battle cry of the guy who played LSD in The Producers?

lol yeah there was a part where that guy says that, he also says "MOMMA!" when she slips on the banana peel at the end then everyone in the room's laughing even though they're all badly injured and in pain. The whole cast in the movie is a great ensemble.
Another great part: "This is no place for a convertible!" Also when that truck driver gets mad and destroys that entire gas station and he's throwing the attendants through the walls, classic.
They spoofed this movie in an episode of The Simpsons and re-did a lot of the same scenes and gags.
*edit* Did some searching and these actors from it are still alive, most of them were extras.

Black Dynamite - Seasons 1 + 2 (Download): A (superbly) animated BD series from several years ago. Didn't even know this was a thing until I ran into it by accident. It looks amazing, more like anime than traditional American animation, with exagerrated poses and fast anime-like action. It's also anything but PC, bitches and hos everywhere and they have a bunch of black '70s celebrities showing up (not voiced by themselves, obviously), the best of which are Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor, but there's also Mr T, James Brown, Rudy Ray Moore, Pam Grier, Al Sharpton and a bunch more. The main white baddie is Richard Nixon, obviously . One of his schemes is hoping to get all blacks addicted to drugs by making them extremely cheap, but instead they all become dealers, supplying the white elite and improving the community with the profits, lol. This was a pleasant surprise. If you ever have a chance to watch any of this, make sure you do... Gemini Man 3D (3D Bluray): Don't get the hate for this movie. Is it the best ever, no, is it worse than any of the big budget action blockbusters out there? Certainly not. Generic plot, interesting action photography, good stunts, pretty decent (to great) 3D...

Cuties (Netflix): So by now I am sure everyone here has heard the controversy about this movie so I decided to check it out myself to see what the big deal is. I personally find kids of that age to be annoying and the girls in this movie have so much freaking annoying energy it was kinda hard to watch. I put the movie at 2.0 speed and even so it kinda dragged.
It wasn't nearly as inappropriate as I expected it to be had some questionable close up shots but kids live in a highly sexualized world with the pressures of social media and such so its a relevant movie.
One thing I noticed that I haven't seen people comment about is it makes France seem kinda dirty and run down. I read something once from someone who lives on the outskirts of Paris for a few years and how disgusting it was over there compared to your average American city.

I downloaded it just because of the controversy, after 5 minutes I gave up watching, skimmed through it at +1 and +3 minutes on my media player just to look for whatever it was that has everyone in such an uproar. Found 2 dancing sequences that probably were the cause, one in the middle and one at the end. Only watched the middle one (because it had the best music). Not my type of movie, controversial or not. Pretty sure the same type of kids post way worse stuff all over the internet unprovoked anyway.
Anyway, forget to post friday night's movies again, so I'm just going to post the titles for everything I've seen up till now before I forget completely and edit it tomorrow:
Joker (Bluray): It's not a bad movie, but I'm still glad it didn't get all the Oscars™ it was nominated for and Parasite got stuff like Best Picture. That's the more original movie. Joaquin Phoenix however did deserve his, I've never seen someone in so much pain while laughing.
Gone Baby Gone (Bluray): Extremely cheap bluray I just happened to come across. I ordered it right away because Ben Affleck's directorial debut is a pretty solid thriller, a genre that has way more mediocre movies than good ones, and his certainly rises from the pack, thanks to his brother Casey and all the main actors (and positively ugly extras).
Underworld (Bluray): I (finally) bought the most recent one, the 3D version just never seemed to come down in price, took 4 years to do so, but before I'm going to watch that I decided to rewatch the entire series because it's been a minute. It holds up but it's very derivative of so many other movies, especially the Matrix.
Gamera The Brave (Download/DVD): Basically a children's version of Gamera, with a young Gamera that hatches from an egg found by a young boy and all the children coming to his aid at the end. I wondered why I never rewatched the DVD I bought of this some 13 years ago and now I know, lol. Nah, it's a pretty decent movie but compared to the 2000's Gamera reboot, it's the weaker os the bunch, despite some incredible cuteness...

Alive (Download): That Korean zombie movie. Tried watching it a few weeks ago but turned out I had no subs and not wanting to go back downstairs, turn on the computer and look for some, I just skipped it, until last night. Why is it Koreans can still make this overplayed zombie shit work? Train to Busan was also great and this one is too, for the most part. It runs a bit out of steam once the 2 survivors get together, but they already had me convinced at that point, so it's fine. It's amazing they still manage to do anything original in a zombie movie. The Walking Dead it ain't (than god)...
The Ninth Configuration (Download): Um... Mmmm... What? This was a weird movie.
Underworld: Evolution (Bluray): The second, and as far as I'm concerned, the best, with FX that still look great after all this time and solid action.
I Spit on your Grave (Bluray): Don't know why I wanted to rewatch this all of a sudden, but I did and this remake of the exploitation 'classic' ain't too bad. Especially the second part, where she gets to take revenge has some good bits.

If you haven't read the books in this series I recommend them. Very well done.

50 States of Fright - Season 1 (Download): A Quibi show, a horror anthology to be more precise, consisting of 5 episodes split up into 14 parts of about 5-ish minutes a piece. It's not off to a great start, despite the first episode having been directed by Sam Raimi, it's just not that good a story. For me it kicks off with the 3rd segment, so episode 7 to be more precise and it builds from there, the best being 9-10-11. If I were to rank this as a movie, which it basically is, considering the runtime of the entire thing, I'd say it's a decent horror anthology, which, like most, has good and weaker segments but doesn't dwell on any single one for too long to become a problem. The good episodes outweigh the weaker ones...
