Fast & Furious (Bluray): For some reason I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. Has always been my least favorite by far but now I didn't mind it as much. Liked it better than the second even. Will I watch it again though? Little chance...
The Post (Download): Really wanted to watch this because I loved Spotlight so much but at first I though I might have made a mistake. Took a while to get going and I couldn't really follow and didn't know who was supposed to be what but then it slowly all started coming together. By the end I was completely with the movie and I thought it was great. Acting superb throughout, Bob Odenkirk has really impressed me since I discovered him in Breaking Bad.
Castle in the Sky (DVD): Another long overdue rewatch of a Ghibli anime. Fun adventure movie that does take a little while to get going but once it does the fluid animation, colourful characters and humour make this a very easy watch. I need to show this to the kids, I think they might like it...

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge 3D (3D Bluray): Ok, I guess, I'll never be a big Pirates fan but as far as this series goes, it wasn't bad.
Eat Locals (TV): Meh. Low budget vampire movie wih a few laughs but not enough to keep me awake, especially not today when I'm feeling sick. Had to rewind a few times but eventually made it to the end. Don't bother, not enough to like.

A Quiet Place(RPX): Good horror movie. Not too gory. The ending was kind of weird but enjoyable. One plot hole tho: {ENDING SPOILERs!}If a woman with a shotgun can blow one of these things heads off and a girl with a hearing aid can completely drive them nuts then why are there newspaper clippings saying there are immune to bullets and why couldn't the US military deal with these creatures?

@ A Quiet Place, I think it's funny that it stars and was directed by the guy who played Jim on The Office (US).

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (TV): Always wanted to see this but never got around to it until last night. Unlike the other movies I watched last night, I never nodded off here and yet it's the slowest and most quiet of the lot. But it was interesting and kept you guessing and involved in the story. Good acting allround helped as well. Might need to buy this some time or other...
Fast Five (Bluray): Heist movie with cars and it's actually quite enjoyable nonsense even though the laws of physics don't really seem to apply to anything in this movie. The cast is having fun and the action is stylish and well shot. Can't say I didn't enjoy myself...
Golgo 13: The Professional (DVD): Classic anime flick about a killer for hire. The most sex you'll ever see in a non-hentai movie, Golgo gets all the women. The 1980's animation is a bit rough around the edges sometimes and the few instances of CGI are just laughable but the movies powers through with all kinds of action, ultraviolence and sex so all is forgiven.

X - The Movie (DVD): Superb looking late '90s pre-cgi anime. Great character designs and the scenes of destruction, of which there are a lot, look amazing. High praise, sadly that's about all the good I can say about it because the story is a rather weak not to say non-existent. Basically it drags, with a lot of dream sequences, which, granted, always look amazing, from one fight scene to the next and since you don't know or care for the characters, it's hard to get excited about it apart from the visual aspect.
Fast and Furious 6 (Bluray): Mmmmh, this one didn't really do it for me. There's a great driving sequence at the start with the flipper cars but then it stops dead for a long time and when it picks back up near the end, both sequences may be a bit too much over the top for their own good. How long is that freaking runway anyway?

My Neighbour Totoro (DVD): Another long overdue rewatch. I remember being very excited the first time I got to see it and consequently being somewhat disappointed. Now, with lowered expectations, an open mind and several years later, I got to enjoy it for what it was. Nothing much happens in the movie but it's a feelgood flick and all the creatures are fun and the animations are great...
Devil Man (DVD): Now this is more my style even though it looks worse in every single way (and the DVD isn't that great either), but what it is is gory monster nonsense and that will always win out when compared to feelgood in my book.

The Sky Crawlers (Bluray): Slow but deliberate, sprinkled with exciting fighter action scenes, this animated tale of an everlasting war.
Demon City Shinjuku (DVD): Decent enough anime that has 1 thing against it: being the weakest of the City trilogy (Wicked and Cyber). Without those, it would've stood out a lot more.
Wildling (Download): Has an intriguing beginning but quickly slides into something overly predictable and not very interesting. I must've checked how long it would still last at least a dozen times in that second half.
Fast & Furious 7 (Bluray): Yeah, this series has gone completely off the rails. For everything that's neat, there are now at least 3 or 4 things that are completely ludicrous.

14 Blades (Bluray): Decent enough wire-fu flick that I mistakenly thought was Seven Swords when I bought it. Picture quality is somewhat ruined by excessive use of edge enhancement which sometimes literally puts a white line around objects against a background. Very strange decision because the picture isn't that bad without it, it's worse with it...
Pom Poko (DVD): Funny and unusual Ghibli movie about these Japanese raccoons that apparently can shapeshift, which they use to try and stop a building project that would destroy their natural habitat. Funny thing is that are drawn with testicles, and even have songs about them, plus they actively use those testicles in their transformations.
Parasite Dolls (DVD): 3-part anime series that's reminiscent of Ghost in the Shell and Cyber City Oedo. Decent.

Watched Get Out today, thought it was very good. I heard it was funny but I only laughed maybe 1 or 2 times, for the most part it was more of a horror/thriller type of movie.
*edit* Watched it a 2nd time today and saw some stuff I'd missed the first time, also I found it funnier this time. It was directed by Peele from Key & Peele, which is a very good and hilarious show.

Running on Karma (Download/DVD): There are a lot of 'classic' HK movies being uploaded to the usual places at the moment. Not really into that currently, but when I saw this one show up, I needed to get it. Remembered really liking it back in the day, turns out that's still true but it's mostly because of the first 'segment'. It's not really an anthology but there are several different 'cases' being investigated and the first is by far the weidest and coolest.
The Spirit (Bluray): Sin City meets Batman '66. All the visual flair of the first with the campiness and (almost) slapstick of the second. I kinda like it but the mix of superserious and camp don't always work. Still, it looks neat.
Cyber City OEDO-808 (DVD): Not as good as Wicked but better than Monster. Not too dissimilar to the Ghost in the Shell TV-series that I'm currently rewatching as well. 3 seperate episodes dealing with various tech-related cases (ok, so one's a vampire, but hey) in the usual Madhouse animation style.

Smiley Face (Download): Started watching something else, but it was very confusing and then I nodded off and slept for longer than I would have wanted. Didn't feel any desire to watch the rest of that movie. I had this sitting ready, already downloaded it a while back when I got the other Araki movie but never got around to watching it. Looked entertaining enough, more than what I was watching before anyway, so what the heck... It was extremely light but enjoyable, the adventure a superstoned girl (Anna Faris) who accidentally eats an entire tray of pot brownies reserved for her roommate but has a great idea to set everything straight. Sadly that's how it is in her head, the reality is quite different. Entertaining, silly, but entertaining.
Memoir of a Murderer (Download): Not Memories of Murder, but another Korean movie dealing with a serial killer, only this one has dementia and his memories are fading in and out. He accidentally gets on the track of another serial killer, a cop, who starts dating his daughter. Cat and mouse game ensues. Great fucking flick that leaves you guessing all the way through.
The Night Watchmen (TV): I'd recorded this before and I kinda remember liking it. It was enjoyable for the first half or so but then I started nodding off and I lost interest somewhat. Dunno, it all got a bit samey once the vampire shenanigans are well under way.

Batman Ninja (Download): 10 times more insane than the already pretty crazy trailer. Looks amazing and pulls out all the stops in the action department. You won't believe where they take it and what silliness those Japanese came up with. I loved it, watched it all with a huge smile on my face. Can't wait to buy this, so I can (hopefully) watch it in Japanese as well. Nothing wrong with the English version, voices were all really good and objectively it makes no sense they'd all be speaking Japanese, but it just sounds so cool: Batuman...

Way ahead of you, must've gotten home around the time you posted your post, I just forgot to do the same...
Avengers: Infinity War 3D (Theatre): Wow, what a ride. Good laughs but also a lot of drama and a charismatic bad guy who made some good points. Won't spoil anything but major events happening in this one that make you wonder just how they'll figure it all out in the next one...

Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex - Season 1 (DVD): Been a long time since I last saw this so it was all new to me, actually, I remembered surprisingly little from this, but it certainly wasn't bad. Strange things with the subtitles though. Looked like every single of the 7 discs was done differently. On the first the subs were semi-transparent (looked really bad), on the second disc it was fine then one of the discs there was a black bar behind every sub and one had a different font from all the rest... What the hell? First though about watching it in English for a change but quickly gave up on that. Did not like it.

Westworld - Season 1 (Bluray): In preparation for season 2, which I'm going to let finish before I'll binge that, but I had a long weekend, so the perfect opportunity to rewatch season 1. Remembered a lot but still managed to get surprised here and there. But it's great, isn't it?
Wonder Woman 3D (3D Bluray): If there's 1 thing the DC movies usually do better than the Marvel ones, it's 3D. Of course, the rest of this movie is good too. I wasn't particulary invested when I started the bluray but it didn't take long before the movie won me over again. Chris Pine is so charming, lol.

Forgot this one yesterday, watched it with the kids:
300 (Bluray): SPARTAAAA! Still love it, looks amazing, violent and makes you feel like kicking people while shouting: THIS IS SPARTA!
The Villainess (Bluray): Opening action sequence is unbelievable. First person shoot'em up/brawler that even puts Hardcore Henry to shame. Then it turns into the live action version of the animated O-Ren Ishii segment from Kill Bill and around the midway point it grinds to a complete halt, throws all kinds of intrigue into the mix and I got lost in all the flashbacks and betrayals with identical looking Korean people. Didn't know who was after who or why anymore and the final action scenes, while neat to look at, weren't as engaging as that first one.

Dawn of the Dead (Bluray): Long time since I last saw this, the Walking Dead creating a zombie fatigue, but I was glad to be able to enjoy zombie shenanigans again. The opening is still really strong and the fast and vicious zombies do seem to be more of a challenge than the slow ones of TWD that are just a nuisance nowadays going down from a potato peeler through the skull pushed in there by a little girl.

Memories (DVD): Or to give it it complete cover title: "Katsuhiro Otomo Presents: Memories". Anime anthology consisting of 3 segments: 1. Magnetic Rose, about a space salvage crew that stumble onto a haunted spaceship. 2. Stink Bomb, the funniest segment, about a guy turning into a walking chemical weapon whose smell is so strong it knocks out just about anything and anyone and 3. Cannon Fodder, about a society whose single goal in life is firing huge cannons in the direction of an unseen enemy. Nothing bad among the bunch but I felt the image quality of this DVD could've been better. I've recently rewatched a lot of anime on DVD and this was among the fuzziest transfers even though it was a bigger production on a Sony DVD.

Heavy Metal (DVD): The cult classic anthology animated movie. Hit'n'miss segments, hit'n'miss animation styles but overall I can still see the appeal, in spite of another less than stellar DVD from Sony with a lot of compression noise around black edges of drawings. Wasn't as noticable back when on a CRT but on a flatscreen it's painful.

I've always loved the B-17 segment...
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens 3D (3D Bluray) Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi 3D (3D Bluray): Back to back Star Wars. Wasn't originally the idea but while watching 7 I got the urge to watch 8 as well. 7 is so good, among the best of the entire saga, JJ did just about everything right. 8 is more hit'n'miss but still way above anything the prequels did... And I think I saw Eddie Hitler though I'm still not sure.
Trainspotting (DVD/Download): Downloaded an HD version to check it out but it looks like I might just as well have watched the DVD because the image quality was pretty mediocre. Movie is still great however. Still chuckling at Spud discovering he shat himself. His reactions are just priceless. T2 tonight.
Venus Wars (DVD): DVD wasn't great, not good enough to watch on the flatscreen in any case so I fired up the CRT once more where the picture quality of the DVD was just fine. Ghosting wasn't as noticable, compressing error non-existent. Rewatched the movie because the guy that did that amazing R-Type animation I posted in the video thread (and an even cooler Star Wars one) mentioned it as an inspiration for his crazy shading and animation style, which modern anime doesn't seem to do anymore...

Ninja Resurrection (DVD): 2-part anime movie/series about a swordsman named Jubei that has Ninja in the title and he has to fight opponents with mystical powers, so yeah, it's a little derivative of the classic Ninja Scroll but in no way near as good. Story is all over the place with random scenes popping up all over the place and most of all: it ends right as you'd expect it would begin. Guess they had planned for more but it never happened. Now you're left with the birth of the ultimate opponent and him and his henchmen murdering an entire city while the hero is on the other side of the country, completely unaware... ...The End! What?
T2 - Trainspotting (Bluray): Good movie, but the flashback scenes in this, taken right out of the original movie, are better quality than the HD version of the original, which is remarkable.
Tropic Thunder (Bluray): I went full retard.
Deep Sea (DVD): Aka Submarine 707: Mission Mu. Anime about the crew of a submarine taking on an evil bad guy that wants to steal all the magma from the earth's core in the mystical underwater city of Mu. About 45 minutes long but packed with so much story and set pieces it should probably be at least twice as long.

Death Trance (DVD): From the action director of Versus comes more of the same, so good swordplay action with some humor in a post-apocalyptic world starring Tak Sakaguchi. Held up pretty well even on DVD. Tried looking for a HD version before but without any luck. This'll do...
Appleseed (DVD): The classic 1988 one, which I never was a big fan of an still am not. Animation is OK for the time but the story leaves somewhat to be desired. The 2004 one is superior in every way.

Black Panther (Download): So the kid could see Infinity War if he wanted to and for me a rewatch to see if I had missed something the first time. I still don't see what makes other people rave about this so much. It's OK but I'd rate it at the bottom of the Marvel ladder in every single aspect.
