I think so, lol... My brand spanking new 2017 Honda Civic SI Turbo Coupe: Story for inquiring minds: Rented a Ford Focus last weekend to go to the shore with some friends so we could all fit in one vehicle (her car is too old and she didn't want to put miles on it and went 50/50 with me on the rental). This trip would normally take $60 in gas one way in my truck (Ford Lightning) and the Focus took... drumroll..... $15! LOL. So that got my attention... But other than the gas mileage I hated everything else about the Focus (Hatchback). It was very cramped and had absolutely no trunk room and really didn't have any style...I thought it was ugly. The brakes where overly touchy and the transmission was very jerky off idle. I went this Friday evening to go check out the Honda Civic SI (I was actually going to look at a Sedan and not a Coupe) and they had that green Coupe SI sitting out front and it caught my eye. Took it for a test drive and was sold right away. This thing is actually very roomy, much moreso than the Focus and it's a blast to drive and is loaded with more tech and gadgetry than you can shake a stick at. I'm 5.9 and when I had the seat set comfortable in my Camaro I could only fit three fingers between the rear and front seat, totally unusable rear seats. This Civic I can put the seat back to the point where I can barely touch the pedals and can fit in the back seat without re-adjusting the front seat. I think the new more compact engine allows to transfer more room to the cabin. Anyway, I got another manual. I dunno, I just like being more connected to the vehicle and in control with a manual. But the tech in this car make my 2010 2SS Camaro seem like a model T, I've never had such a loaded vehicle before, heh. One button (sport mode) stiffens up the suspension and everything. You turn your turn signal on and there's a camera on the side mirror that projects the image of the blind spot on the in dash touch screen. It has a power sunroof which is cool to open for night driving and I always liked the idea of having a sun roof while driving in the rain (closed of course, lol) to watch the rain pound off the roof. Yea I used to make fun of these types of cars but boy have they come a long way! And to where its so good to where I didn't second guess giving up a 2SS Camaro says something!

That's one of the drawbacks of having a truck instead of a car... You get utility and they're built a lot tougher than cars, but you end up spending more on gas if it's your daily driver for sure. My truck gets pretty decent gas mileage for a truck though, 17-18 city and 20-21 highway on average. Depends on how much I get down on the accelerator.
I remember when trucks started achieving 20mpg highway, they would advertise it like it was some kind of major breakthrough.

Yea I still have my truck because I absolutely HAVE to have a truck for carrying stuff like my dirt bike, towing the jet ski, and picking up large items like arcade games or furniture not to mention I just feel much more comfortable having a spare secondary vehicle in case one is broke down I have the other to drive. I traded in my Camaro 2SS.

ahh I see... Thought you were talking about the Lightning you'd mentioned in the other thread. TLDR lol.
Yeah, I used to know someone who was into those Civic SI's that are all souped up. Those tiny lightweight cars are pretty cool, lots of electronics. I always thought about getting one of those Dodge SRT-4's but never did. If I were to get a fast car, not sure what I'd get.

I'm rockin an SUV. Since I live in cold climate they are good for the snow with the all wheel drive but roomier and better gas then a pickup. Fun fact, Alaska has a higher percent of pickups per capita then Texas.

Yeah I believe it. I think it's also one of the last places in the world that still has Blockbuster Video stores.
*edit* BoT: If I were to get a regular car, it would be a Subaru Legacy.

Word, super green like the plants he loves. At least he didn't get this... automobiles.honda.com/civic-type-r#specificationsType-R is a great bang for the buck no doubt. But I'm not sure I could live with that spoiler. Just messing w/ you, it's really a great car. I'm still driving the 2004 Acura RSX (a sibling of the Civic, but no longer in production).

I always wanted an Acura RSX too, but never got one. Acura TL's are really nice too.

Reminds me of this old video (the Civic Type R that is): Yeah, definitely get that (transformer-like spoiler/wing scene in comparison to Type R gawd-awful spoiler/ground effects). I literally lol at that vid, because it's a fairly accurate depiction of all the "Fast" movies (including the sequels they continued to make years after). If ppl want to save & time money, instead of watching the actual movies, they can just watch the short 3fast vid you posted here. To be completely honest, I thought the 1st Fast movie was ok the first time I watched it. I saw 2 or 3 of the sequels, and they kept getting more & more ridiculous, so I discontinued watching them.

Reminds me of this old video (the Civic Type R that is): Wow talk about a blast from the past. I saw that on Newgrounds or something in like 2002 lol. Also I saw one of the F&F movies in the theater in like 2010 and I couldn't tell you anything about it. People talking. Drive fast. Gun shots. Drive more. Guy and girl in a room. End. Something like that.

He posted before that he was into racing Motocross. Lime green is Kawasaki's team color. Yeah, I know this because one of my childhood friends was into racing Kawasaki bikes also and had his own collection of Motorcross trophies.

Yea, I've owned more lime green Kawasaki's than you can shake a stick at (used to get a brand new one every two years). But now I'm riding white (Husqvarna). Still a huge Kawasaki fan though. Here's some pics of the car in the daylight.... And awesome gas mileage! I'm getting better than the rated! But yea, no lime green Kawasaki right now....this is what I'm currently riding:

Heard the Tesla's now get over 300 miles from a full charge, seen a few around where I work. Nice looking cars, but it's a long wait to get one. It appears Tesla was smaller niche auto manufacturer for a while and is just now trying to go mainstream (with the Tesla Model 3). So it's still a relatively small automaker and slowly ramping up production. The tech still has it's drawbacks too, such as 1) batteries lose their ability to hold a charge over time, so your range decreases the longer you own it and 2) the batteries eventually need to be replaced and are currently very expensive. However, Tesla has big plans to make improvements and lower costs. Once the Tesla Gigafactory is complete, the price of batteries should go down quite a lot and they'll no longer have to source drek batteries from China. If anything can be said about Elon Musk, he at least supports creating more jobs in the U.S. (and doesn't need to be coerced or bribed by govt to take that stance). www.tesla.com/gigafactory

Yeah I've read horror stories about people getting stranded when the battery runs out. Including one where the doors wouldn't even open after the battery ran out, in the middle of the desert no less. The guy had left his cellphone inside the car too.
When the technology gets better (and the price), I'd consider getting one though.

Managed 48.8MPG on the way home from work Friday night.... And I also blew the doors off a brand new F150 Ecoboost....lol. Funny the f150 gave me the ricer fly-by waving his hands out the window like he beat me in a race or something while I'm just cruising home trying to see how good of gas mileage I could get and then it was game on....let's just say I left him in my rear view when we got onto the next main highway and the F150 couldn't touch me on top end...LOL.

I didn't know a stock little Civic 4-banger could go this fast? Apparently it's electronically governed at 137mph which can be removed with a programmer so it's actually capable of faster speeds. Got stuck behind someone driving under the speed limit and managed 50mpg on a 20 minute trip: That's pretty sweet. I just got a 2017 Civic LX sedan 6 speed and love it so far. Congrats, and pics?

Driven one car in my life, an MG Maestro, about twenty years ago for two minutes... Filled it with dust after ragging the engine around a carpark and got told I was never touching it again. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Maestro
