So it looks like the new Resident Evil is getting really good reviews. They ditched the 3rd person camera and it's now first person. It sounds like they went back to more survival horror/puzzle elements instead of action/endless enemies like in 4/5/6. The graphics look really great and performance is supposed to be pretty good on the PC. www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/resident-evil-7-biohazard/critic-reviewsI ended up grabbing a key from gamesplanet.com and I have it pre-loaded on Steam. Just waiting for it to unlock which should be in a few hours.

I got it at green man gaming for the same 20% off as well. Yea, I liked the demo, great atmosphere and graphics. I didn't know the release date was so soon or I would of bought it earlier and pre-loaded it. I didn't even know you could pre-load it, grrr.... going to have to wait until tomorrow to play it I guess (10Mbit is the fastest connection here) so its a 6hr download for me.

I'm a few hours into the game. It is awesome. Despite the changes it feels more like Resident Evil 1 than any other. I nearly screamed a few times. Awesome in VR as well, i got more sick from the violence than the motion.

I'm really having a hard time getting into this game now. I play it for a few minutes and just close it and do something else. Don't know why, kinda enjoyed the demo....

How far in to the game are you? I've found that once you get a few weapons and some items the game really picks up.

I'm actually thinking about buying this one. Not sure if I should buy it on PC, or wait till (if) I have a PS4 and then buy it for that.
I looked up the minimum and recommended specs for it on PC, it should run fine on my system.

I got to the part where you meet the cop at the window and he wants you to meet him in the garage... very early in the game. The game/story from the start seems too cheesy. Like one minute you're sitting at the dinner table with the deranged family and then the next the house seems completely empty....like where did they go? I'm also kinda busy this weekend capturing tons of old 8mm home video tapes to the PC which takes tons of time.

Consoles come and go but your Steam/Origin library will always be with you on future PC builds. Plus the sky is the limit on the level of quality you want to play your games at on the PC and the console is locked hardware. Pretty easy decision to me!

Gotta agree, though console games have the advantage of being easily able to buy used and resell when you're done. Can't really do that with digital copies.

Well, it's still 20% off on GreenManGaming, went ahead and bought it. Downloading now on Steam. I should've been using GMG a long time ago.

Thing is with me, I don't buy physical copies anymore even on the console. I'd rather not have to insert discs to play a game. I also like the fact that your house could burn down and you still have your entire game library re-downloadable on the cloud. I personally never had luck with trading games in at a game store. They give you nothing for them, better off keeping them. Unless you mean like selling them on craigslist? Not a big deal to me, I'd rather not have to deal with physical media anymore.

Craigslist or ebay, never ever trade in at a store. Works best for newer titles. When GTAV came out I paid $60 for 360 version, played it and beat it over the weekend, then sold it less than a week after it came out for $50 on CL. I haven't gotten to a point in life where inserting discs into a console is a deal breaker. lmao I don't plan on ever buying another console though. Too many PC games I want to play that I will never get around to that I can't worry about playing console exclusives.

I played Skyrim on twitch mostly today but got in ~30 minutes of RE7. I was getting really frustrated because I couldn't figure out where the hell to go and was going to google a walkthrough when I noticed an entire hallway I hadn't noticed which triggered a sequence and let me move on. lol.

Great game so far and it runs very smooth with everything on high settings. I did turn off motion blur and DoF, that probably helped with performance too.

If you have 4GB of VRAM or less, disable shadow cache. All it does it pre-load shadows into video memory and right now it uses upwards of 6GB's, hurting performance on cards with less memory. You should see a performance increase by disabling it.

So far it's running very smooth, like 50-60fps. Not sure if that setting's turned on but I'll check it if I start getting bad performance. I built my current PC back in 2012, it's still keeping up... Core i5 3570K, 12GB of DDR3, and a GTX 670 4GB edition.

The pocket knife is a little bit OP... I haven't even used the gun all that much so far because of the pocket knife, maybe that will change.

It's a good game and definitely Resident Evil but at times, I feel like I'm playing a tech demo that's meant for VR.

Finished the game tonight. Solid game. Best RE I have played. The serious vibe slightly drops near the end and you get a little of that classic RE cheesyness but it maintains a good atmosphere. I missed out on 1 weapon upgrade but got the other. Oh well. Also as to the plot: {CLICK FOR RE7 PLOT SPOILER!}When I saw the old lady sitting in the chair staring at you, I said on twitch "plot twist that crazy bitch is the one doing all this" I so called it lol It's a good game and definitely Resident Evil but at times, I feel like I'm playing a tech demo that's meant for VR. Yes this very much. There are several scenes clearly meant for a VR headset.

That would explain the drastically different tone compared to the first 6 What's the difference? Does it actually make any kind of sense now or something?
