That would explain the drastically different tone compared to the first 6 What's the difference? Does it actually make any kind of sense now or something? Its a bit more coherent. Japanese people are all crazy.

Not sure how close I am to the end, I've been playing 9 hours and just got to this wrecked ship with a flashback.

I found an assault rifle and lots of ammo for it, excluding the flashback with Mia, I didn't use it until after I left the ship. I'm glad it gave me the option to unlock the .44 mag but I only have 4 bullets for it.
*edit* Just beat it, took 9 hours and 37 minutes. Glad I saved the assault rifle and all the ammo for the final part.

I'm not far behind you, I just haven't been playing it every night. My next sitting I should have it beat (I'm in the ship).

I kinda rushed through it and missed some secrets, didn't even get the flamethrower.

I kinda rushed through it and missed some secrets, didn't even get the flamethrower. Wow I though that was a plot item. Apparently there are two items in the game that let you upgrade your pistol and shotgun. I found one and upgraded my pistol. No idea where the one is. Didn't get the 44 mag as the complete lack of ammo for it anywhere led me to believe it was a waste of 9 coins. Also I read before release if you got the best ending in the demo it found the file on your system and unlocked something. No idea what it was.

You have to find the components for the flamethrower, I only found 2, not sure how many there are total. I did find a grenade launcher that uses incendiary grenades for ammo, I think it was behind a locked door that required the raven key.

This inspired me to try the Resident Evil 1 HD Remake. I was worried because there are horror stories of people getting nasty glitches but its been flawless for me. I never actually finished Resident Evil 1 back in the day I played a bit at my friends house but that was all.
I installed a mod that lets you skip all the door loading scenes and its working great.

I remember that in RE1, the stairs during loading screens too.

Ugh. I spoke too soon on the RE1 port not having issues on my comp. I got 1 CTD which I thought was a fluke. I have been playing on the hardest difficulty which limits saves. I was out of save items and lost 45 minutes of progress due to another CTD Started the game back over on a lower difficulty that lets you save more. Hope I can finish the game now at least.

Well I had some time last night and nothing else to do so I completed the game. A lot of people on the Steam forums complaining about the game being to short but honestly by the end, I didn't want it to drag out anymore. I played the originals, I just don't remember them very well. I might get the HD remake of the original.

Man I'm getting old I guess. Finally got RE1 to stop crashing but I am really chaffing under the inventory system. Run here. Pick this item up. Ok now double back and pick back up the item you just set down. Now run back here. Pick that back up and put this back away. Burn out. Lol

Yeah I too had some considerable trouble managing the inventory... I had to go back and forth quite a few times to temporarily store stuff so I had room for some other quest item. There must be a lot of secrets though, I found a wooden/fake shotgun and pistol, went back to where I got the shotgun and it let me leave the wooden one in place of the broken one. I also found a broken pistol, not sure if there's a way to fix them or if they serve any other purpose.

That's good to know... and it was actually a wooden toy axe I found, not sure why I remembered it being a handgun.

I realize it makes me a scrub but I am using an unlimited ammo trainer for RE1 now simply to ease the burden of juggling items. I just want the story and experience and less drudge work.

I used to scoff at people that did shit like that for a long time. My personal views now on using trainers and mods that change gameplay has changed to just do whatever increases your personal enjoyment of the game. I used to have to play every game on the hardest difficulty, but sometimes I want to play a game and feel like my character is a badass that is just better than everyone else. First game to make me realize that was Oblivion. Ramped up the difficulty all the way and it just wasn't fun (or realistic for that matter) for me to have to put 30 arrows into a dude just to kill him. Also playing Star Wars games where you are a Jedi I like to put the difficulty down so that most every basic, low level mob goes down with one swing. Just feels like that's how it should be while swinging a light saber around.

I finished RE1 it was great.
Unlike RE1 RE2 hasn't had any real HD remasters, one is coming hopefully soon.
The native PC version got a japanese only upgrade back in 2006. There is a fan english patch and some other things to get it working with modern systems.
Felt like a freaking hacker tracking all that shit down. yeesh.

The RE1 HD remaster is basically just the gamecube re1 remake ported to newer platforms, which shows how good it looked on Gamecube because it still looks pretty good today. RE2 will actually be a remake rather than just a port or upscaled version of RE2 (psx). Hopefully it's good.

I am torn if I wanna run it native PC with max 640x480, or if I wanna emulate it in Dolphin for 1080p and AA, or just wait for the remake and play some other games.

So if anyone else wants to play RE2, just emulate it with Dolphin and play the Gamecube version. 1080p, Borderless Window mode, Save States, rock solid gameplay.
Its a no-brainer really.

You could also check out Resident Evil Zero. They also ported that to the PC. Definitely not as good as RE1 though.

Yeah not sure how it happened but now I am playing through all the Resident Evil games at least up to 4. Already downloaded the native PC version of 3 which has mods witch improve graphic quality and fix bugs combining the best features of all the versions.
