I have the Fuel EX 5 Plus, I'm very happy with it but it's my first MTB ever so I am not sure how it compares to others. I got the 2019 model and it didn't come with a dropper post, but the 2020 model does come with one for the same price. However, it seems like they only made the "Plus" model of this bike for 2019, I haven't seen it for any other year. It came with 2.8" wide knobby tires. I like the way it shifts, the brakes seem fine but I've heard there are better. Lots of confidence on terrain when I go riding, one time I accidentally entered a rock garden at speed but I made it through the whole thing without any problems. Only downside I've really noticed is that it's a little bit slower on flat ground compared to the XC bikes with 29" tires that I often see on the trails, though that could have more to do with the wider tires with bigger knobs. It's 33lbs or so which seems a little on the heavy side, but I feel like riding a heavier bike is making me stronger. Also running tubeless, usually inflate to 20-25psi.
I've heard really good things about the YT Jeffsy too.
If money was no object right now, I think I'd get the Fuel EX 9.9 or the Top Fuel. I love the colors on the Fuel EX 9.9, it's got this black/grey/red/gold thing going on.

I think the biggest difference with the 9.9 is it comes with a carbon frame and rims.
I was watching a long-term review of the 9.9 on youtube and they said they had to replace the stock dropper post after just 3-4 months but that other than that, it was holding up really well and required very little maintenance.

I think my PC cost the same amount as my bike did, so it's technically hardware in my book anyway.
Speaking of PC hardware, have you guys seen the details about the Radeon RX 6000 series? I was gonna get an RTX 3070 or 3080 but I might actually switch to a new Radeon instead.

Some of the Physicists are saying there's a 50/50 (or greater) chance that we're living in a simulation. If so, riding a bike or doing anything else in life, could be closer to gaming than it seems.

I was hoping for a bit lower power usage from AMD's lineup. And they lack Tensor cores, so no DLSS. And DLSS is starting to look like it's maturing, with version 2.0. Ray tracing is looking like it could be close between the two. The AMD Infinity Cache is interesting, and might eliminate nVidia's advantage with its 320 bit bus and GDDR6X on the RTX 3080. www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/radeon-series-6800-and-6900-preview-analysis,1.html

DLSS is still a huge selling point for me, it's a big maybe if I'll switch over to Radeon. If I do, my system will be all AMD. I'm very impressed with the R7 3800X, it's a very powerful CPU. Runs hot though.
As for the power consumption of the new Radeons, it is lower than the RTX 3000's but not really by a whole lot.

I'm sure by now you guys have seen how insane these new Apple M1 chips are. Game changing.
For the longest time I only used Macs enough to be competent. At and old job we were 60% Mac tho. I got a 2015 Macbook Air as my daily driver and I remoted into a Windows Server instance do stuff with AD/etc. I came to enjoy using them tho. My current IT gig is 95% Windows, I went out and picked up a used 2017 Macbook Air(the battery only had 4 charge cycles, score) just to keep up on the latest and I got on the Big Sur beta as soon as it was available.
It is sluggish thanks to the 2 core 4 thread Intel chip in it, vs my Eluktronics with its 8 core 16 thread CPU.
If Apple keeps this going then in a couple years I could see more of the games companies porting their stuff to Mac. I could potentially make the switch to Mac as my main gaming platform if Apple embraces it. I know some people hate Apple so much they will never switch but I am a realist. Its an interesting development for sure.
