Trump's taking the idea of "reset" diplomacy to another level. Just a month or two ago, he was still calling the NK dictator "rocket-man." And now he's kissing ass for no apparent reason. Because this isn't a traditional presidency its a reality TV show. True, he is reality tv personified. Of course, that sort of garbage is becoming more pervasive in our culture as a whole. In that sense, Trump's election is (at least in part) a byproduct of our culture. There's an interesting & eerily prophetic scifi book called "Fahrenheit 451" written in the early 50's. The book predicted our society being primarily influenced by media circus/reality tv, which takes the place of reading & free-thinking (the society & govt basically becomes fascist, to the extent that fire depts main job is to burn books). Also, it predicted extreme decadence and apathy in America, while poverty rates & suffering continued to spiral out of control in much of the rest of the world. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_451

To be fair though, there's only so much harassment & threatening ANY person can take until he/she reacts in self-defense. Keep in mind, it's not all about the defamation, but also what the defamation leads to. There were actually crowds of hooligans/mobs following him around and shouting threats (because they're truly convinced by the universities and media saying that he's the next "Hitler", etc.). i.e. JP fears for his own safety. But, what i want to know is... how can JP be the next Hitler, when Trump already holds that mantle?

I thought higher corporate taxes are good tho, because corp tax cuts don't help the economy... remember your argument in the other thread. Joking aside, there will be some losers. That's a side-effect of playing economics like chess instead of checkers (by focusing on the big picture and pursuing long-term gains, rather than short-term gains). One of the comments ("Nevin_S" from the link below) summed it up nicely. Basically, the U.S. has been on the losing end of trade, with a massive trade imbalance/debt. Other countries have already been waging a trade war, while our politicians sat around and did nothing (except maybe profit from the economic rape). seekingalpha.com/article/4179420-u-s-gdp-growth-q2-still-track-reboundU.S. economy accelerating. China economy slowing down. Funny how this works. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-07-02/china-heads-for-record-defaults-and-downgrades-tip-further-pain

"China presses Europe for anti-U.S. alliance on trade" www.fidelity.com/news/article/top-news/201807030901RTRSNEWSCOMBINED_KBN1JT1KT-OUSBS_1That's bold of them. Evidently, China's desperate. If this isn't so, why are they so quick to throw in the towel and trash their relations with the US? It doesn't sound like a smart move either, unless they're strategically testing the strength of our alliances with EU nations, to see if they'd hold up in a WW. Regardless, it's not a smart move economically, because the US is the world's biggest customer and China's biggest customer. On the whole, we're buying and they're selling. The EU's response suggests that they have a better understanding of economics and the US in general. Obviously, they're aware that the US is negotiating for balanced trade and the tariffs are temporary. They know that, at worst, the tariffs will last only as long as the Trump administration and it's not worth compromising their long-term relationship with the US.

US Senate passes resolution with unanimous consent by voice vote that “affirms that the press is not the enemy of the people” and “reaffirms the vital and indispensable role that the free press serves” and “condemns the attacks on the institution of the free press.”

Today on "Meet the Press" Trumps attorney Rudy Giuliani says
.@rudygiuliani on Trump testifying with Mueller: "I am not going to be rushed into having him testify so that he gets trapped into perjury... it’s somebody’s version of the truth. Not the truth." @chucktodd: "Truth is truth" GIULIANI: "No, it isn’t truth. Truth isn’t truth." #MTP

So John McCain died and I figured I would check the usual right wing cesspools and see what they had to say about the man seeing as he is a life long Republican.
Not shocked, post after post saying they are glad he is dead, that he is a traitor and apparently he never actually was in vietnam at all and here is some conspiracy youtube channel proving it, also they hope his daughter dies of brain cancer next.
Stay classy Trump supporters.

I can't believe they're talking shit about a man who refused to be released until everyone else was released. And then endured years of torture because of that decision. The man is a hero regardless of his politics.
The only traitor is sitting in your White House.

This is completely ridiculous: www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opinion/trump-white-house-anonymous-resistance.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=HomepageTrump has repeatedly bragged about his ability to hire the "best people" and "draining the swamp" Yet these same people were actually thinking of getting him out of office: This whole thing is so funny, and for his supporters it means nothing. They will just claim these are "Deep State" operatives.............so if Trump hired "Deep State operatives" how was he "draining the swamp"? Shit even if Trump decides to resign they will say he is under pressure from the "Deep State". There is no set of facts that will ever let them see him for what he is. The idea that a billionaire from a wealthy family who has been rubbing shoulders with the politically connected is not already part of the elite "Deep State" has been laughably from the beginning but his supporters eat it up. Why? Because Trump sounds like an idiot when he talks? So that makes him on the side of the common man? Unbelievable.

The words of Sen. Bob Corker “It's a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.”
