Anyone been hit with the 'can't use adblockers on youtube anymore or we'll block the video" yet?
I used up all my continues already so I had to disable it (but I haven't watched any videos since). Even on the other PC with the noscript it went through. I can actually see myself just downloading every video I want to watch because I won't sit through a single ad, I can promise you that. Let's hope some internet-wiz figures out a workaround eventually.
Pretty lame move, youtube, but I'm sure you needed the money... Doubt anybody is going to fork over €120/year to disable them though.

I use uBlock Origin. No issues.

I use Malwarebytes Browser Guard, the adblocker on it seems to let the ads play briefly and then closes them right away. I use all of these in my browser:
NoScript, uBlock Origin, Adblock Plus, Malwarebtyes Browser Guard, and Privacy Badger.

Keep the suggestions coming so when it gets unworkable for me, I have some options to try out. So far a laptop I also use sometime hasn't been affected yet and neither has my phone. This computer however blocks videos unless I disable it... ...or I use youtube in an InPrivate window, that also seems to do the trick for now...

*update* There hasn't been any attempt to block me from accessing videos anymore for weeks. Either adblock got updated or youtube realised they weren't going to get anything positive from it...

*update* There hasn't been any attempt to block me from accessing videos anymore for weeks. Either adblock got updated or youtube realised they weren't going to get anything positive from it... Same. I was ignoring their requests to disable ad blocker. Probably >90% of ad block users did the same. Hopefully, YT gave up after realizing they'd lose too many viewers if they tried forcing ads. I hate ads, so forcing ads would only get me to use their platform less or not at all.. and I'm not paying for yet another subscription service.

On Youtube I actually don't have any adblockers turned on currently, just stuff to block tracking and scams/malware but the Youtube ads still close themselves out. So that means the ads they're trying to show are probably trying to track and/or infect with malware/scams.

I've noticed YT channels with scams placed right in the videos. YT too busy censoring politics and user comments to have enough time for going after the scammers.

^lol speaking of which, I got a warning for saying Gretha Thunburg looks like Shrek. They must have her on a protected list or something.

Fiona in ogre form maybe, but Shrek?

It's those flaring nostrils. She appears to be in a constant state of angst. I believe she was taught from a young age to be a spokesperson on global issues. Nobody should subject young children to so much politics and worry, especially not when they have mental/social development issues like autism.

Fiona in ogre form maybe, but Shrek? Yeah fair enough, I guess Fiona would be a more fair comparison. Just in the picture of her they had in that particular video, she just resembled Shrek I thought. People have said she resembles a Troll doll or even Putin (mural in San Francisco), so comparing to Shrek seems a bit less harsh. IMO.

Well, this bullshit is back. Try to watch a video today, tells me I need to turn off the adblocker. Didn't, just unmuted the thumbnail and let it play, lol.
Maybe for the best, I wanted to get some gaming in anyway so now I'll be more picky about what I wanna watch to make the extra effort to download it, which will free up some time...

I actually got hit by this. I got it to go away.
I made sure Ghostery was disabled on YouTube, I also have another Adblock extension I use on YouTube, I disabled that on YouTube as well.
Made sure Ublock Origin was the ONLY addin I have that interacts with ads on YouTube. Then I deleted the cache/cookies for YouTube and updated all of the libraries on Ublock Origin.
Then it stopped bugging me.

I disabled adblockplus on YT but left ublock running and it bypassed it today for me as well.

Started using Brave browser, have heard this one is supposed to be really good at blocking trackers and ads. Feels very similar to Chrome and has a built-in task manager that lets you see what's using resources in the browser.
One thing, I saw a lot of ppl are recommending to turn off cryptocurrency options in it.

One thing, I saw a lot of ppl are recommending to turn off cryptocurrency options in it. I've been using Brave browser for about a couple of years or so, and it's worked great for blocking Youtube ads.. until just a few minutes ago, I noticed one got through. I changed the ad block setting (Settings -> Shields -> Trackers and Ad blocking) to "Aggressive." Hopefully, that fixes it.

I still have Brave installed but I kinda went back to using Firefox anyway. Using NoScript, Malwarebytes Browser Guard, Ublock Origin, and Privacy Badger. Was also using Adblock Plus, but uninstalled it to test and ended up never reinstalling it. I think it actually runs better without it.

These leftist sites can't handle logic. Some idiot quoted Trump (in the comments section of the below article) about ISIS being defeated in Syria specifically (he included "Syria" in his quote). I pointed out that the article was about the US killing an ISIS leader in Afghanistan, so he missed the context of the Trump quote being Syria (not everywhere or Afghanistan). Then YAHOO sends me an email rejecting (deleting) my comment and slaps me with a violation of their TOS. Ridiculous. I replied to Yahoo's email, calling them anti free speech Communists. lol www.yahoo.com/news/isis-isn-t-done-us-060015862.html?a20_comeback_from_auth=1

The sad part is, the government is probably using our own tax dollars to pay off these sites to edit and cover stuff up for them.

The sad part is, the government is probably using our own tax dollars to pay off these sites to edit and cover stuff up for them. Politics in a Democracy is definitely a war of influence and winning over minds. The internet, news media and social media, are the chief battleground and they know it. By censoring what's allowed to be said on the internet (even when what's said is simple fact, or repudiating the myriad of bullshit put out by the media themselves and ignorant/programmed NPC's), they can influence the outcome of elections and the balance of power.

Read recently Youtube is experimenting with anti-adblocking again. Haven't noticed anything myself yet, but I can also not wait for even smarter people to find yet another way around it...

Life is too short and busy as things are. Who has time for ads? If they ever figure out a way to permanently force ads, I'll just stop visiting their site.

lol I replied to a comment mentioning how Nestle stole a lot of water in California while there was a drought going on, sure enough it got hidden. Reminds me of this story.. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/07/16/fondomonte-arizona-drought-saudi-farm-water/Some of the right-leaning YT (small-time) news channels were blaming a Democrat president for allowing the Saudis to take the water (in hindsight - a secret deal, perhaps, to keep the petrodollar going for a little while longer). But the AZ state government stepped in and kicked the Saudis out, to prevent a statewide water shortage emergency and Saudi from sucking up every last drop. The US is pretty much a Technocracy now, with big tech being the richest companies on the planet and usurping all sorts of power. Government is corporate captured (including the left) and Big Tech controls (rather, restricts) free speech to a greater extent than govt itself. We're a nation morphing into what the scifi authors of Blade Runner and ShadowRun predicted (Megacorps in control). When the megacorps bring AGI or AI superintelligence online, it's gameover for government.. and some leaders in govt think that we, the little guy w/ our p-shooters are the biggest threat. pfft

Also goes to show how all these big corporations are probably paying sites like Youtube to censor anything that makes them look bad.
