So in the last few months Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, Gears 5, and now Outer Worlds is coming out tomorrow. I haven't taken the time to play these. With Game Pass you can play all of those for $5 a month and also you can join for $1 and get 6 months of Spotify Premium out of it. www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass/pc-gamesAnyone else got it?

I too have thought about getting it, I think it's a great deal. I already have Spotify Premium and have gotten Hulu for free from that subscription. They also gave me a Google Home Mini for free (still waiting for it to be sent). So I don't know if they'll give me the 6 months of it free or not.

Im gonna do it, fuck it. Its a dollar. If it sucks I will just cancel. So I get to play Outer Worlds tomorrow and only have to pay 1 dollar.

I would definitely buy The Outer Worlds on Windows Store before I ever bought it on Epic Store. I may very well sign up for Game Pass also.
I really want these games on Steam but now that RDR2 has been announced for PC (including Steam), I might save my money for that instead. I bought some new pedals for my mountain bike instead of buying The Outer Worlds.

Im hoping to get it all setup so I can stream Outer Worlds soon as I get home from work tomorrow. Have to take your Windows 10 all the way to the latest version so its doing that now. On my Macbook Air right now. Taking forever to install.

I'm installing the app. I think I already had the latest version of Win10, because it took me to everything instantly right after it installed. I already like the way this platform looks. It gave me some weird error when registering but I tried again and it let me continue subscribing anyway. Outer Worlds is installing now but I'm not too happy with the download speed. Getting 10 megs per second at best, everything else downloads at 15-20. I've always been loyal to Steam but Xbox Game Pass is a great deal and $1 for a month is just too good to pass up. Also Obsidian Entertainment is owned by Microsoft now, that's why it's possible for Outer Worlds to be on their store. Epic failed on this game.

Microsoft bought the IP (Outer Worlds) well before its release. In other words, Outer Worlds sequels will be exclusives for Xbox Game Pass (and maybe physical disc for future Xbox console/s).

Didn't get the Spotify code yet, not too worried about it says it takes time to process if I don't get it by Monday I'll email Microsoft.

I haven't received anything for Spotify yet either. I need to find out if they'll let me have 6 months of my current subscription free. I remember I got 6 months of free Netflix when I bought my phone, even though I was already subscribed they still gave it to me. I hope it's the same with this and I won't have to sign up for a new account for it. *edit* Also I checked my subscriptions and it's saying I'll be charged $4.99 a month after the first month. I read that it was $9.99 a month, so I'm not sure how I'm getting it for half that. It also has the option to have it on both PC and Xbox, but I don't own an Xbox so I opted for only PC. The funny thing is, it costs the exact same either way. Also, what do you know, Metro Exodus is also on Xbox Game Pass. Definitely gonna play that one too. *edit* Be aware, the Xbox App is BETA and it has problems. I'm having issues signing into my account, it doesn't seem to be aware that I'm already signed up with Xbox Game Pass. I've already tried a few troubleshooting steps from Microsoft but it didn't work. The funny thing is, I can still access The Outer Worlds from the game list and play it. Just can't download anything else for the moment. *edit* Okay ^ I fixed it. What I did was logged out of the Xbox app, then went into accounts option on Windows, set my account in there to allow apps to sign the account in and then I logged back into the Xbox app. Also I had restarted my system before that, not sure if that helped. I am now downloading Metro Exodus. Gonna play The Outer Worlds in the meantime.

I just logged on and made my character but its getting late here. There are new Nvidia Drivers just for Outer Worlds.
Also Metro Exodus was a lot of fun. A ton of people just can't get over it isn't exactly like the first two. Its very "Stalker Lite" so I enjoyed it.

Oh yeah, good call I will definitely install the new Nvidia drivers before I play.
Also I fixed the sign-in issue with the Xbox app, I think what fixed it was setting my Windows account to allow sign-ins on apps.

Epic failed on this game. It's still not a Microsoft exclusive though, as this game was released for PS4. That's why I thought the sequels might be exclusives though. It's funny how Microsoft is allowing some of its games on Sony consoles. Well, I just found this (so it kinda makes sense now)... Microsoft has a huge collaboration project (developing cloud gaming services) and strategic partnership with Sony. Perhaps both companies believe there's more money in shifting away from physical media to gaming as a (streaming) service. i.e. the Netflix business model. mspoweruser.com/microsoft-sony-collaboration-reportedly-shocked-playstation-staff/

That is awesome, everyone wins when companies work together like that. The problem I have with Epic, I think that they're just focused on trying to hurt Steam and throwing money at publishers for them to keep games off of it, yet they can't do anything about those same games being available on other platforms besides just Steam. I think it's a huge and blatant double standard that's not fair for anyone, especially gamers. They even apologized for what happened with Metro Exodus on Steam and said they won't do that to a game so close to release again.
If this Xbox Game Pass catches on (which it likely will if it hasn't already), this is what will "shake up" the PC gaming platform. Not the Epic Store.
*edit* I played through some of the beginning of The Outer Worlds. I really like the music in the game, the graphics look very good and I can play it on Ultra settings on my PC. Facial animations are not great, they look stiff and emotionless. The gameplay itself is fun, I can't wait to see what else this game has to offer. Metro Exodus is still downloading, the app does have very slow download speeds.
More thoughts on the Xbox app itself, now that I'm past the problems it had, I like it just fine. I will probably continue using it.

I played more of The Outer Worlds and checked out the Xbox Store some more. The graphics in The Outer Worlds aren't all that impressive but they still look nice and very vibrant. When you find the ship: {CLICK FOR SPOILERS} You have to find a ship landed nearby that you end up taking over, and these 2 guards come and try to tell you the ship is illegally parked and that you will be fined. I was pretty sure they were lying so I chose the option to attack and killed them both, then some HR guy showed up and asked what happened. Even if you're honest with him and say that you killed them, he doesn't seem to care and is like, "Okay, on your way." That made me laugh. I think it's a very good game and I'm enjoying it so far for the most part. There's plenty of NPC's but so far (except for the enemies) they all pretty much just stand still and don't really do anything, I hope that changes. It's kind of boring like that. Also liking the Xbox Store so far. I found friends on it who play games on Xbox so that's pretty cool too. I gotta be honest, this Xbox Game Pass service might keep me from buying games ever again. There's a link at the bottom of the Game Pass page that will show you a random free game. *edit* I downloaded these other games from XGP: Gears of War Definitive Edition Halo Wars Definitive Edition Descenders (mountain biking game) Any time you launch a game it makes you sign in again in a separate window, even though it's already signed in. That is kind of annoying, but I bought Controller Companion a long time ago and that lets me get through all of that easily with my controller.

I thought about doing that but thats not how I dealt with it {CLICK FOR SPOILER}They said I owed a fee and I said sorry you have me confused with someone or something like that, they showed me to the town to get a job. I'm going for a high speech skill/stealth playthrough so trying to do everything as non-violently as possible.

I'm definitely getting New Vegas vibes as I'm playing this game. One thing that is a little annoying is the difficulty, I'm playing on Normal difficulty but it seems to take ALL of my bullets to make it through just a small fight that shouldn't be so tough. I don't mind the challenge, I have to take cover a lot and dodge enemies' shots and it makes it more fun I think.
Also tried a little bit of Metro Exodus, I can play at maxed out graphics on that one too. I tried turning on RTX which is apparently now supported on some non-RTX cards, it looks amazing but made my framerate slow to a crawl so I had to turn it off. Would be nice for some screenshots though.
*edit* There are some eyesores in Outer Worlds... Animations and AI are dull, there are places where it seems like you should be able to walk through or jump over, but it won't let you and you have to go around it which has gotten me killed a few times. So far I'd give this a good 7 out of 10, but that may change as I get further in the game. I've only seen the first planet so far.

I was having similar problems with combat but I found a tactical shotgun and a plasma rifle and now I am owning shit.
I just got off the starter planet. The only "problem"(if you can call it that) is unlike the Fallout games or similar games like this is there is no real sense of urgency or struggle. You have this big fancy spaceship, tons of money and equipment so unlike Fallout no real need to survive. I might jump up to the highest difficulty I dunno. Its like in Fallout 3/NV you are trying to survive but in this you feel like you can do anything.
Also I had been thinking of building a Ryzen 3750x system with like a 2080 ti but this game is running great on my 6700hq/1070. There are frame drops in huge cities but its a single player game so meh who cares. Like I have no real reason to upgrade.

The best weapon I've found so far is an assault rifle, also found a named shotgun that is very good. No energy weapons yet, which I have more energy ammo than the other kinds. I'm on some big spaceship now that has a lot of shops and stuff in it, it's pretty cool. The way it looks reminds me of Bioshock, except in space.
I'm playing the game with a Ryzen 7 1700 and a GTX 1070 and it runs great so far. I'll be upgrading to a new Ryzen at some point, thought about getting one of the new ones this year but it's not really a priority. I've heard even the Ryzen 5's are great for gaming (especially the new ones) and you can find those for around $200.

My main issue with all these monthly services is that it's easy to get suckered into to signing up for too many of them. These companies know what they're doing. As gaming as a service catches on and becomes profitable, more companies will join in with their own services. Each service by itself seems like a great deal, but sign up for too many and you might end up spending more in the long run.

These game companies don't want people owning full physical copies of their games. Digital downloads is increasingly the only option for customers. This is some shady bait & switch bullshit, when you drive to a store to buy a physical game and only receive a box with a download code.

I downloaded Gears 5. Never got into the series, last time I played it was in like 2008 on my friends Xbox 360 coop. I had no idea wtf the story was even about.
Also yeah I remember when Steam first came out in 2003 people were saying they were going to charge $5 a month for CS if we didn't boycott Steam. We will see what happens with it. I already got rid of all my DVDs years ago.

If you maggots are talking about streaming games fuck that shit! Tried it before and fuck that input lag and having to rely on a net connection to play a streamed compressed video! Games are starting to get a little too reliant and intertwined with the internet! Fuck... it almost makes me want to go back to the Amiga/C64/Apple IIc/NES/Saturn/N64/PS1 where you just put the fucking game/disc in and it works... no hours of downloading patches and updates and being so reliant on the internet! Heck where I live the net is actually going backwards! I had 10mbit (paid for 10, could only be provisioned for 8) and now the fastest that they offer is only 3mbit! And you want to force me to rely fully on a net connection to play not even multiplayer games when we can't even get broadband to everyone in supposedly the best and richest country in the world? Yea sounds fucking dumb!

Hmm I'll have to check it out sometime although I have too many games that I haven't even started or finished yet I could literally take a five year break from buying a new game to get caught up on my backlog albeit some of the games where free like the Batman games on the Epic store I figured what the hell if I never play them they where free.... I think we have too much entertainment in this day an age...

If you haven't played Metro Exodus or The Outer Worlds yet, I think $1 is well worth being able to play them both on Xbox Store. Can always cancel after the first month too.
