Yeah, I wouldn't purchase one at an inflated rate either. It's one of those things I think I might see 10 years down the line for $20 at garage sales. Especially if they keep their word and make more. Also, they might very well do a re-release of the SNES classic down the road, like they already plan on doing for the NES classic (next summer), putting even more into circulation. What's more, it's possible that future version/s could include more games and features built-in, making them a better value than the model that's currently being sold.

It arrived. /joking. Yes, I ripped that image from the other thread where Cop used it. lol I'm not that excited about it, since I've already played at least half those games (and a few others) on the original SNES system, which I still own and keep in storage. I'm thinking about gifting it to my nephew for Christmas, since he's a big Nintendo fan (including retro Nintendo) - he was last year anyway. Well, the young lad is already spoiled by his parents, no doubt they'll buy him one if they can find it in stock.

I almost bought one of these today: www.8bitdo.com/sn30-sf30/It can be paired with BlueTooth or connected with USB which also charges the battery in it. There's also a "Pro" version with analog sticks that costs a little bit more. These things have very good reviews. *edit* Bought one today. In addition to having PC/Mac support it also works with the Switch, Wii/Wii U, Raspberry Pi and can also pair with Android devices (Bluetooth). They also make optional Bluetooth dongles for the NES and SNES Classic's that will let it work wirelessly for those, there's even ones for the original NES/SNES controller ports. I tried it in Higan with Super Metroid and Starfox 2 and it works great, feels just like the classic old school SNES controller. *edit* I tried playing Cuphead with it and it's pretty great. Only downside is, the game natively supports the Xbox controller so if you play on any other controller, you still have to use the keyboard to start levels on the map and navigate the menus. Other than that I feel like I can actually play this game better on an SNES controller, which it works perfectly for levels and boss fights.

It looks like a great controller and I'll probably get one too. However, their specs show that the optional Bluetooth dongle is compatible with the NES classic. It says nothing of compatibility with SNES classic. www.8bitdo.com/retro-receiver-nes-classic/They're selling a separate controller that's compatible with SNES classic. www.8bitdo.com/sn30-sf30-2_4g-for-snes-and-sfc-classic-edition/ Also, the Bluetooth dongle for NES classic is expensive at $40. Why so expense? If you needed a wireless controller for NES classic, might as well buy a separate controller that's made specifically for it, which is probably in the $20-30 range.

Thanks for the correction, must've been mistaken but I thought I saw one on their site for the SNES Classic too. So far this controller is very high quality though, I can tell their aim was to get it as close to the original as possible. The back of it's a little thicker at the top but I don't even notice. I think the extra thickness is to accommodate the battery, which I might also buy a cheap Bluetooth dongle for it so I can use it wirelessly. The cable it comes with is nice but a little on the short side. It also came with a cool keychain.

There was (maybe still is) a portable version of Genesis/Megadrive that takes plug-in cartridges. Not sure how well it works as portable though, since who's gonna carry around more than a couple of cartridges at a time. Spec-wise, this looks like the ultimate portable console (supposedly, it plays... "Android Games, PC Games, PSP Games,18 Simulators Emulators: PSP, NDS, DC, PS1, ONS, N64, CPS1\CPS2\CPS3, Neo-Geo, GBA, SFC, FC, MD"). $400 and imports from China, and possibly a rip-off. Would be amazing if it can actually play games from all the platforms it claims to. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5R85VY4927

As much as I'd like one of those controllers, I just ordered the controller extensions instead ($10.99 on Amazon). Could save money long-term too, since lithium ion batteries eventually go out and, when the battery is integrated (as is often the case), the whole device has to be replaced. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBH23ZE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1Trying to be smarter about spending money going forward. I already spent more than enough (mostly on building a new PC desktop w/ accessories and games over the last year).

Good points, and yeah they are a little pricey. I looked up pictures of it disassembled and the battery doesn't look impossible to replace, would require some light soldering though. Couldn't find much about replacement batteries, only a single Reddit post where someone said it is possible to replace it. Doesn't look very different from how the PS4 controller battery is installed.
For the SNES Mini the extension cables sound like the best way to go anyway, especially cause wireless is always gonna have lag too. I bought a cheap USB Bluetooth dongle but the particular one I bought wasn't compatible with Windows 10 and I ended up taking it back. I've just been playing with it plugged in with USB but when it's unplugged, it can be turned off by pressing start + X, Y, A or B.

I've thought about it and I don't think I'm even going to open the SNES Mini. Seems too rare & valuable at the moment, and I don't want to decrease its value. Maybe if/when Nintendo ups production. Besides, for now, I'd rather play Metroid and Zelda on 3DS.

With all that stuff you got in that package deal, yeah I'd probably do the same.

You are part of the problem! Because you have one sitting there unopened and unplayed, someone else, who wants to open and play it, can't get one...

You're just trolling me because I bought a Nintendo product. Nothing wrong with buying 1 of something for 1 person/household. It's not like I bought 3+ of 'em at once and holding onto the extras , like I've noticed many ppl bragging about (in the comments). www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/nintendosnesclassicedition/

Also, by me buying it, there's a good chance I prevented 1 unit from getting into the hands of a scalper. I'm not a scalper. I've never sold any of my consoles or games. I guess you could say that I'm a collector, even though my games library (for consoles) isn't huge.
Well, my PS4 digital games library is fairly large (but not exactly a collection, since it isn't physical copies of games).

Consider this... people are paying in the $200 range on Ebay (close to the average perhaps... since it's not the lowest, and nowhere near the highest price it's going for). I paid retail, or about $80. And it's not going to be scalped/resold for more. My purchase brings the average purchase price down.

Well it's not like he's buying up a bunch of em and then flipping em. As far as we know. Also the SNES Classic prices on Amazon have dropped even more, last I saw most of em are around $140-$150 now, only a few are still $200-$300. I also saw one for $110 but it said it ships from China, I wouldn't trust that one. Those jerkasses aren't even turning a considerable profit on em anymore. I'm glad most people listened to Nintendo about not buying from scalpers.

If I were doing that, I'd have an Ebay seller account and would have already directed you jokers to it. Nah, sales doesn't fit my personality, not even online sales. I worked in retail long enough in my younger years and dealing with the public isn't my cup of tea.

I know, joker. I take that back about Cop though. He's a clown - oversized red shoes, bozo hair, the whole bit.

Because you have one sitting there unopened and unplayed, someone else, who wants to open and play it, can't get one...I've actually thought about this a few days before you posted it. I realized that even if I donated it to a charity, the kid's parents would likely be poor and see this item as something to cash-in for $'s (and do who knows what with those $'s... buy booze/drugs maybe?). Much better to donate food (canned) and clothing i think.

lol
BTW I'm really enjoying the 8Bitdo SNES controller. Been playing Cuphead on it a lot, I've gotten a lot further and the controller makes it feel more fun to play. Turns out Steam lets you set up any gamepad to act like a Steam or Xbox controller. Works perfectly with some games but not all.
I really wanted to get it working with Tekken 7 but I think the game recognizes the D-pad as a D-pad while Steam recognizes the D-pad as an analog stick, and it just won't work. I might have to use the Xpad utility and map keyboard commands instead.
Might actually buy one of these controllers as a gift for someone I know who's birthday is coming up soon.

Did you really have to post 7 replies to my obvious joke about you being part of the problem?
So what are you asking for it on ebay then?

Maybe because it's something I'm thinking about and haven't decided what to do with it yet. That and I have some interest in Nintendo. So how about you? What is somebody who's known for bashing Nintendo/Mario doing by posting so frequently in Nintendo related threads?
