Is it just me or is this movie about a guy with autism who's exploited by people pretending to be his friends and then snaps? He has a singular obsession about cars. Has difficulty telling time (wraps his watch on the steering wheel.) Barely talks to anyone, only really engages with the Hispanic kid. He's overly trusting of people and unable to discern their true intentions, and he's unaware/disinterested with the money. Finally, he expresses his frustration in unusual ways.

Has difficulty telling time (wraps his watch on the steering wheel.) That's presumably so he doesn't have to take his hand off the wheel to look at the time. I've seen the film but remember very little about it... other than thinking "Why the fuck are people raving about this?" Watch 'The Driver' with Ryan O'Neal, far superior IMO. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Driver

Lmao. The soundtrack to that movie was amazing. I think you're on to something though, his behavior was pretty odd. Though as far as the money goes, I feel like he left it as a message that he isn't trying to be involved with all this shit and will fuck up anyone that tries coming after him about it.

Drive is a favorite of mine and gets a lot of flack because of the main characters behavior. To me he's just a introvert with an interesting job that leads to some thrill seeking & quick money. He has the skills, why not use them. I also notice that the director (Refn) likes his main characters to be rather quiet. The characters of both Valhalla Rising and Only God Forgives were not all that talkative, especially not ole One Eye in Valhalla Rising. Also, thanks for the suggestion on the movie BT, I'm going to check it out immediately!

Too bad they did feel the need to talk in the Neon Demon. Every single of those characters was as unlikable as shit and they only were spouting egocentrical nonsense...
