Who are they for??? I mean, who's watching them? Who wants to see the reactions of random strangers watching movie trailers or whatever? I understood when they were still about scaring people or when they were made to watch 2 girls 1 cup or shit like that, but nowadays it seems people are uploading videos of themselves looking at whatever. Surely somebody's watching these, but who and why? And what the hell can their reactions be like? If you were to film me watching just about anything, you'd see the same neutral expression on my face throughout the entire video, maybe widening or rolling my eyes if anything in particular calls for it. Can't see how that would be of interest to anyone... So again: reaction videos: who and why?

Gotta get them views! I say this as a youtube partner lol. I think this pretty much sums it up. If you're attractive you'll get views, and the more videos you put up the more revenue you can potentially make. At that point it really doesn't matter what the content of the video is about so long as the attractive person is out on display.

There's a whole show based on this retardation in the UK... it's called Gogglebox... feckless idiots filmed braying as they sit watching broadcast TV in their homes. Piss weak.

A similar show has been on Belgian TV as well. Didn't watch it, obviously. Gotta get them views! I say this as a youtube partner lol. I think this pretty much sums it up. At that point it really doesn't matter what the content of the video is about so long as the attractive person is out on display. Unless the tits are out, I'm not going to watch a video of someone watching videos, and even then I'd be hard pressed to make it more than a few seconds in. Seen the tits, next... Guess it's just one more of those modern things I'm not getting becomes I'm 'old'.

I think worse than the reaction videos is the popularity of the gameplay/commentary videos. I guess that guy pewdiepie who's the worlds most viewed/subscribed Youtube channel makes millions making gameplay/commentary videos. I started watching a couple just out of curiosity and it has me in a state of major WTF!? How the fuck can those stupid videos be so popular and garner so much interest and popularity and furthermore, make you a multimillionaire?

I've not seen (nor will I ever watch) any of their videos but I'm aware of them and a few other 'haircuts' on YT... from what I remember of PDPS ED article (a few years back now) he's a sketchy cunt who tries to come across as a sweetheart for tweener girls & Beta males to generate views/cash... thinking now I'm pretty sure I read not long ago that he was suspended for some retarded faggotry involving ISIS references. I can't be arsed looking it up.

It trigged the indie horror thing. Also PewDiePie has broad appeal. Girls who don't even like games watch him because they find him funny and good looking, kids like him because of his personality. Gamers etc etc. More to it then just Lets Play

I think worse than the reaction videos is the popularity of the gameplay/commentary videos. My kids are literally addicted to those. If you leave them unattended, within minutes they'll both be transfixed on a screen on which something like that is playing. The oldest mostly does Minecraft videos, the youngest just about anything some Dutch fucker has uploaded. Lately it's Fifa, but it used to be a lot of Ark: Survival Evolved. Thankfully most of the time they both use headphones so at least I don't have to listen to it. Some of the guys from Redlettermedia (Jack and Rich) have a game channel on youtube (Previously Recorded) but I only watch their reviews. I tried watching their (live) streams, but I just can't do it, and these are guys I know to be funny, just not all the time, on the fly, when playing games. Guess that's why there's something like editing.

Affirmation thing. If I'm a fan of *whatever show I'm a crazy fan of* I feel like less of a loser seeing people who are even more pathetically emotional about it than I am. Or something like that.
