There's what, like six active members left in this group? What's even the point of such a small group anymore? Or is that the charm of it all? A nice peaceful and quiet little retirement home of a former newsgroup glory lol. (I don't even know what that last sentence means, just sounds good on paper for dramatic effect, maybe even narrated with the voice of Morgan Freeman, but just the last sentence, the first three wouldn't sound right in the voice of Morgan Freeman - We'll go with Donald Trump to narrate the first three lol)

I completely get focusing on family instead of a website from 1998 that you aren't interested in anymore. Unlike some people way back in the day on SCMB, I never had any issues with Slacker. He never DMed me on here or anywhere else to discuss any drama. Everything was very calm. I believe we played games together on Steam like 15+ years ago. He has no reason not to reply to me except I assume he is just over talking about SCMB completely. |

I completely get focusing on family instead of a website from 1998 that you aren't interested in anymore. Unlike some people way back in the day on SCMB, I never had any issues with Slacker. He welcomed me there after 3fdxU (3dfx Underground) booted me off their site for suggesting maybe it was time for one guy (who said he wanted to play some new games soon) to get an AMD card. A number of people at 3dfxU hated Nvidia with a passion and blamed them for 3dfx's downfall, even though it was 3dfx execs own poor business & marketing decisions.. and I didn't expect they'd go into rage over suggesting AMD to one poster. The guy who ran the 3dfxU site was working on updating 3dfx drivers, so that Voodoo cards could run more recent games. I think i recall reading a comment that he got very ill (maybe cancer) and he had to give up on the project. Edit: AMD cards used to be called sometime else back then - ATi Radeon i think.. then AMD bought out the company at some point. |

I think i recall reading a comment that he got very ill (maybe cancer) and he had to give up on the project. I remember they managed to hack together some driver to allow the Voodoo 5 to run Doom 3. Obviously it looked and ran like shit but that is a pretty impressive feat of engineering. At some point you need to let go. I'm sure someone out there is driving their 1948 Tucker and refusing to let go. Or using their Aureal soundcard with hacked drivers but like come on, accept reality. Hardware hate communities are so weird to outsiders. Similar to the Nvidia hate sites in the world of high end audio there is a site an amp builder runs. He is very talented, one of the best in the industry, their whole forum is devoted to roasting every other amp builder, apparently everyone besides him and his friends are incompetent idiots. I actually own one of the products he says is built like and sounds like shit, it sounds great considering its $400 and his products start in the mid-$1,000 range. Its in his interest to shit on everything else obviously a bit of a conflict of interest to review your competitors products, especially when they offer a similar thing for a LOT less money.... |

There's a distinction though between regular, good people and haters though. For some people, cars are just a hobby (regardless of brand or year). Jay Leno's Garage is an example. He loves car collecting, and doesn't feel the need to hate on other people for driving Civics or something basic.

He loves car collecting, and doesn't feel the need to hate on other people for driving Civics or something basic. I would almost bet that the OG Slacker group before the influx of the 3dfx crowd is still up and running under a slightly different URL on the same site in secret with some of the OG Slackercentral members. Slacker was originally excited to offer up a place for the 3dfxgamers.com crowd to come and join since he was posting it on the 3dfxgamers forums (that's how I found out about Slackercentral)

The Type R is mechanically a different car with a more powerful engine, racing suspension components, racing shifter and clutch, etc. If you don't say Type R, it's implicit that you're talking about the base model.  |

We could guess it's a mental health issue. Mental health, at the individual level, can be sort of a black box. Sometimes, the only way to confirm mental health problems is through psycho-analysis of an individual. |

I don't trust him, like I don't trust most of the elite. They buy good PR for themselves, but then do things like this in their money-making dealings... I don't care for short-selling because of how it can be used to weaponize the markets (to hurt or destroy a company or even a country's economy). When you short something, you're betting that it fails. If you short something by millions or billions at a time (like billionaires or enemy nations have the resources to do), you could even cause it to fail. It's also a form of investing that's extremely risky for normal people to engage in, so it's mainly accessible to millionaires/billionaires who already have the most socioeconomic influence in the world. So shorting is another tool in their toolbelt to further tip the balance of power to their side. |
