N64 FPGA-based console clone. Could be worth a look if you're into retro gaming since N64 emulation is far from perfect. www.analogue.co/3d

It's smart of Analogue to include connectivity for CRT’s and PVM’s. I got rid of my CRT-based TV's a long time ago, but kept my NEC (CRT) monitor, which should work with this since it had more resolution modes than most monitors at the time.

Looks cool but thanks to emulators, and not really owning an n64 as a teen not sure if I would use it. I'm excited to see what 4 player Goldeneye looks like on it.

I've read the N64 and Sega Saturn emulators sill have flaws. Not even Nintendo could get the N64 emulation accurate and without lag in games like Mario Kart 64 and Zelda: OoT on their Nintendo Switch online service. Also, older console and arcade games look better on a quality CRT. Analogue is offering people an easy way to do that without having to RGB mod their original console, which in itself is expensive unless you have the skills to do it yourself.

Also, older console and arcade games look better on a quality CRT. On ANY CRT. The inherent color bleeding did a great job of masking the jagged lines of pixelart graphics.

European countries were blessed with SCART, right? We didn't have that here. In the US, many older, CRT-based TVs did have shitty black levels and drab colors, since the older consoles and many models of TV's only had the UHF inputs (and you were really rockin' it if u had a standard video connection). Eventually, in the SNES era, when I was old enough to work, I bought a 27" JVC (CRT) TV with S-Video input. That was the best image quality I experienced on older consoles. RGB was better, but i wasn't rich enough for that in those days.. RGB input was mostly reserved for higher-end model tv's and the cables were expensive too. Regardless, I'd still say "quality" in the context of the thread though because the wording on Analogue's website.. This product will be compatible with "certain" CRT's and PVM's. I suspect some of the older, lower quality CRTs might not support the resolutions they require or something like that.
