Decided to stop using Chrome because it constantly freezes ever since some recent update. There was a warning out about a vulnerability but there was an update released, didn't fix the freezing issue. Guess it's time to change browsers, probably gonna go back to Firefox or just use Edge which is actually pretty good now.

Edge is very nice now. Way better then IE ever was. I haven't had any problems with Chrome lately but deleting your profile is the way to go about fixing it. I don't recall where it is off the top of my head but you make sure you back up and export anything important, like your open tabs/bookmarks. Then you go into the %APPDATA% folder and find your Chrome folder and delete it. Then when you launch Chrome it will be back to default. You will lose everything not backed up doing that tho. Years ago I had a problem where I would open Chrome and all of my open tabs would be gone, even going into "recently closed" in History didn't solve the issue. I installed a session manager plugin and haven't had the problem since. I don't recall which one of these it is: www.guidingtech.com/best-session-manager-extensions-chrome/

One thing about my browsers and whatever else, I can't stand light text on a dark background so I always have to use Light themes. Edge has a dark theme by default but it has some pretty nice light themes too. Using a custom one from their online thing.
It's not that I don't like themes with dark backgrounds, it's just that something happens to my eyes where looking at light text or images against a dark background causes this window blinds kind of thing to happen in my vision and it also makes me feel kinda ill. Probably could use more peripheral light though, doesn't help that I'm a night worker.
Also had been having weird issues with Chrome for a while, it seems like after it's been open a while it slows way down and is using a lot of RAM until I restart it. Then after a while, does it again. Not sure, but it seems like these issues may have started when they implemented this feature that's supposed to reduce RAM usage on unused tabs. Might turn it off and see if it resolves the freezing issue.

Turned off that setting and been stress-testing Chrome for a bit now, opening a bunch of tabs while I have video playing and it seems fine, hasn't frozen up again yet. Maybe it was that setting all along.

Why would you willingly give Google even more of your data?

Why would you willingly give Google even more of your data? I know a lot of tech people use Chromium which is just Chrome with Google's tracking and stuff ripped out of it. I have never bothered.

Why would you willingly give Google even more of your data? It's not any setting that has to do with data collection, it's some new setting that's supposed to reduce RAM usage in unused tabs but it appears to cause a freezing issue, so I turned it off. Now my browser appears to be working fine again, no longer freezing. My PC has 32 gigs of RAM so it's not like I'll run out of RAM easily anyway. *edit* Here it is: The ironic thing is it says it's supposed to help keep Chrome fast, but it does the opposite. *edit* Also you are not wrong, there is indeed stuff in Chrome that collects and sends to Google which it's probably best to have all that checked off. The annoying thing is they add these options in updates and have them on by default, pretty sure that will lead to another lawsuit at some point. The only reason I stopped using Firefox was because it was always a resource hog, but gradually been using it again since that's been fixed. I think it's actually even snappier and smoother than Chrome now.

Glad I switched back to Firefox: Another vulnerability not just with Chrome but for all browsers that use Chromium like Edge, Brave, and Opera (which apparently they made the switch a while back). Chrome has already been updated but Edge hasn't.
*edit* One of my favorite things about Firefox, if I have both monitors on and it's already open on the 2nd monitor, new windows open on the main screen instead of on the screen where Firefox is already open. Every other browser I've used opens a new window where the browser already has a window open and it's really annoying. I also found this addon that lets you resize the window to any size immediately when needed, it's very helpful:
Also the default tabs in Firefox are too tall, I'd rather have shorter tabs and more space for web pages. They seem to have hidden compact mode but it can still be enabled in about:config by finding "browser.compactmode.show" and toggling it to True. Then compact mode can be enabled under Customize Toolbar under Density.
