I noticed some youtube vids lacked the option for HD recently, now I know why (because I actually looked it up). Apparently the HD function no longer works on certain OS/browsers, like for instance, my combination of Vista and Firefox. Firefox can still do youtube in HD, but only on Windows 7 and up. You know, coincidentally, what browser it would work in, on 'all OS', as claimed by the help file? Google Chrome... Of course it would, you fucking transparent pricks, sabotage other browsers to try and push your own. Well, go fuck yourself, if I need HD, I'll watch it on my PS3...

Apparently I've already bypassed it, by installing a Firefox addon called Youtube Flash Video Player that uses Flash instead of html5, which, for the time being at least bypasses this check...

There's no reason to update this 7.5y old PC anymore, like that's gonna run Windows 10. Vista is what came with it and it's the only OS I have on disc. I certainly wasn't (or am) going to buy a Microsoft OS without the computer it comes on. For what I still use this PC (browse the web, download torrents), it's more than enough. I'll tell you one more, when I had to re-install a while back, I made sure to not update my original Vista install at all and the PC just flies. On and off in seconds, not minutes like before (or like the old laptop with Windows 7 on it)...
I don't feel like I'm missing a lot to be honest. Until Google are going to be dicks about who can still use HD on their silly videos platform, of course. I should try it just to see if it'll work, but I really don't want their browser on here...
Anyone know if they have a 'portable' version of it that you can run from a USB stick, like Firefox has (for TOR)?

Windows 10 should be a lighter faster OS than Vista, but hey if it still works There might be a portable Chrome. Not sure.

Windows 10 should be a lighter faster OS than Vista, but hey if it still works In theory, but on my Win7 era laptop where it was lacking proper Win10 video drivers (integrated Intel) it ran poor as shit but it runs ace on my more modern desktop.

I've heard from several people their (much more modern than mine) PC ran worse going to 10 from 8 and that 10 is just plain bullshit anyway (you know, with lock screens and all ) I'm happy with what I've got. If they manage to annoy me too much, I'll find a solution, like when IE became too much of a hassle to use, because several sites went out of their way to make sure it wouldn't work properly anymore, I switched to Firefox and finally got in to all that adblocking and no-scripting and stuff, which someone should have told me about a lot sooner.

Congrats you are the 1%! Also working in IT I don't have the luxury of not keeping up.........I am in the middle of a Windows 10 training right now.

If I had to guess, I'd say maybe it's beta OS's, and/or Linux builds that people made themselves.

Or maybe it's all the people that don't know they're still using Vista because it came with their PC when they bought it 10 years ago
