I was trying to open up some video I had encoded in H.265 in DaVinci Resolve and it gave me an error, plays just fine in VLC. Turns out Windows 11 doesn't have built in support for H.265. If you go to the Windows Store Microsoft actually tries to charge you 99 cents to use the codec in Windows 11. I wish I was making that up. apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/hevc-video-extensions/9NMZLZ57R3T7Did some googling because nobody should have to pay for a codec. Turns out yes you can get it free and no you don't have to deal with torrents or any other form of piracy, you just go to codec guide and download here: www.codecguide.com/media_foundation_codecs.htmRestarted DaVinci and everything working fine.
