I've always thought that they've done that. Why wouldn't they? Just points out that this system was designed by profiteering criminals looking to make money. Also she had a terrible poker face when asked about her husband's stocks.

It dawned on me that there's three possible ways for China to counter a Pelosi visit to Taiwan without shooting down her jet.
One way is to fire warning shots ahead of her jet, like in the movies. Even possibly detonating a missile ahead of her jet. If Pelosi's jet got damaged, but Pelosi survived, that would be serious, but might not trigger a war.
The second way to drive their point home, and it could work with the first, would be for China to attack the airfield(s) Pelosi might use. If she couldn't safely land, she could turn around without losing face. The initial Chinese attack could be more symbolic than actually damaging, then if Pelosi's jet kept going, China could launch more missiles, even the ones that leave mini-mines behind, like have been getting used in Ukraine.
The final way, which would only be about China saving face, is if a compromise were arranged whereby Pelosi, who had landed in Taiwan, agreed to not fly home, but to travel by sea, and her jet would remain in Taiwan until she got home.
That would show some deference to China, albeit after having first defied their wishes.
There's already been too much talk of using an excuse of "had to land, engine problems" for that to not come with the risk of being insultingly transparent. Though now that I think about it, if a warning shot by China damaged her jet, that could make Pelosi's landing in Taiwan something everyone could live with, even if there was no meaningful damage.

imo, China's response is most likely a military strike against a Taiwanese target. They might do the false flag thing (falsely blame Taiwan of attacking first). But perhaps not, since they've already openly stated (in their state sponsored media) that there would be a military response to the Pelosi visit.

A CCP strike on a Taiwanese target would also test U.S. resolve and commitment to a partnership with Taiwan. Biden might not come to Taiwan's defense, out of fear that the CCP would make the world privy to the true nature of what's on Hunter's laptop (in regards to Biden & Chinese business dealings). Pelosi, like the rest of us, probably isn't aware of the full extent of those dealings or what dirt the CCP has on Biden.

And/or China could order all ships headed abroad, or just to the USA, to stay in port because of the risk of war. That could cause hoarding and some empty shelves, and price increases.
No war, but a lot of voters now angry at Pelosi, which in political terms would send a message of "don't casually frack around with China".
And they might let it get known that they called Putin up and said "Say, we just realized we had a lot of extra drones and missiles we could sell to you, now that we're not in a shooting war with America. P.S. We'd love to buy more of your oil."

How far down the pockets of the warmongers do you have to be living for the NYT's Tom Friedman (creator of "The Friedman Unit) to call you out for trying to take the crown of Queen of the Warmongers? And oh, the MIC is both putting Zelenskyy on notice and preparing a path so as to ditch him.

P.S. We'd love to buy more of your oil." Yeah, I don't think they want a war with the U.S. right now either. I've recently heard that China is actually in massive debt like the U.S. and Japan. They just cook the books to make their debt look lower. They don't have the world's reserve currency like us. Foreign nations hold our $'s/reserve currency - i.e. more $'s abroad keeps our inflation from going much higher than it already has, which allows us to generate such massive levels of debt while incurring relatively low inflationary effects. China doesn't have the reserve currency advantage, so them having too much debt could hinder their ability to sustain a protracted war with the U.S. Point being, if this is true, they'd have every incentive to avoid a war with the U.S. Taiwan is a huge point of contention between our two countries not just out of political & ideological reasons, but most definitely economic. Our military-industrial complex wants access to Taiwan's chip manufacturing to keep the weapons of war (production & trade) flowing. China probably the same and also the economic boon it would provide by completely taking over Taiwan and becoming the new owners (or war-mongering thieves, if you prefer) of world leading chip mfg that the Taiwanese people built.

Russia can sustain war for a while, despite their smaller GDP, because Putin was smart enough to keep Russia's debt low. Also, they're rich in natural resources, like fossil fuels, that everybody needs and will continue to purchase (despite sanctions and some western claims that 100% renewable is currently doable).
I'm not saying renewable energy goals aren't worth pursuing, but it has to be planned and take poorer folks into consideration. I hope Hawaii realizes that not everyone is rich enough to afford solar panels on their homes and/or they are planning on subsidizing it for ppl under a certain income threshold. Don't be another California and make everything too expensive to drive lower income classes out.

It's almost like our current lineup of geriatric leaders aren't aware that the people governing other nations are independent actors on the world stage.. not subordinate little bitoches they can push around (like they probably view most other Americans.. as somehow beneath them and only there to take orders).

If the MSM starts covering the Tornado Battalion, then Zelenskyy should pack his bags, the establishment would be almost done in severing their close connection to him.

Pelosi trying to build her own legacy (showing support for an underdog Democracy, Tawian, at the cost of militarily provoking China) before leaving office while simultaneously building partnerships with the world's leading chip mfg (to help boost her $10's of millions of investments in chip stocks). Way to kill two birds with one stone, Pelosi.

The "Inflation Reduction Act" It's more of the same though... Let's raise taxes on corporations and expect that they won't pass it along to consumers with higher prices. Let's fight climate change by investing in (more expensive) green energy and expect that the higher energy costs won't translate to broader inflation.
I'm fully aware of the arguments for going green. However, the major oil producers around the globe aren't increasing production (despite Biden's pleas). In fact, they appear to be allying against US interests. Seems the world is teetering on the brink of major wars with Russia and China, and the US economy buckling under inflation and shrinking GDP, so perhaps now isn't the best time for it.

You know they do that often with spending bills and amendments and spin it like the opposition voted against just the good sounding stuff, to make the opposition look bad. But it would be par for the course, since Republicans openly oppose Communist practices, like government price controls. Well, Communism is a slippery slope.. look at China and North Korea - all of their human rights abuses and power & wealth even more concentrated at the top (vs Capitalist/Socialist countries). Governments should definitely, without question, negotiate for lower drug prices. I'd make an exception for govt price controls of medicines, if price negotiations fail due to excessive greed. Because lives are more important than money. People will pay anything to stay alive and, sadly, greedy big pharma takes advantage of that fact. As far as who's more evil. idk. Some factions of progressive Dems push the big is beautiful/healthy narrative, encouraging ppl to eat unhealthily (through lies w/ the actual intent of getting ppl to consume & spend more), which undoubtedly leads to countless more cases of ppl with diabetes and other diseases.

By that definition post WW2 UK was a Communist country based off of the amount of government involvement in the economy. There's a reason I used the metaphor "slippery slope." I wasn't defining Communism. Also, Communism and Socialism are different systems, which is why I separated those out in my post. Maybe you got triggered because you have a certain fondness for (how you would define) Communism. I wasn't suggesting there can't be some version of reality where Communism is a Utopia... perhaps someday AI overlords (we create) or Insect-like alien overlords (invasion) take over (supplant our civilization) and make it a reality.
