I was going to give the Mass Effect DLC's a try. But evidently, EA made it a pain in the arse to install them with the Steam version of Mass Effect. There's a guide on Steam on how to do it. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=382711309Not in the mood for jumping through those hoops atm though. Perhaps after another play-through of the original game. I did get the game working on my 34" (21:9) ultra-wide monitor... As usual, WSGF sets you in the right direction for successful wide-screen gaming. www.wsgf.org/dr/mass-effectWith the ultra-wide resolution and adaptive-sync enabled, it's looking really nice. Dude just pirate that shit if you already own Mass Effect. If you feel guilty buy the DLC first then pirate a complete version. EA made the DLC free for Mass Effect 1 at some point. I already downloaded the install files. My Mass Effect key from Steam didn't work (they say EA gives out invalid keys for the Steam version). However, in the Steam comments (from the link/DLC guide i posted) somebody was kind enough to give a working key. Evidently, this key has infinite uses (and it's the one EA gives out when Steam players call in to bitch about being given invalid keys that don't work with the DLC). Everything I read, says that EA never released a complete version (including all DLC) of the ME games. The DLC has to be installed piece-meal. answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-3/Mass-Effect-Trilogy-edition-with-all-the-DLC-included/td-p/2341263Actually, I was just playing it and noticed "Pinnacle Station" on the galactic map. I guess the DLC install files i ran yesterday worked. I thought they didn't at first, because the "Downloadable Content" in the menus showed the 2 DLC's and clicking on them only showed the game credits. I didn't realize, until now, the DLC is accessed when playing a regular session of the game.

Indeed. There's a point when too much DRM makes it a pain just to install the games & DLC and makes me wonder if I should pay for their games.
Square Enix is really bad too. I bought a FF game for the PS4 and it took quite a bit of time just to get the game installed. They make you register on their site and then the game still wasn't recognized, and had to contact their support.

EA's business model, of selling DLC's in pieces only through their Origin site, is laughable. Why buy games off Origin, with its notoriously bad DRM, especially when there are alternatives as you pointed out.
If EA were really interested in making money, they'd sell the complete trilogy + all DLC for $39.99 on Steam. Given the popularity of this trilogy and Steam, they'd make millions more this way simply through volume sales.

I decided to try this PUBG clone named Ring of Elysium. It is made by the people who made PUBG Mobile.
Some twitch streamers hate it and others love it. It is very rough around the edges and not as good as PUBG but for some reason I really like it. Completely free to play.

Avoid "Pinnacle Station" DLC like the plague. The maps are tiny and it contributes nothing to the Mass Effect story. To top it off, you'll be hearing a drill sergeant shout into your comm (every time your shields drop), "damnit Shepard, those medi-gels ain't free!" In the game, your character is a Spectre agent... the "right-hand" of the galactic Council, granted all of the resources & privileges thereof, and he commands his own multi-billion credit ($) starship. Yet, you're constantly barked at like they'd do to a grunt, because they're worried about wasting credits on medi-gels.

Also, the AI is much dumber in the "Pinnacle Station" DLC. This DLC consists of simulated VR trials (not actual VR, pretend VR within the game - time trials, capture the flag, etc.). The VR enemies don't ambush you or take cover. They run right up to you and you can take them down easily with melee (even playing as a character type "Sentinel", which is weak at melee). Compared to the regular/base game, where if you were to try & take on Krogan enemies in melee as a Sentinel, you probably wouldn't survive.
Edit: Confirmed. I exited the DLC stage and went to a stage in the base game. In the base game, the NPC's use hit & run tactics. When I forcibly engaged a human NPC in melee combat, he didn't go down after several melee strikes against him and he took me down (playing on "Veteran" difficulty).
The "challenge" of this DLC is artificial. They simply throw wave after wave of NPC's at you (NPC's with practically no AI) and use a timer.
Next, I'll try the "Bring Down the Sky" DLC. They say it's better.

Well, AT&T decided to screw something up and cause an outage so I'm using my mobile data connection to have internet on my PC. It's not bad but there's definitely more latency. BDtS DLC for ME1 is very good, I enjoyed it but driving the Mako around gets tiresome. {CLICK FOR SPOILER} If you let Balak live, he shows up in ME3. I really wish they'd included him as a recruitable squad member though. SPOILER!

Yeah, it was good. I completed most of it last night, except one side quest (i.e. finding the 3 missing persons for Simon). This side-quest is a bit tiresome, because it does involve searching the asteroid in your Mako vehicle (for persons/bodies that aren't revealed on the map). Here's the Wiki map/cheat guide if anyone wants to give it a try and doesn't have the patience for randomly searching a large map. The game rewards you with over 500XP just for the side quest mentioned above. masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Asteroid_X57Regarding your spoiler. Balak deserved a bullet. However, I'm going for paragon this play-through, so I'll see that bastard again in ME3.

"Balok" (antagonist/evil alien) from Star Trek TOS René "Belloq" (antagonist) from Raiders of the Lost Ark Mere coincidence or do these villains share a common theme? Edit: the name of that Star Trek TOS (season 1) episode is "The Corbomite Maneuver". They remastered all seasons of Star Trek TOS (it's included with Amazon Prime subscription). The ships and planets now use CGI (which is ok, not great.. it's just a tv show afterall). But it's still a fairly significant improvement over the effects of the original versions of the show.

I got Hunt Showdown when the early access went live. I avoid early access but since its made by the Crytek people I trust them to finish it.
Come a really long way, at launch my 1070 was bogging down to like 20 fps in certain sections and unstable. I set it aside for a few months. Really smooth now.
Very creepy game. I only play the night mode:

I only play the night mode: I've been wondering what CryTek's been up to, that game looks pretty good. I was browsing Steam earlier and saw this game, it has really good reviews and won some awards: store.steampowered.com/app/414340/Hellblade_Senuas_Sacrifice/They say it's very atmospheric and the story is very good and deep. The graphics look really good.

Well I bought Chrono Trigger on Steam and right at the beginning, the mini sidequest where you return the cat to the girl is broken. When you try to get the cat to follow you, it runs downward and disappears. I searched it on Google and there appears to be a workaround, all you have to do is trigger the glitch and then go to where they're dancing. Then when you come back and try again, the cat will follow you:
(edit: Tried this and it still didn't work, cat still disappears.)
Still annoying and if I run into many of these glitches, I might request a refund. Returning the cat to the girl is one of those things that has an effect later on in the game, though from what I can remember it doesn't make much difference anyway.
Also there's a HUGE block in the upper right corner that says "menu" that you can click on. It's not necessary for it to be there since there is already a button you can press on the controller to bring up the menu. I started getting used to it being there and stopped noticing it so much, but I hope they get rid of that in one of the patches or at least add an option to get rid of it.
Other than that it's the same great Chrono trigger I remember. The high res graphics are very ugly, thankfully they added an option that makes the game look more like the original version. I hope they don't give up on the high resolution option though, they just need to scale things (especially characters) better for high resolutions. As it is now, it just looks like sharp blurriness. If they could make the rest of the game have the same clarity as the worldmap that would be awesome.

^I need to get back to finishing that one, I remember the start of it being really slow but the graphics are great and it's very atmospheric.
I'm playing more of Chrono Trigger, aside from that girl's cat disappearing (making it impossible to complete that miniquest) I haven't seen any other problems. Playing on Active mode instead of Wait, it's a little more challenging this way, there's still a cooldown on your party members between attacks but you have to know what your next move will be, because the enemies keep attacking too.
Beat the first boss fight with only 1 HP left on Crono.
*edit* Found a workaround on the Steam community for the cat disappearing glitch, had to use the mouse to click on the cat instead of using the controller button. I started a new game to see if it works and it does. It has something to do with the game receiving double input from the controller. I'm using my 8bitdo SNES controller to play it.

12 hours of Chrono Trigger so far, really enjoying it. I have seen quite a few animated cutscenes throughout the game, but there appears to be one for when Lucca repairs the robot in the future that is missing. Also the cutscenes don't show on Steam Link streaming, only a black screen with audio. I hope they fix that.

New game from Remedy that's coming next year called "Control" (was previously known as Project 7). It appears that they're re-using elements from Quantum Break but it looks like they're taking it to a whole new level, the physics look amazing. I very much enjoyed Remedy's other games so I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Also Quantum Break was only available on Windows and Xbox One since Microsoft published it, but it looks like Control will be on all 3 platforms.
