I have 3 monitors connected to my PC, a 23" and 25" that are both 1080p, and a 27" that is 1440p.
The 25" (Asus VE258Q) is by far the oldest, I think I've had it for 8 years. The problem is, when it turns on I can see the desktop for a split second and then it just turns off, I can't even get it to change input or get to the settings on it before it turns off. The power button has an LED that lights up blue when it has a signal, goes orange when there is no signal or it's asleep. The light goes blue when it first turns on, then it goes completely off and then comes back on (blue) and keeps doing that over and over every few seconds.
I've gotten it to work a few times by turning it off/on several times and restarting my PC, but now it's not staying on anymore. I have it disconnected for now, haven't been able to find much on Google searches. Also tried different cables, there's not a different PC I can try it on but it does the same thing even when it's disconnected from the PC, did the same when it should just go to sleep if there's no signal.
Any ideas? I was thinking it could be a backlight issue, but would it also cause the power button light to go off and on intermittently like that?
Odds are I will just buy a new monitor, maybe one with G-Sync. Still, I liked this Asus VE258Q a lot, I think it's the best looking monitor I ever owned (as far as LED screens go).

If its 8 years old its probably going. 8-10 years is probably the most you can expect out of a monitor. A lot better then the CRT days.

When I was working for the IT department in college they switched all the monitors from CRT to LCD. There was this giant 24"(I think) monitor sitting in a back room that had a note on it that said "Hold for Chris"
It sat back there for over a year and nobody knew who Chris was. Finally I got them to let me have it, Chris had his chance lol.
I think it was $1,200 new or something like that. I brought it home and used it for 2 years and one day I turned it on and flashed white and was off for good.

I remember getting one of the first LCD monitors, it was a Dell 2001FP and wasn't widescreen. Can't quite remember how much I paid for it, but it might've been around $400. It was very heavy compared to newer LCD screens.

This seems like a very good deal:
I've noticed most monitors I've seen at this price point with these types of features are all FreeSync though. Having difficulty finding a monitor at this size/resolution around that price that is G-sync.

I was thinking about getting this one, it has G-Sync. Not cheap but I saw it at $499 in-store plus they will pricematch with Amazon ($497 there).
*edit* lol I was reading the reviews on this monitor, someone took off an entire star just because the stand has red parts on it. Must not occur to that guy that he could just take the stand off and paint or even plastidip the red parts black.

I got that monitor, Microcenter pricematched with Amazon and I got it for $449 instead of $549. Haven't had a chance to test it yet, but hopefully soon. Right away one thing I like is there's very little bezel around the screen except at the bottom. One thing I hate, the LED light on the power button is too bright. I will probably put tape or something over it. After using it some more, there is slight blue hue compared to my other monitor. I turned on night light to 25% and that offset the blue, now it's more red like my Asus monitor.
*edit* first game I tried is Control, really no difference performance-wise compared to my old monitor but I like being able to leave vsync off and there's no tearing. Have it on 144hz, but the best framerate I've been able to get is 40-50fps with everything on Medium except for Texture Filtering and MSAA is off (can't really see any difference at these settings). The refresh rate can be overclocked to 165hz on it but haven't tried yet. Gonna also try World of Tanks, Mechwarrior 5, RDR2, League of Legends and maybe some old games like KotOR 1 and 2 just to see 144 frames per second.
This monitor does G-Sync but I'll have to look up if there's any special way to use it. It has a Game mode that makes the screen a little bit brighter and puts an FPS counter in the top right corner, not sure how I feel about that. It's very useful, but there's programs that do things like monitoring FPS and go even further by showing temps, clock speeds and memory usage. I like monitors that aren't so bright, so I'll probably use the non-gaming mode.
*edit* G-Sync enabled itself in the driver control panel after a restart.
Below are Control graphics settings:
