They're bringing in new creative directors (including Lucas), A-list actors (Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins), and completely new mythology (Sith gods, etc).

I'd go see it. But that's true. You can take a classic story that millions love and make it into lackluster movies. Just look at the Hobbit trilogy.

Hollywood needs to drop the PC thing and not be afraid to cast more women as primary antagonists (with plenty of lines and screen time). imo, they should do it as depicted in the video thumbnail, w/ Jennifer as a Sith. If they make Keanu a Sith and Jennifer a Jedi, it's going to be BORING.

I hope all of the above is true, Disney has done nothing but mistake after mistake with the Star Wars property since they took over. They didn't even have a plan or any kind of roadmap for the new trilogy, they just wanted to cash in on the Star Wars name above all.

Also, in the latest sequel trilogy, the dark side characters and the First Order were too overtly evil. They lacked nuance and depth. Even right out of the gate in TFA, they simultaneously destroy multiple planets (just to prove what murderous Natsi bastards they are?).
The historical analogy is perhaps the nukes dropped on Japan to end WWII. As horrific as that was, at least it was done in a more rational way by nuking one city at a time until they surrendered.

Disney's CEO stepped down just yesterday, so there's no telling what direction they'll take. a.msn.com/r/2/BB10ozWf?m=en-us&ocid=News

This is still just a rumor but:
I was really hoping they'd make a sequel (or 2) to Solo, the way it ended really made me want more of that story.

Even though the Disney Star Wars films are really good, they are focused for and targeted to children and teens more than the original movies were - and there is less consistency throughout the Star Wars universe, from the original movies to when Disney takes over. To much focus on promoting politically correct topics like inclusion or gender/race/droid/etc rights/awareness topics, too much foreshadowing, all too force fed for my liking in comparison to the subtle style of the original series - but I do like the Disney movies as Disney real does everything good but geared to younger audiences.

Yeah, all whole nazi theme and hope easily they destroy worlds now is just too much, like every series has to introduce new weapons of mass destruction that top like other movies is too lame and cheesy.

Yeah the Solo story was good, too bad Woody Harrelson died. The one thing I didn't like was how young Solo doesn't look what I imagine Harrison Ford to look when younger - I imagine someone with longer face less round or less plump, and also taller and skinnier and less silly. Someone like Ryan Gosling or Ryan Reynolds but younger I guess.

Now I know why there are no female Sith in the SW movies. The evil Sith don't promote gender inclusivity like KK & crew.
