It looks like they're actually building this computer with the intent of eventually making it available to consumers. I didn't realize there was such a huge following for old computers and ppl continuing to develop them (as well as the software).

If you haven't watched the entire vid and/or you're wondering why build a new retro computer... the best short answer is that it's for computer programming hobbyists who like to create new software & games for older style computers. The "Commander X16" is being engineered from the ground up to be much easier to program for compared to existing old computers.

btw, the Apple IIe supports color monitors (even back in the day, natively/without any modding). No doubt it's something less than VGA, but color nonetheless. Evidently, some ppl, like the guy in the YT video (above), still prefer monochrome monitors for some applications. Monochrome is arguably the best for text, due to the contrast and green being the exact color/wavelength on the EM spectrum that causes the least amount of strain to the human eye. In other words, monochrome is more aesthetically pleasing. Regardless, it gives a retro vibe.
