So I got unlimited a year ago for peace of mind but never used much data so I cut down to a $50 a month 5 gig plan from Verizon. I read an article about this new Visible network that Verizon is launching. $40 unlimited call/text/data. Seems too good to be true but appears to be no catch. Wifi hotspot and everything is included. I signed up for it yesterday and the new SIM got here overnight shipping from Fedex. Put in the SIM and ported my number, rebooted my phone and bam. Done. Working great so far. If anyone is interested here is my referral code: visible.com/referral/wJhrL

Know what I hate about AT&T? They'll give new customers 16GB of data for the $45/mo plan but someone like me who has been with them since 2011, 8 years they wont upgrade me to 16GB from 8GB unless I cancel my account and get a new sim/number! What's the fucking point of making me get rid of my phone number that I've had since my very first cell phone and putting me through the hassle of having to update everyone including credit card companies, utility companies, etc. with a new phone number just to upgrade me to 16GB? So fucking dumb!

Yea these big companies are getting to be a pain to communicate with. Not only are the employees retarded, you have to jump through hoops to even get a human on the phone anymore...and then when you finally do, "this department doesn't handle that query" and the process starts over and the next dumb person sends you back to the first and the cycle continues because when I first talked to AT&T about the 16GB upgrade the guy said that everything was taken care of and the start of my next billing cycle I would automatically have the 16GB.... That didn't happen and when I called back, they say it's not possible on existing accounts. This was after the first guy put me on hold for 20 minutes to get a manager to confirm I could be upgraded! I would so drop AT&T in a heartbeat of it wasn't for the fact that they have the best cell signal where I live...that's the only thing keeping me with them. I'll have to ask neighbors and see if anyone has Verizon.... Last time we tried Verizon here which was one of my old co-workers, it didn't work very well and I have full bars with AT&T.

Yeah, these big companies care less about their longtime customers than they do about getting new ones. It's the same over here. New customers can get all kinds of deals but customers that have been with them for 10+ years never get a discount or whatever, anything to show they care and appreciate your long term engagement with them.

@emig, yeah it's the same with AT&T Uverse, they give new customers an unbelievable deal and then customers who have been with them for 10-20 years, they won't do anything for. If you call them and complain and threaten to go another provider, a lot of times they will give you a deal. That's how we got upgraded to fiber for free here.

So Visible tries to be a "fun" network and they randomly send you shit. Some people get waterbottles and such. I got a $100 virtual gift card. Put it on my amazon account. Score lol.

Been a looong time since I thought about this thread. When I moved across the country I got Verizon's most expensive plan, was like $95 a month. I never used more then 10 gigs a month of data so I was just wasting money. I downgraded to a $50 month Verizon plan. Then I found out about Visible. Fully unlimited everything, hotspot included. $40 a month. The only catch is that your phone was on a lower priority then post-paid Verizon customers. I can live with that.
One cool thing is you can just "parties" which drop your monthly bill by $5 per person in the party up to 3 people. So a party of 4 gets $15 a month off. I joined the Reddit party which has like 1,800 people in it. That way I never need to worry about someone leaving. Dropped me down to $25 a month.
I've been using Visible for years now. They are a wholly owned subsidiary of Verizon, so everything is the same as having a Verizon plan. My phone said Visible at the bottom then one day I turned it off and back on and it said Verizon at the bottom. No idea why.
Anyway end of last year they came out with new plans that eliminated peoples biggest complaint about Visible, it got you out of the cloud only network and into the "Verizon core" apparently Visible was too laggy for playing multiplayer Call of Duty on your phone. I do not play multiplayer cellphone games so I never noticed an issue. Your phone would ping 100+ in ping tests. I never noticed this watching YouTube or listening to Spotify on the go. Everything always worked fine for me.
I figured eh I can afford it let me check out these new plans. The new plans required a new SIM. I signed up for the cheapest new plan, got the SIM in overnight shipping. Popped it in, now my phone says Visible at the bottom again. Everything working great. $30 a month instead of $25, I can live with that.
They kept trying to get me to go to "Visible+" which is their highest tier plan. I would be paying $45 a month for the highest priority. I was fine with the $30 plan. Finally they sent me a message and were offering $10 off per month. That would give me the highest tier for $35 a month instead of $45.
I signed up for it. Restarted my phone and appears to be working fine. I did some speed tests walking to work and I was getting 5G 500+ megs down. I have 1 gig FiOS was kinda cool seeing those speeds on my phone.
Anyway I have had no complaints about Visible. I use the hotspot from time to time at work to test stuff and it always works great.

Just ran a couple speed test apps here at work which has absolutely terrible cellphone reception. Pinging between 24-53.

So this is cool, I've been on this S21 Ultra since early 2021. It's the only 5G phone I've ever used.
I've seen the 5G icon turn to 4G LTE plenty of times, if always goes back to 5G.
Today I noticed it switch to 5G UW. I didn't have access to that network before. Didn't realize it had special icons.
