If I hadn't put $1,000 towards my vehicle this month, I might actually go for that.

I use a laptop hidden out of view for my home theater system. It's a old crappy Windows 7 Laptop but it serves it's purpose to play multimedia and browse the web. I rarely use it as a laptop and it runs my on my 75" screen. It has no power for gaming and there's times that I would like to game on the 75" for games that don't require high refresh/low latency but I think it would be much more cost effective to assemble a 2nd PC out of my old parts as I upgrade my main system (as of now all I need is a video card, case, OS, and a power supply). But it is nice to have a laptop around for mobile PC use like when I flashed the custom tune to my car. Also, if I'm going to get a "gaming" laptop I'd probably want to get something more top tier with a RTX 2070. www.newegg.com/black-eluktronics-eluktro-pro-x-mech-17-g1rx-gaming-entertainment/p/2WC-000M-00149Although my current laptop still serves its purpose very well, it is kinda getting aged since the built in keyboard half the keys no longer work and the battery wont charge at all (I had to run an extension cord out to the car to flash the custom tune). Luckily I use a wireless keyboard and mouse. I also got a notice that Windows 7 support will cease sometime next year and I previously tried Windows 10 on it and it was laggy as hell (no official Intel graphics driver support) so I had to drop back to Windows 7. So its a conundrum - in one hand the laptop has all the power I really need for its main intended purpose and still works very well for that use but some things are failing like the battery and keyboard and the OS is going to cease getting support soon and a newer OS doesn't run well on it and I've been trying cut down on my needless spending and I've spent a lot this year already with concert and supercross tickets, headphone/amp/dac upgrade, programmer and custom tune for my car, and a $1000 smartphone. And although I have the cash on hand to buy multiple of the best laptops that money can buy, at some point you have to put your foot down and try to control your money spending and stack some money in the bank in which I've been able to save 20k since just last summer alone just toning down my spending which admittedly I could chew through all that savings easily in much needed renovations to my home (not sure if I'm going to stay here so I'm reluctant to do any renovations for now as I would like to buy property and a home closer to work). As much as I would love a new top of the line Laptop, I like seeing my bank account grow even more.... What will probably happen is I'll probably get a new laptop in the price range of my last one (around $500-$700, mine I think was a $800 Laptop I got on sale for $500 because Windows 7 was being phased out for Windows 8) powerful enough to run all my multimedia easily but no gaming. I'm kinda the all in or all out type of person...I don't think I'd be happy with a half-assed gaming laptop...I'll probably just keep the gaming on my main desktop and get a budget and up-to-date laptop when Win7's support ceases to exist or my current laptop completely dies or becomes unusable which ever one comes first but I feel the longer I wait the better laptop I'll get for my money and I'm not in desperate need just yet....gonna make sure to get my damned monies worth out of this laptop...lol.

The laptop's intended purpose (portability) is diminished and you pay a premium. But it looks cooler and less clutter, so it's ideal if you're trying to be a minimalist. That Eluktronics model looks like a pretty good deal tho. Asus or other popular brands cost about twice as much.
