A friend of mine preordered BF2 and never even played it.

I'm not a fan of preorders. I don't trust professional reviews and I don't like being the early adopter guinea pig.
The only case where I see it possibly being worthwhile is to acquire a limited run special edition that's likely to sell out quickly and, if you snag a copy in time, you could eventually sell it for more $'s later on Ebay. But even that's hit or miss, since it depends on how many copies are released and how popular the game is.

I have SW BF 2, my favorite part of it is Starfighter Assault, that is all I play if I play it. The singleplayer campaign isn't bad but it's way too short, even with the free expansion they released for it.
The biggest problem is that it feels way too generic, like EA just wanted something that they could shoehorn loot boxes into. The fact that Disney's bringing back Lucasarts shows they know that they mishandled the shit out of this whole thing.

Then I read the article and realized it's "Lucasfilm Games," a different developer that they're bringing back.

Ahh I see.
Well, hopefully they'll still get back to making good Star Wars games. We need KotOR III for sure.
