Looks very impressive, but no apparent release date.
When Mark Hamill shared this on Twitter, it actually fooled some of his non-gamer fans. They thought it was an upcoming TV show or something.
Speaking of which, I think it's cool that Mark Hamill seems so stoked for this game, especially considering some of the things he said about the new Star Wars movies.

A link would've been nice. I'd watched a 5 minute trailer before I noticed it was already from 4 years ago, lol, then I watched the correct one.

Sorry, I put a link to Mark Hamill's twitter post in OP, which includes the Youtube link for it. Shows up for me but maybe it's blocked elsewhere.
Here is the link to Youtube though:
The graphics in this new trailer actually look better than previous trailers they have released. Also lots of familiar faces.

There are some impressive actors in it: Mark Hamill Gary Oldman Gillian Anderson Andy Serkis John Rhys-Davies (Gimli from LOTR, he was also alongside Mark Hamill in Wing Commander III and IV) Henry Cavill (Superman in those new DC movies) Ben Mendelsohn (Krennic from Rogue One) Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos from Game of Thrones) Gemma Whelan (Yara from Game of Thrones) Richard Brake (previously played The Night King in Game of Thrones, he was also in Batman Begins) Jack Huston (Richard from Boardwalk Empire) and others. *edit* Also recognized this guy (Mark Strong): www.imdb.com/name/nm0835016/

Richard Brake for me will always be Scott Ridley (see what they did there) from Death Machine.

Looks cool. I loved Wing Commander when I got my first PC, but since Freespace 2 I haven't paid much attention to space sims.

I've always hoped they would make a Freespace 3, I remember a while back even the developer said they wanted to make it: www.pcgamer.com/volition-would-commit-murder-to-make-freespace-3Freespace 2 had incredible graphics for the time it came out too (1999). Also, a while back this team of volunteers created a Wing Commander game using Freespace's engine (after it was made open source) for free: www.wcsaga.com/I played it a while back, it's not perfect and some of the voice acting is cringeworthy, but I enjoyed it very much. It takes place parallel to the story of WC3.

Same could be said for most people i think, since the space sim genre pretty much shriveled up and died around that time. Boring/serious first person shooters and sports games took over, evidently, because that's the conservative (play it safe) business decision to insuring that the games make a profit.
