Hi Mole... I think I remember you... There at the end of the Original SCMB. You registered about the time Slacker was just about finished with the message board. If I'm remembering correctly.

Mole was one of the Roxboro crew if I remember correctly. He filtered in with Trip's group who were using the computer lab at their school. It kind of signified the end of the SCMB registrations though....besides all the sock puppets that members created. Eventually Slacker shut down the new user registrations and the forums completely died after all the crusty assholes were the only ones left. lol

I chatted with him on Steam after hurricane Harvey last year and he told me about the gas shortages in Houston (from people hoarding it).

Mole hung out with me and OminaMarie in Alaska. That's cool. I've visited many different states also (Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan, Washington, etc. etc.) and lived in a few (Texas, Ohio, Tennessee). Haven't been to Alaska (yet). People (many of whom I'd wager haven't been to Texas) like to trash Texas because it's a red state. But fact is, carpetbaggers/yanks and Californians move there in countless droves for the economy/jobs. The growth going on DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) and surrounding cities is insane. Large corps have moved their headquarters from Cali to Dallas & Plano in recent years, taking advantage of lower taxes and real estate prices, so the jobs keep going there. At the rate liberals are moving there, it's probably not long 'til the Texas turns into a blue state. On the other hand, after the transformation to liberal govt is complete, it's very possible that taxes will go up and the corporations flee (again) for greener pastures.

Yeah also met while I was there, we all got to hang out. Good times. I was on 3dfxgamers way back in the day too, until they closed down. (3dfxgamers.com now redirects to Geforce page on nvidia.com)

The idea that "tax cuts lead to prosperity" is so deeply ingrained on the right that it isn't even an idea its a point of religious faith and no amount of real world examples and evidence will ever change minds. Period. Kansas enacted some of the most sweeping tax cuts ever and their economy didn't increase at all: www.theatlantic.com/video/index/558143/kansas-tax-cuts/Even conservative Republicans came around to repeal the tax cuts because they didn't do anything but destroy the budget: www.salon.com/2018/04/17/revisiting-sam-brownbacks-tax-cut-disaster-how-does-kansas-feel-about-his-experiment/

Businesses consider infrastructure, larger population w/ educated workforce, good geography/location for improved logistics, etc. Regardless, all other things being equal, corporations will choose lower costs & taxes when possible. Apple's CEO requested lowering taxes in the U.S. before he would move money & assets from Europe to U.S. Prior to the tax cuts, Europe (in Apple's case, it was Ireland, if I remember correctly) actually had lower corporate taxes. Tim Cook is gay & liberal too, so to suggest that any argument for lower taxes is pure right-wing politics is patently absurd. It's just sound business practices, from a CEO's perspective. appleinsider.com/articles/18/01/17/apple-ceo-tim-cook-cites-gop-tax-reform-as-driver-in-350b-us-investmentI'm not making a case for trickle-down economics either. i.e. Cutting taxes doesn't necessarily create more jobs in total (a corp can choose to do things like stock buy-backs, rather than increase hiring). All I'm saying is, regional tax cuts can be enough incentive for Corps to relocate and move jobs from one region to another (from nation to nation, or state to state). If you want specific example of state to state, Toyota moved their North America headquarters from Cali to Texas. Toyota didn't hang their Californian employees out to dry either, as they offered to let them keep their jobs and relocate to Texas.
