It's been a nice 13 years with the MX518 and it's the second longest I've ever used a PC part/peripheral (my case is the number one longest) but no official driver support in Win10, it was cutting out and acting weird lately and the sensitivity was randomly changing on it's own, and I don't think it had a good enough sensor for 4k resolution (I made a test screen with a solid black background with a line of white dots one pixel in size and one pixel apart and as slow as I could move the mouse at a sensitivity that was usable at 4k res, it was skipping two to three pixels). I replaced it with a Razer Deathadder Elite because I'm Emig the elite! So you guys can sleep well knowing that I got a new mousey! I wonder how many greasy schweaty fap hours I logged on with the MX518 over the 13 years I've been using it and will I get the same amount of fap time with the Deathadder? I hope not, because my ding dong will fell off! lol What's your guys professional opinion on the situation?

I had a Logitech G5 that lasted for nearly that long (12 years). The last year I had it (2015) it started having tracking problems and that's when I decided to replace it. I got a Razer Deathadder to replace it, but after 1 year it started randomly registering single clicks as a double click which was problematic for lots of games. I even tested it in that Windows utility where you can test double click to open the folder, clicking very slowly every 5 or so single clicks were registering as double clicks.
Replaced it with a Logitech G402 last year, been happy with it but I kinda wish I'd gotten an ambidextrous mouse like one of those SteelSeries ones. Would've been cheaper too.
Still, I feel like I got my money's worth with the G402, it has lots of buttons and options for them. Also I know that Logitech is a very reputable brand and they make products that last. I'm still using a Z-5500 5.1 system from them, it's going on 13 years old and they still sound great.
It's just my opinion but I wouldn't get Razer products again. I've had 1 mouse and 1 keyboard from them, both stopped working properly after just 1 year. It was a few years ago, so maybe they have made their products more reliable since then. The Deathadder was a great mouse when it worked.

Yikes! Well to be fair it was my 2nd MX518, my first one failed fairly quickly (wire inside broke/came loose and it was easily fixable). I wanted to get a G403 wireless but nobody local caries any good mice. Best Buy is turning into Walmart here (all bottom barrel mice and not even an entry level gaming mouse.) A local Staples went out of business and another had basically just the Razer Deathadder Elite, Logitech G Pro (same sensor as the higher models, just too small), and a G502 (too wacky of a shape for me). I like this Deathadder Elite. It's very light feeling and comfortable and even though it isn't ambidextrous like my ding dong, I can still use it with my left hand (that's what she said lol). Yea, I think I've combated tunnel carpal over the years by constantly switching mouse hands (I only game and fap with my right hand though......lol....but do most other tasks with my left palm). If this mouse has a problem between now and the end of the universe, I'll report back. Funny thing, I'm not even playing any first person shooters right now but the old mouse ran its course.....

I've gotten into the habit of playing most singleplayer games (especially FPS's) with a controller, it's a lot easier on my wrists. But when it comes to multiplayer, I still prefer keyboard/mouse.
I know lots of people have had great experiences with Razer products so maybe I was just unlucky with them. I did like the Deathadder a lot, as well as the keyboard, just hate that they stopped working on me right after the warranty expired.
Since they are out of warranty, I might open them up and see if there's anything I can do to fix them.
*edit* Not sure where you live, but yeah some places are like that. I live in the Dallas TX area and luckily, there are some great computer/electronics stores around here like Fry's Electronics and Microcenter, they have great selections on computer parts and even pricematch with online retailers and each other.
It's too bad CompUSA isn't around anymore, they had a great selection as well.

The nearest Microcenter is a hour drive away from me. I normally go there when I do a system overhaul (cpu+mobo+ram+videocard+etc) but they didn't have a G403 in stock (they did have a 703 & 903) and I might of drove there but I couldn't get a human on the phone the first time I tried calling and when I finally got through I was already on my way to best Buy/Staples the opposite direction plus that's a lot of driving if I didn't like the mice and didn't buy one not to mention if I had to return it, make that 4hrs of round trip driving. I'll make the drive for something major like a graphics card but not a mouse. Remember when you could go to EBgames at any mall and buy a top of the line graphics card?

Yeah I miss EB too. There used to be another place called Babbage's that was very similar. I think they became Gamestop.

I have hated every Razor mouse I have tried and the fact that their shitty software required me to reboot my PC every single day for their updates.
My Zowie FK1 is still going strong after almost 3 years now. Still the best FPS mouse I have ever used.
The strength of Zowie is they have no software at all. The mouse driver is the generic windows mouse driver. You change settings like DPI and polling rate with the mouse buttons and it saves it it on the mouse so if you plug it into another computer it has the same settings.
They were bought out by BenQ about a year ago so it remains to be seen if they will maintain the same level of quality. Supposedly Zowie is refreshing their entire lineup in the next few months and using the latest greatest sensor and such.
I'm planning on sticking with Zowie as long as they keep making amazing mice.

Hmm... Well no reboots or updates yet, lol. I don't use a lot of mice so I don't have much personal reference. The MX518 is the only gaming grade/high quality mouse that I ever owned and I am liking the Razer better. It feels much lighter during use (makes the MX518 feel like a wireless mouse with batteries), more comfortable, better buttons and scroll wheel, and the braided cable pretty much makes it feel cableless. It also feels more accurate and smoother at 4k res but not a fair comparison there since the 518 is so old. But never the less, I'm happy with the Razer Deathadder Elite. Reviews do say it's upgraded over the other older Deathadders like the Chroma. I would recommend this mouse even if you're not a gamer and especially if you're using a higher res like 4k it makes your experience of general PC usage better and more comfortable.

Wanna hear something crazy? I'm finding the default 125hz polling rate feeling more responsive and accurate than the 1000Hz polling rate on the Deathadder.

For services rendered (modding their movie board), this year my ISP gave me as (a very belated) X-mas gift: a Logitech G403 gaming mouse. Nice of them, I guess, seeing how it ranges from €55-€70 depending on where you look...
