Ok, that was sarcasm, in case you weren't aware...
Holy crap, what bullshit this series has become. So they roll up to the front door of Negan's camp, armed to the teeth. The big badass himself and all his generals (meaning: every character that actually has a name) come out and line up against a wall, apparently ready for a firing squad... ...but nobody fires!!!! They could've taken them all out in one go but when the shooting finally starts, Rick just sprays wildly over their heads, missing Negan (and everyone else). Then, after Negan's found cover, he starts actually aiming... Bear in mind, a couple of scenes before people got sniped from far away, but why use the same tried and tested method for Negan, the only character you want dead?
There was more, like a horde of inexplicably fast zombies that are always right on Daryl's tail even though he's hauling ass on his bike and they're always shown just dragging their rotten feet. What is this, slasher logic?

Well if he did kill Negan already, then this part of the story would already be over and everyone would be like, "WTF?"
Also AFAIK, Negan actually never dies in the comics. There's also hints/foreshadowing in the first episode of season 8 that Rick will show him mercy (which is also the title of the episode). They often change things in the show vs the comics, so there's no telling what direction they'll take.
I agree that this show has become crap but I can't stay away from it, I still want to see how everything turns out. That being said, I did enjoy the first episode of S8 alright but it feels like it should've been a longer episode with more in it.

I'm not saying they should kill him in episode 1, but I am saying they should kill him if they present an opportunity like that. Surely they could've staged that scene better so it wouldn't have been so fucking obvious. I mean, every single character that needs to die for the saviours to implode was right there on the ledge, lined up, ready to be executed.
It's like they don't care anymore or just want to see what they can get away with before people start giving up... ...and I've read viewing figures for this haven't been as low since the start of season 3, so...

It seemed like Negan did take a bullet in the leg. Maybe as soon as they saw Rick was about to start shooting, they all hit the floor and that part just wasn't shown.

2nd episode had more gun fight action, also a character who hadn't been seen since season 1 appears at the end of the episode.

So it's now gone from a bad zombie series to a bad war series, has it? It's all so silly, but they're acting like it's all so dramatic...

So I'm 17 minutes in to this weeks episode and it just feels like a 70s zombie throwback almost. The sound effects and music, cinematography, the acting all just seems different. So far it's the best episode of the season. Might edit this after finishing the rest.
Edit: Yeah, this wasn't a run of the mill episode, best of the season for sure. I was on edge the entire time.

I was on the edge of turning it off 17 minutes in. Seriously, it's crap, pure crap, rewatch the first season and you'll see how crappy it has actually become. All the recent shooting scenes (and the handywork) reminds me of the A-Team from back in the '80s. Hum TAN TATAN TATANTAAAN... as it's going on, it makes it a lot more enjoyable.
Instead of Negan monologues, we're now getting King Ezekiel monologues. Carol apparently became a black ops commando somewhere along the line, until she doesn't and all of a sudden for no reason walks out from cover to try and shoot guys that have their backs to her. Luckily her self-defense course kicks back in at the right moment and she manages to overpower one of the guys... ...and don't get me started on the chase scene at the end...
Oh yeah, and how about early '90s Jim Carrey showing up to take Ezekiel prisoner, pursued by the slowest zombies known to man. "They're right upon us!" 5-minute conversation, shot back to the zombies, they're apparently further away than they even were before... Don't forget the 2 deus ex machina saves for the king? First the guy with the axe comes from nowhere (even though they were in a big clearing) and at the end, I was waiting for it the entire time: the tiger of course...
This entire series has become bottom of the barrel drivel and I don't understand why I keep watching it. Just to complain about it, I guess.

Everything you listed is why I liked this episode, it was so 70s/80s camp it was great.
Also Carol is a proven bad-ass, not the first, or even the second time she has pulled off something like that.

I saw a poster for the new season that showed a tiger - what's up with that, is it like a 'sidekick' or something?

One of the camps is ruled by a self-proclaimed king who talks all medievaly and shit. He used to work with that tiger in the circus and when the zombie apocalypse happened he figured it would be a good idea to keep a pet that requires several pounds of raw meat every day... in rural Virginia... ...that's the level of realism this show is going for nowadays.
Spoiler, the tiger got killed the other day, but not after valiantly sacrificing itself to save its owner...

I've managed to read up to book 15 by picking them up cheap from charity shops, it's been good so far and will deffo get more if I see them but I still have no desire to start watching the TV series, too much good stuff I've yet to pick up on, Ash/EvilDead, Preacher, American Gods - I'd say "finish House of Cards" but I guess that's out now old Spacey's gone for a Burton.

Given the amount of American slang/gibberish you Brits have to put up with I can't cry foul at "gone for a Burton". But since I've yet to read "Husky Goes Down for a Burton" from the June 1943 edition of Boys Life, I had to Ecosia that. www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/gone-for-a-burton.htmlP.S. info.ecosia.org/what

Ash/EvilDead, Preacher, American Gods You're in for a treat. Liked all 3 so much I already bought the first seasons for all of those. Only the first 2 have second seasons by now, both of which were also very good and I'll have to buy once they get within my price range. That being said though, first season of Preacher was genius, the second was merely 'good', with genius moments...

Last episode was poopoo except the part with Gabe's big line. The look on his face was perfectly creepy.

Lol, my buddy at work claimed it was the best episode of the series so far... I haven't seen it yet, discovered Future Man and The Orville, which were more interesting last week than the Flopping Dead...

Gotta admit the last few episodes have been a little better. Because of more interesting things, I'd saved up 3 episodes but I managed to watch them in 2 days, something I hadn't been able to do in a long time. There's still plenty to mock but at least they weren't annoying me as the first 5 or so did...

I turned off the latest episode on the opening credits because it already started with Rick and COOORL walking and talking and then I noticed it was a full hour long... I'll watch the rest of it later tonight, but it certainly wasn't off to a great start.

I actually fastforwarded through several parts of it, especially the beginning where it just shows several different characters sitting around and pondering. All in all it wasn't a bad episode (as far as TWD goes lately) and there's a bit of a shocker at the end, but it was something from 1 or 2 episodes back that I suspected had happened.

Yeah, it was a long and annoying episode...
So, let me see if I got this straight, the saviours got out of their compound by just shooting all the zombies? And this was Eugene's big plan? Nobody else could've thought of that? WTF?
Then Negan sits quietly in the dark in Rick's house just hoping for him to show up?
I also noticed they're still sleeping on the ground in Alexandria. In all this time they haven't gone out and scored a couple more matresses? How rare are they? In my street alone there's at least a couple of hundred but I guess in Virginia that's a precious commodity?
Hard to take this shit seriously anymore...

I did like the first episode, yes, interesting new characters and a bit of an adventure, not just sitting in the same tired location, talking bollocks.

Just got done watching FearTWD season 4 mid-finale, was very good with some great acting and had some pretty heartfelt stuff in it. I can now safely say that FTWD > TWD.
