He's probably most recognized as the dad in Home Alone 1 & 2, I also saw him in quite a few episodes of The Sopranos. He played a detective who was friends with Tony, played by James Gandolfini who passed away in 2013.
Not yet known what happened, just that he had minor back surgery and was staying at a hotel while recovering.
Seems like many celebrities have passed this year. Just recently Chester Bennington, though he committed suicide.
