Does anybody else here buy/collect records? I seem to remember Gatsby getting a player a while back, is anybody else cool like us or are you all MP3-fags these days? Here's my collection if anybody's interested, I need to update the last couple of weeks purchases though... www.discogs.com/user/Plastic-Man/collectionOne thing Discogs is useful for is giving you an idea of how much stuff can be worth; I found this a few years ago and had to create the listing as it wasn't in the database, I think I paid £1.00, it's in very good condition - it recently sold for just over £150! www.discogs.com/World-Warrior-Street-Fighter-II/release/4350918

Naw I collect music in lossless and make multiple backups of it. Listening on my AKG K7XX headphones right now.

I have a bit over 2000 lp's that I inherited from my uncle about 3 years ago. He seemed to be going for quantity over quality. Most of them are shit, but I picked out a good 300-400 that I have ready to spin. The rest sit in the basement near the dehumidifier while I figure out how to get rid of nearly worthless records that no one wants.

Check 'em out on Discogs... plenty of stuff you might think shit/worthless can actually be worth a pretty penny if it's in good nick.

The easiest way is to put the catalogue number (usually on the rear of the sleeve, pretty much always on both labels) into the searchbox... the prices you'll see (High/Med/Low) are based on previous sales through the site. There's also Popsike which is an 'auction aggregator' which compiles info from a number of sites again, based on previous sales.

I have looked up a good number of them and while there are quite a few of value, most are too scratched up, missing sleeves, warped, Barbara Streisand etc.

I have looked up a good number of them and while there are quite a few of value, most are too scratched up, missing sleeves, warped, Barbara Streisand etc. Some scratches can be acceptable; there's an international grading standard (Goldmine) that you can use... www.recordcollectorsguild.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=17&page=1'Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK".' = Very Good Plus (VG+) - Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. Even stuff missing original outer-sleeves can sell... I have a copy of The Wonders "That Thing You Do" without its sleeve, it came out of a box of ex-jukebox stuff (all of which was immaculate/very clean) in a local shop, it cost me £0.50p... even without the sleeve I reckon I could probably sell it for at least £20.00, probably more. www.discogs.com/The-Wonders-That-Thing-You-Do/release/1575291

I have a google play account and stream music to my phone, I don't even bother pirating MP3s anymore.
