So its coming out in like 2 weeks. I loved the first 3 but I might hold off on it.
Dragon Age Inquisition is made by the same people and it had _15_ patches. That not a typo. 15. When DAI was released it would freeze at the title screen and they released a hotfix 6 hours after it went live. You couldn't even bind your side mouse buttons for a couple months. My first playthrough of DAI I missed out on some quests because NPCS disappeared and they wouldn't trigger.
It might just be better to hold off a couple months I dunno.

If it's not multi-player based I always wait. I usually catch games at the $40 price point. With EA I might even wait for a $20 sale price. Piss on EA and their nerfed game DLC shenanigans.

I still play Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, it's a lot of fun even though it's only players vs AI. I think Andromeda's multiplayer is actually gonna have PVP though (*edit* Nope it's only vs AI like ME3's MP).

Also I'm definitely waiting on reviews, reactions from people playing early access have been mixed.

I've read a little, seems that the biggest complaints are the story and characters are weak and the facial animations are bad at times. Also there's some bugs and technical oversights. But that other than that, the gameplay and shooting mechanics are very good.

Bought it yesterday, played the first hour today.
Considering what the minimum requirements call for, I am able to run the game at medium/high settings and it's very smooth so far. 1920x1080, plus I turned off resolution scaling. Everything's set to medium except for texture and shader quality, those are set to high.
Minimum specs call for: Core i5 3570K, 8 gigs of RAM and a GTX 660 2GB. I have that exact CPU but 12 gigs of RAM instead, and a GTX 670 4GB.
Other than that, it's a fine game so far and I have yet to see any wonky animations.
*edit* Been playing it more, compared to ME1, 2 and 3 the gameplay is very different. Just like in DA:I, you can move freely and jump. You also have a jetpack that lets you jump high and/or forward quickly, which I've been using a lot just to get around the map quicker. I also turned a few more settings up to high and put texture detail on Ultra, still very smooth framerates.
Also haven't encountered any crashes yet, which wasn't the case with DA:I when I first played it on PC, that had some very nasty instability/crashes. One time it actually made my PC reboot when it crashed.
As for the story and characters, I haven't seen much of them since the opening cutscenes but so far, I am enjoying the combat and exploration. To be honest, I skipped much of the beginning cutscenes cause I found them kinda boring. I listened to just enough to know what was going on.

Played even further into it, I actually think it's great so far. I did see those stiff facial animations that people were talking about, but it's really not that big of a deal considering the scope of the game. Graphics are good, still getting good framerates. Lowest I've seen it go is 25, so I'll probably turn a few settings back down to medium. I think the extra vram I have helps too, I've seen it use up to 3gb with current settings. Gameplay and combat are very good, feels much more fast paced than the other games. Andromeda also feels kind of reminiscent of the first ME game. *edit* Also still no crashes. People also complained about the first Krogan you meet having a weird voice but it's a female krogan. actually the same actress who voiced Josephine in DA:I. Was also surprised to hear Kumail Nanjiani's voice as a Salarian character (Dinesh from Silicon Valley).

^I think I've seen other videos by them, I remember one with a Watchmen cartoon and a few others.
Finally got to the driving part in Andromeda. The physics and animations of the Nomad are not so good. They're passable, but like the characters' faces, the animations of the suspension and wheels look stiff and not very fluid. I think the Mako in ME1 had better animations.
Other than that, I'm still enjoying the gameplay and combat. It looks really cool when you travel around the map in the ship too, gives you a sense of deep space traveling. When you arrive at the planet or wherever, you can actually see it from the ship if you look out the window.
*edit* Also (besides looking very similar to Farscape), I've always seen elements in the Mass Effect games that are reminiscent of the old Wing Commander games. The way you are on this ship that travels around space, you can explore the ship and talk to your crew mates, even the shuttles look similar, and there are dialogue options that can have different outcomes later on. The last 2 WC games were also published by EA. Maybe someday, they'll do a crossover but I'm pretty sure EA is done with Wing Commander. The last game they made (Arena) was pretty crappy.

BTW this "shitting pants while running" animation: I actually saw it happen but it's not easy to do. While running, you move left and right very rapidly. If you do it correctly, this animation starts happening but it's actually pretty hard to keep it up. Easier to do it on a keyboard, but I read that Bioware is gonna address these types of unintended animations in an upcoming patch.

^I pretty much agree with what he says at the end, the story, characters and dialogue are not so great and there are some technical issues. But if you put all that aside, it has very good gameplay. I'm actually tending to skip a lot of the dialogue, but I remember doing the same thing with Dragon Age Inquisition. As for the actual gameplay, I think it's a blast and reminds me of how they did Inquisition, just now it has guns and a jetpack. and the story does get better as it progresses. It also reminds me a lot of the original Mass Effect.
I like Andromeda just as much as I liked Dragon Age Inquisition. It's a very big game with plenty of exploring to do and stuff to find, plus it has very fun combat. Also all the abilities and powers aren't class-restricted, you can choose whichever ones you want. Right now I'm leveling up like a soldier but I also fully leveled up flamethrower, which is a very awesome power.
