Took the day off work, about to go see Star Wars in about 20 minutes.
First I decided to check the first episode of The Witcher. I just finished Witcher 3 + DLC in I think September. Cautiously optimistic about the show.
Starts out well enough but some cheesy acting in the middle. Not bad for a first episode. Going to watch the whole thing this weekend I think.

I was gonna watch it but I ended up re-watching Chapter 7 of The Mandalorian. I'll watch it after.

I checked out the first episode. In the first few minutes I was already annoyed when a 2m+ tall monster and the guy come up out of the water which then for the rest of the scene only turns out to be about a foot deep. They were completely submerged up to the point the only thing you saw of them on the surface were just a few bubbles. Takes me out of it, man...
He then went on to be a desaturated, brown and grey cliché fantasy town to have a boring (and cliché) conversation in a tavern (We don't want your kind around here). 5 minutes in I was already checking the time. After another long and boring conversation to some wizard guy, about 15 minutes in, I gave up. Nothing that was said plotwise up to that point l particulary wanted to see play out. I skipped through the episode to try and find something interesting but it was more desaturated brown and grey with what looked like another typical medieval battle sequence somewhere in there. Nah, pass. I don't care nearly enough to have to sit through all of that.
I started season 4 of the Expanse instead, which I instantly liked better, even though I would've been quite satisfied to see the series stop at the end of season 3. I'd heard the only reason there is a season 4 is because one of Jeff Bezos' children was a big fan of the series...

The first couple episodes are setting up the main characters, 1st episode ends with one kingdom invading another.
I'm not expert on The Witcher because there are a lot of books and games and I have only played Witcher 3, its been cool seeing characters like Yennifer, Triss, and Ciri in the show. If you have never played The Witcher games then those names will be meaningless to you.
It really picks up by the 3rd episode
Understandable if you don't like it. I tried multiple times to get into Game of Thrones and it bores me to tears. Similarly I have seen you guys talk about Walking Dead, I have siblings obsessed with that show and I have tried really really hard to like it but I just don't give a shit. I even skipped to like season 5 or something like someone suggested, I lasted like 20 minutes and turned it off.

Finished the season. I enjoyed it. It has 3 times lines going to start which goes down to 2, then they all come together. It ends on a cliff hanger but it didn't bother me much. Onto spoilers: {CLICK FOR SPOILER}Yennifer, Triss, and Ciri are very important characters in the Witcher 3. This season was a good introduction to all of them.
The start of the Witcher 3 is training with Ciri and looking for Yennifer, the end of this season had Geralt meet up with Ciri for the first time and the first thing she asks is "who is Yennifer?"

Understandable if you don't like it. I tried multiple times to get into Game of Thrones and it bores me to tears. The wife watched all of that, I didn't, but none of the times I looked over my shoulder while she was watching GoT, did I see anything I would like to investigate further. I guess I'm just completely done with medieval fantasy. LotR did it perfectly and I don't need to see any other attempts... ...that being said, I will at least check out episode 1 of that LotR series they have planned. Season 1, those 6 episodes, are perfect (or at least they were back in the day, I haven't rewatched them in years), but everything after that is downhill. As to why I keep watching? I have no idea. I've almost given up plenty of times. I sit through just about every episode of that (and Fear the Flopping Dead, which went downhill even faster) against my will, lol. I guess I should've stopped sooner but now I've invested so much time in it, I have to endure it to the end. Like I said though, I haven't really liked that since season 1. I think I keep watching that nowadays just to make fun of it. I certainly don't understand how it still manages to be as popular as it is. It's complete and utter shit if you think about it. All it is nowadays is a soap with the occasional zombie in it (though they've at least ramped up the zombie threat in the latest season again, the past few seasons they didn't even seem to matter anymore). It's devoid of any intellect, so I guess what that means is the real zombies are the people still tuning in.

Trying to decide if I'm going to resub to Netflix to watch it. I might wait until Stranger Things next season comes out so I get more bang for the month.

I liked it, but didn't love it. Probably gonna watch it again though.
I think the actress they got to play Yennefer looks way too young, but she did great nonetheless.
