Near 1:17 where his arms kinda illogically flail a bit, that is how Lossless Scaling can look at very low frame rate if you spin really fast and then the footage is slowed way down

At least she was a UK politician, somewhat limiting her global influence. We have enough bad ones over here in the US. One of the most widely hated in the US (even by many Republicans) was Kissinger. Although he was a victim of Nazi persecution in his youth (being from Germany and having Jewish heritage it appears), as an adult (in US politics) he was more than knee-deep in the Watergate scandel as well as helping Nixon open the diplomacy doors to China so that they could eventually (today) become the biggest rival and most powerful enemy of the US. He died only just last year and was deep into politics (with his analysis and commentary) up until his death. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Kissinger

AI movie. It's bad. But the rapid improvement over just a few years is kind of scary, especially considering that they're teaching it about war, covert tactics and battle strategy. It's able to construct story & dialogue that more or less makes sense, even if it's somehow "faking" its understanding of language. Today I had a recommend about Silent Hill 2 Remake popup in my YouTube recommends. I am a bit burned out on YouTube videos about the remake honestly but I had never heard of the channel so I decided to click on it.........it was a montage of AI generated and random clips found online plus an AI voice basically reading a PCGamer style review of Silent Hill 2. I was shocked how many views it had because the quality was so bad. Tellingly the comments were disabled. If that keeps up and AI gets good enough at fooling he algorithm YouTube is going to devolve to the point the recommended videos feature is worthless.

If that keeps up and AI gets good enough at fooling he algorithm YouTube is going to devolve to the point the recommended videos feature is worthless. They say AI scales with compute power, so i would think so. On the other hand, Google (a major AI player) pretty much owns Youtube. right? Theoretically, they could utilize their own AI tech (integrate it with the Youtube platform) to outsmart competitor AI's. Moore's law for semiconductors already ended, however, they've been advancing photonic chip technology in the east. interestingengineering.com/innovation/china-silicon-photonics-chip-breakthroughBiden's CHIPS Act was a nice idea, but we're so far behind on existing chip tech and playing catchup. By the time we do, the Asia markets will have replaced it with photonic chips. Probably should've just dumped all the CHIPS Act money into AI instead, because that appears to be the area the US already leads in. Whichever nation creates AGI or ASI (human or superhuman level AI) first is probably going to end up dominating in most other areas anyway.

Mogwai has a song called "George Square Thatcher Death Party" that I'm pretty sure is about Margaret Thatcher. The lyrics are hard to understand but it sounds pretty political. Also they're Scottish, which I know there's been beef between them and the British.

This was a lot more fascinating than I thought it would be: Aerogel is cool stuff. Keep waiting for revolutionary materials to become more common.

Knew about it having incredible insulating properties, but had no idea that the powder of it is also completely hydrophobic. edit - also was reminded of Starlite, another type of insulating material invented by a British hairdresser who died under mysterious circumstances. Whatever the formula was, it went to the grave with him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarliteAs far as anyone knows, no one has been able to replicate it. edit - wow apparently that changed, says a company called Thermashield did replicate it in 2013.

Dude probably inadvertendly just messed up a lot of people's favorite dogging spot, lol.
I once stopped on a freeway parking because I needed to piss real bad. When I was standing there in the bushes, an older guy approached me. It was never dangerous or even uncomfortable, he also didn't come too close and kept his clothes on, but eventually I understood what was going on. Guys just use that spot to jerk/suck eachother off, no harm no foul. I just wasn't aware and that guy was just checking to see if I was up for it. I certainly wouldn't claim I was sexually assaulted...
*edit* Now that I've watched the video a little further and actually saw the guy, lol, that young dude is such a pussy. Dude is old and frail as shit, he's no threat to him at all. Should've just walked away and not get law inforcement involved. Guy just wanted to nut, preferably with the help of someone else, but let's be serious he wasn't going to rape anyone. Just an old gay guy trying to score, in a place where he's probably done so without any problems for years...

It's easy for a group of nerds who've readily adapted to the digital world to criticize men in the lower 1/2 IQ. Remember, it was barely a half century ago that the low IQ, decent pay jobs started to vanish. The idea that everybody was born equal (same strengths and/or intelligence) is a lie. Probably >50% of men out there could never be engineers or computer geeks because they're simply not smart enough. These men are struggling financially. Therefore, women don't want them (because most women don't date men of lower socioeconomic status than themselves. Therefore, there's this huge population of directionless men who've given up hope. That's actually a problem, because if/when the social safety nets collapse (and they probably will, given the govt's debt/overspending trajectory), we could see a situation where millions of men can't afford basic necessities like food. Then an era of roaming gangs and warlords begins, like something out of a Mad Max movie.

This movie was very mediocre overall, but this is one of the best end of the world scenes ever. Was worth sitting through the whole thing to see this part.
Only thing is, I am pretty sure the family hugging before the solar flare hit would've already been dead from the heat and radiation before the blast. Especially evidenced by how the pond in central park evaporates rapidly ahead of the fire, same with the snow melting from the mountains.
