It's important to have 60fps on your phone. The S11 will have a 120Hz display.
108 megapixel camera
8k video recording
I can't wait! I have the cash set aside already!
Wish we could stop calling them phones though so people can't say that we don't need this or that on a "phone". I rarely use mine as a phone since nobody outside of work talks on the phone anymore (they either text or post shit on facebook)
When can we just start calling them 'Hand-held Smart Devices' and not smartphones? The phone part is rarely used on my device. I take tons of pics and videos though and use my phone as a wireless modem, GPS, and music player that integrates with Android Auto in my vehicle - I even use it as a vehicle code scanner and resetter. The phone part, got no use for it... you can't even call most companies and talk to humans anymore... Today you either text, or post a selfie on Facebook...nobody talks on the phone anymore...

Tons of people talk on phones, just not you. Some family members still call me on the phone. Back when I was still dating, up until about two years ago (before I became a MGTOW, without even having heard of it yet.. hah), I noticed that women (under 40) mostly preferred texting over speaking on the phone. Men generally prefer talking on phones though, for conducting interviews and such (mostly based on my interactions with male vs. female recruiters, when I was job hunting).

Gotta love tech.
So my S9+ got the Android 10 update a couple days ago.
Normally I eject my sd card when I do major updates. Android is notorious for messing up sd cards during OS upgrades.
I figure hey its Android 10, they probably fixed that.
My phone comes up and under storage my sd card just says "Corrupted"
Wow. Way to go Google.
All is not lost. My sd card is 200 gigs and it only has music and 2 weeks ago I made sure I had backups of everything.
Years ago I encoded my music in 256 mp3 when I was still on a 64 gig sd card.
I took the opportunity to just copy over everything lossless. Been meaning to do this for years.
Maybe 10 years from now Google will get their shit together and you won't need to eject sd card when upgrading your OS.

Huh... I never had that problem with my SD cards and updates! And I've been with Android phones since the S2!

I was planning on getting the S20 Ultra soon as it dropped but kinda getting cold feet. My work will pay for it but I dunno. I might just wait till the middle of the year.
Besides the small crack on the glass there is nothing wrong with my S9+. Battery life is still good and its still fast.

Hmm... I'm highly interested in the S20 one reason is the improved low light camera performance of the Ultra (the regular and plus should also be improved with the larger physical size lenses but the Ultra is where the true upgrade is going to be) so I'm in mega research mode right now.
So ATT will give me $300 credit for my old S7 and I could keep my S10 as a backup. Samsung is giving $600 credit for my S10 + $100 instant Samsung Accessory credit but I would lose a nice backup phone. (they where also giving free wireless buds for plus and Ultra purchases but I think that offer ran out already)
What's holding me up is...
-Uncertainty of the actual low light camera upgrades of the regular and plus model over my S10 and the Ultra being too large and heavy (and pricey) -I just spent $4200 on shingles for my roof, $1300 on a RTX 2080 Ti OC, $1300 on a laptop and it's my off season for work.....yikes... -Not too happy about losing the 1/8" headphone jack in the new phones since my old truck only has a 1/8" AUX port to play audio on but I could get a bluetooth receiver but I'm skeptical of the sound quality and the fact that it's another device I'll have to manually power on every time I start the vehicle since most of them don't auto power on when the vehicle starts -Weird aspect ratio with the phones getting taller but not necessarily wider so more black bars for 16:9 video content
So I know the Ultra will be more of a legit camera upgrade that I'm looking for since it will have a periscope lens and more hardware optical zoom than the regular and plus models but it's size, weight, price, and lack of a headphone jack is a turn off. If only they could of put the camera of the Ultra in the form factor of the regular S20 I probably would of already pre-ordered it without much hesitation but as of now there's enough negatives piling on with this series to keep me more on the edge of not upgrading. I did hear that the low light camera performance should be improved even on the smaller S20s because of larger physical lenses but I have yet to see a test plus they won't have the nice hardware optical zoom of the Ultra (I think it's actually 4x hardware/10x Hybrid/100X digital with only really being great quality at 10x and usable only to 30x and the rest is is gimmick/marketing/poor quality). If I don't figure it out by the time the trade in offers expire then it will most likely be a definite wrap of not getting it at all. It's been said that the wide angle lens even on the Ultra has been downgraded in some ways and isn't as wide and high res as the S10 because they sacrificed a little resolution for better low light performance. So in some ways it's give or take but since I go to a lot of concerts the low light upgrade is a definite plus for me.
The battery life looks like it will be a good upgrade across the board of all models. 120Hz display @ 1080p and later to the higher resolutions with a 'possible' software update.
My local Best Buy has all the S20 models on display already, I might go check them out today. My local ATT store only has the Plus model on display.
The only time that I upgraded from one year model to the next was the S2 to the S3 then I skipped to the S5, then to the S7, then skipped three model years to the S10. This would only be the second time in my life jumping from one year model to the next but getting $300 credit for a phone that's selling brand new in the box in the $80 range I think is a good deal to offload my old S7 that I'll never use again and $600 (plus $100 Samsung Accessory instant credit) for my regular S10. Really don't know what I want to do.... I would say if you guys don't really care about camera performance I think you would remain happy with the S9 and up although the added screen real estate without a notch and less borders is really nice. When I went from the S7 to the S10 is was a dramatic upgrade in every way. Now I would be basically upgrading for the camera but how much is it worth to archive your memories and moments in the highest quality available...you only live once and can't take the money to the grave...hehe.

Besides the small crack on the glass there is nothing wrong with my S9+. Battery life is still good and its still fast. Dude, if your work is paying for it then it's a complete no-brainer. And how do you people (the masses) always crack your screens? The oldest phone that I still have in my possession is a S3 and it still looks like brand spanking new. No cracks, scratches rub/wear marks, nothing - it could be passed as brand new. I gave my father my S5 which was mint condition and a week later the screen has a crack all the way across it! He claims to never have dropped it and doesn't know how it got cracked. I work outdoor construction, put my phone in my Jet Ski while I'm out tearing it up and since the S7 in which I used for three years don't even use screen protectors anymore and still have yet to put even the smallest of nicks on any part of the phone. My boss gets a new phone and literally within a couple weeks the screen is completely shattered and has to be replaced...

Never managed to crack a screen ever. Then a couple months ago I was getting out of my car in the parking garage and pushed my phone into my pants as always. As I was stepping out it slipped out and bounced face first off of the cement floor of the parking garage, turns out what I thought was my phone in my pocket was my wallet and the phone was hanging half way out. Very small crack you can't even really see it during normal use my brain filters it out completely.

Not too happy about losing the 1/8" headphone jack in the new phones since my old truck only has a 1/8" AUX port to play audio on but I could get a bluetooth receiver but I'm skeptical of the sound quality and the fact that it's another device I'll have to manually power on every time I start the vehicle since most of them don't auto power on when the vehicle starts I have a Kenwood head unit in my car. It is bluetooth and only supports upto AAC. The cool thing is tho when I turn my car on it powers up and autoconnects to the phone & starts playing music. all automatic. I thought about getting a $600 Android Auto head unit but I am so used to controlling my music from my actual phone or the buttons on the stereo. "If it aint broke don't fix it" When I was in a rental while my car was in the shop I was shocked how awful the stereo was in the 2019 Toyota RAV4. Like Toyota is a reputable brand not considered budget at all. I sat and played with the settings for a while and it sounded absolutely terrible.

I installed a double DIN Pioneer touchscreen with DVD player in my truck but it's a old one that only really supported the iphone to connect and play music over USB. When I plug an Android phone into the USB is says device not supported. Android Auto head units are $600? Yea that's definitely not happening since my truck isn't my primary vehicle (my car came with Android Auto stock and also Apple Carplay). I'm not going to lie, Android Auto is nice. It's like it's almost never outdated because when Android Auto gets updated on your phone, you automatically see the results on your old head unit. It's nice having perfect integration between your vehicles built in stereo and your phone. I still use Android Auto in my truck since the only difference is that I'm using the phones display instead of the head units display. My old Pioneer head unit does have Bluetooth, but it seems like it's for voice/phone calls only or music playback is disabled for Android devices since it seems like it was marketed towards iPhone integration.
Yea some vehicles stereos can be pure awful. My Lightnings stock stereo is awful and just changing head units was a nice upgrade but the stock speakers still suck. My Civic with Android Auto is passable for stock and in fact the best stock system that I've ever had in a vehicle, but it's not great by any means. My Camaro was laughable because the rear speakers weren't even screwed or bolted in and it used those cheap plastic press in things and they would vibrate so bad distorting the sound. I think I might of even screwed/bolted them in at some point to fix that issue but for a $37,000 vehicle the sound system was a joke and it was marketed it as a "premium sound system".... I think someone on the Camaro forums found the OEM of the tweeters and I don't think they even costed a dollar, lol.

All Android Auto stereos don't cost $600 but I wanted to get a good one not the cheapest one. Get this your phone would be perfectly capable of using USB to your current stereo but Google stripped out the AOA 2.0 USB functionality as a depreciated legacy protocol. This is to make sure Android Auto is the only thing they support. Your S10 and my S9 have the hardware to support its a software issue. I'm curious can you control Android Auto just from the phone? I have been using PowerAMP since I got my first Android in 2011 and it "just works" This is a big reason I haven't upgraded. It took PowerAMP a few years to roll out support to Android Auto and I don't want to have to mess with settings or be forced to use touch screen controls. Anyway if you want USB support Android Auto is the only game in town.

I'm curious can you control Android Auto just from the phone? Yup. Totally voice controlled too, don't even have to touch the screen if you don't want to. But all the touchscreen controls work the same as your head unit but on your phones display instead. Both portrait and landscape mode supported.

Played with all the S20s today at Best buy and compared to my S10 and to make a long story short... The only real camera upgrade is the Ultra, the optical zoom and low light performance is a nice boost. The problem is that it feels too bulky and heavy to me. The Plus model is like the perfect size/weight but the camera isn't really any better than my S10. Bummer, I don't think I could deal with the bulk and weight of the Ultra in my pocket all day. If they could of got the Ultra's camera in the weight and size of the of Plus model I would pre-order without hesitation. The 120Hz screen looks kind of gimmicky like those smooth motion settings on a TV (soap opera effect) and not a true unprocessed 'quick' 120Hz like on a computer monitor. The haptic feedback feels much more premium. Here's the deal I get with my S10 as a trade in for the Ultra ($600 for the S10 + $200 in instant Samsung store credit) I think the size and weight of the Ultra is ultimately going to be the deal breaker. Maybe by next year they could slim the Ultras weight down or get that level of camera in the form factor of the Plus? It would be a killer camera for sporting events and concerts - you all seen my pics from my S10, image a 10x lossless zoom instead of just a 2x zoom and with better low light performance... I thought about just leaving my TV's remote in my pocket for a day since it's a Android note device but it doesn't weigh much, not even as much as my S10 since there's no camera or phone calling hardware in it and a smaller battery but with squared corners and thinner depth but wider screen so maybe not the best way to test Ultra size in my pocket for a day but putting it in my pocket and sitting down with it in my pocket I can definitely tell it's much more noticeable than my S10....hmmm.

Ok the hemorrhoids when blazing and I couldn't resist anymore so after a third trip to the store to fondle the new phones and hours of research and overthinking I caved and ordered tonight....
Just now the damned USB-C to audio jack adapters are not only out of stock but not even visible on the website for backorder anymore! Grrr... only silver and grey leather cases remained and I didn't want to leave any money on the table from my instant $200 accessory to murder credit so I went with the more expensive leather case along with with the Galaxy Buds+ which pretty much totaled the $200 gift credit and left me with $0.02 where the cheaper silicon case would of left me with $20.02.
Now I just need to come up with a way to adapt the audio for my truck. Some bluetooth adapters are battery operated and have a short 5hr run time and that's not going to cut it. Maybe the USB-C dongle to USB-C + 1/8" audio jack might be better or a wireless charging mount + just a USB-C to 1/8th audio jack adapter. Should receive the phone buy the 6th. Some of the early preorder people already received their phones....
Oh I got an additional $40 off with this referral code if anyone is interested that someone posted on androidcentral: ref-7s8j2d
Kind of sad to trade in the S10....we went on many adventures together...Ariana Grande/Normani/Social House, Supercross, Monster Jam, Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson, AMA Motocross, Slipknot/Gojira/Behemoth, Ariana Grande for a 2nd time (lol, nothing stalky, just a normal everyday run of the mill nothing too weird or out of the ordinary fan, I promise, lol...), Five Finger Death Punch, Three Days Grace, and Bad Wolves.... I wanted to keep and mount this phone on a plaque forever for all the epic memories it captured and archived for me! 2019 was one hell of a year...nothing was really planned ahead of time and most of it all came on a whim...it was a good fun year. 2020 has already started on a bad foot...

I have a Verizon store a 5 minute walk from my work. I dropped by yesterday right as they were putting the S20 Ultra out on display.
Its rather large but feels good in my hand. Played with the 120hz screen a bit.
Still on the fence. This isn't time sensitive for me at all. At anytime I just order the phone and then submit an expense report and my company issues me a check.
I'm debating waiting till the Note 20 drops in August. Or if the battery holds up in the S9+ till next year.

I've had it since the 4th. It might go back. It's one step forwards in some ways, one step back in others. It's a great outdoor long range camera with it's nicer optical zoom but it doesn't want to focus on close up macro shots where my S10 focuses instantly. Macro shots are cool when you want to take a close up pic of that weird bug you see out on the trail or some small object you might want to post online for sale to show close up detail of condition etc. The rumor is that there is a update in the works for the camera focus problem (it also focus hunts a lot) but I don't think I want to take the risk in keeping it based on faith alone that it "might" get fixed then get stuck with it if it doesn't. On the other hand I would hate to return it and then a patch gets released that fixes the camera and I would of lost out on the pre-order/trade in deal and wouldn't be able to justify the cost of a yearly upgrade at that point. It's been a big debate what a software update can actually fix and some of the problems 'could' be unsolvable due to the actual hardware. So I honestly don't know what to do - it's a gamble either way except keeping my old phone costs me nothing and I know what I got and could wait till next year until the tech matures.
One plus side is that the larger screen and tuning of 35% blue light reduction makes it much easier on my eyes - I don't get nearly as much eye strain as I did with the S10.

At this point I'm probably going to wait for the Note 20 to drop.
Since I am on the Visible network I checked in app and you can get the S20 Ultra shipped with free overnight shipping. Just order through the app.
Since its almost May I'm just going to wait and see what the Note 20 brings to the table.

Yeah the Note 20 Ultra looks great. I'm surprised it doesn't have a 5,000 ma battery but 4,500 is still big. My s9+ is 3,500 ma and after two years as my daily driver it still has good battery life.
If Visible supports it out of the gate I will order it through the Visible app. You get free overnight shipping on all of their phones you order through the app.
$40 unlimited data is awesome and I don't want to give it up if the phone isn't supported by Visible. They are super picky about what Android phones they allow on their network. The S20 is supported but the Note 10 isn't. I could potentially go back to Verizon but its $80 for unlimited data last time I checked.

At this point it is the middle of September so I'm going to just wait till January when the S21 is released and get that. When my old Moto X Pure got to the age my S9+ is it became almost unusable due to battery issues. I'm hoping the S9+ will hold up fine for a few months till January. If it dies I might just order a used S9+ to hold me over till the S21 drops its ridiculous how cheap it has become: swappa.com/buy/samsung-galaxy-s9-plus

I doubt I'll get the S21...I need to go back to what I used to do which is to wait three years, three phones to upgrade at these crazy prices. Well, unless Samsung temps me with another aggressive trade in program with all the free goodies and top price trade in value of my current phone. We'll see but at some point I like to keep a phone for a backup and not trade in.

Nice. I was going to post in this thread but didn't get around too it.
My S9+ is still going strong. Be 3.5 years old in a couple months. I think it is time tho. I am going to keep it as a spare not do a trade in.
Haven't ordered the S21 Ultra yet. Way it works with my job is I order the phone then submit an expense report and they reimburse me. Can do it once every 2 years.
I looked at some benchmarks and damn the Snapdragon 888 is way faster then 845 in the S9+. Looking forward to messing with it.

I ordered the S21 Ultra 512 gig last night. Should be here on Friday. My S9+ isn't as worn down as my nearly unusable Moto X Pure was at this point but the battery life has gone down substantially since last summer. I've noticed it getting hot to the touch when streaming video which it never did till a month or so ago. The lack of a headphone jack sucks so I picked up this dongle: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08H89VZKQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1The Meizu MasterHIFI measures very well and puts out a ton of power and is fully supported by Android unlike the Apple dongle which is functional but has volume issues. Audiophiles swear by the Meizu and its only $22, pocket change compared to some of the audiophile shit I have bought over the years.
