Inflation didn't take off under Trump because his policies made the US a net energy exporter and we had cheaper energy (than before or after his term). The price of energy affects the price of goods because goods have to be shipped. The other (deflationary) thing Trump did was lower the cost of skilled labor by doubling the total number of foreign worker Visas. People given those worker visas unfortunately have to agree to lower salaries, otherwise, their visa gets cancelled, they're sent back and replaced with someone else.
Trump's spending was excessive and so is Biden's. They're both responsible. The "he started it" to try & get off the hook is about as juvenile as you can get, because it's quite literally something kids say.
I don't doubt corporations are padding prices and doing shrinkflation (making product sizes smaller, for the same or more $'s). However, that's not the only cause of recent inflation. A big factor was from global supply chains breaking down due to the lockdowns that forced businesses to close and made workers stay at home (especially in China because of their zero covid measures - look up some China or Asian source on your own if you think that's right-wing bunk, then get back to us). Also the uptick in energy prices at that time and government overspending (both Repubs and Dems). You can't increase the money supply by trillions and expect that it won't devalue your currency. It's a phenomenon that's been proven over & over in history, such as post-WWI when the Germans went on a money printing spree to try and lift their economy out of a Depression.
You could argue that we needed the stimulus spending due to covid lockdowns putting the brakes on the economy. So there's that.
Fiscal policy of excessive spending right now is clearly the wrong move though, as supply chains have recovered and businesses are open. Cutting spending (to pre-Trump levels) would've been much better than raising interest rates. Higher rates slow business growth and make it more costly for citizens to borrow money (to purchase homes, etc). Cutting spending is deflationary, so they wouldn't need to raise interest rates.

do you not remember how every single person who applied for unemployment in the US got 300 extra added onto their unemployment? That is just the tip of the iceberg. Just a FYI, I got an extra $600 a week on top of my normal unemployment, not $300.

Note that Nissan/Infiniti has 3 out of 10 on the shit list, backing up what I said about that brand being garbage. The Japanese government dropped its case against Carlos Ghosn, so it appears he's off the hook. After escaping Japan in a shipping box, Ghosn fled to Lebanon. Lebanon has no extradition treaty with Japan, so the government probably just gave up knowing the case was at a dead end. www.nytimes.com/2022/03/03/business/nissan-greg-kelly-verdict.htmlEdit: 4 out of 10. I missed the overpriced Infiniti topping the list on first count.

People tracked down the exact store that picture was taken. I remembered his name IRL was something Nahrgang and he's a comedian. Thought maybe it was Greg but turns out his first name is Mike.

Surprised to see the Altima on there, was always my understanding that it's a great car. Nissan's were very good up to the late 90's and early 2000's, but then quality started to drop off in the 2000's (following Nissan's strategic partnership with French car company Renault). The variable compression engines and CVT transmissions are junk compared to what's in their older cars, as Scotty explains. This Nissan he's working on - the owner's only had it a year (w/ 14k miles) and 12 trouble codes.

That's saying the part they don't tell you out loud.. They're not just soft on something like possession of weed (something almost everyone could agree with). Good PR talking point though.

French cars are and have always been shit. There's probably nothing Japanese left in Nissans except for the high end sports models like the Zs and GTRs. They are popular over here because they are cheap, but most people quickly find out why. Friend of mine at work even managed to blow up the engine in his Nissan Qashqai, driving it normally. Complete write-off, car was barely 5 years old. Too light an engine in too heavy a car and shit French parts. Peugeot/Citroen, same deal, and now even Opel too since they acquired them. I always point people to the fact that if you spot a car with a broken front light, notice how often it is either a Peugeot/Citroen (or indeed a recent Opel). It's staggering. Of all the brands driving around here, how can it almost always be just one of those 2 (which is basically the same). It's such cheap shit, which is the only reason they are so popular, just because they are cheap. Over here there is this box driving around in massive numbers, which is available in 5(!!!) different brands. Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, Fiat and even Toyota offer the exact same car (with a different grill) just because it's so cheap and most people have shit (or no) taste in cars and will just go for the cheapest option. It's the Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Partner Teepee/Opel Combo/Fiat Doblo/Toyota Proace City Verso and it's a proven fact couples that buy it have stopped having sex...

I worked at Nissan in the early 2000's, during Carlos Ghosn being their CEO and forming the strategic partnership with Renault. You're exactly right - the partnership was about platform and parts sharing across the two brands. Gran Turismo 2 on the PS1 had all of those brands and i played those as those Euro cars just out of curiousity. They're mostly shit for racing in the game, since they couldn't be (turbo) boosted nearly as much as Japanese cars or to lesser extent even the American car brands, which I'd say would be fairly accurate in the real world. The devs poured lots of love (for cars) in that game. Despite graphics that don't hold up (and weren't even that great back in the day, after already having experienced Gran Turismo 1), the characteristics of cars (ones I read reviews about) were pretty accurate in the game. Example: Dodge Viper was ridiculous fast (even stock), but had very poor handling (too easy to spin out due to being very front heavy and RWD), just like reviewers said it drove irl. You could win races with the Viper in the game, it was just much more challenging because of the massive oversteer.
