^Cyberpunk 2077 is kinda slow to start but once the story gets going, it gets really good. There's a lot of sidequests and stuff to discover all around the city too, it's one of the most detailed and alive game worlds I've ever seen. Especially after the 2.0 update and expansion. Also the mods and upgrade screens used to be a LOT more complicated, they actually simplified them quite a bit. Got around to trying that 60fps mod for Star Fox and it's highly imperfect, sometimes the controls don't work like they are delayed. The 30fps or maybe even 20fps mod works much better.
*edit* Actually the delayed controls might not be the mod, might just be the controller input on this emulator, it's sluggish at times. Could be due to overclocking it in the settings, or it's just an inferior emulator compared to higan.

Got Cyberpunk for cheap on GOG but I just couldn't get into it...too many buttons and body modifications to remember. Probably why I like more simple RPGs like Horizon over Skyrim which is just way too over complicated, especially if you put the game down for any measurable amount of time and then when you pick it back up you can't remember what does what lol. But either way, Cyberpunk didn't capture me and take me in enough to play through the entire game without putting it down and forgetting about it. I can honestly say that I've never completed a Grand Theft Auto game... I think that its the grind of traveling around the entire game passing the same scenery over and over again that makes it start to feel very repetitive and time consuming to get from one mission to the next... I recommend giving it another chance. You don't need to remember any body modifications at all. If you want the game to be easy just go QuickHacks/Smart guns. The Int skill synergizes and controls both hacking and smart guns. Melee is also pretty damn overpowered, the DLC has Mantis Blades specific powers that are very powerful. I had to turn the difficulty from Hard to Very Hard just to make it a challenge. If you just want so shoot people and not worry about either of those that is a perfectly viable path as well. You can put a ton of points into Cool which levels up stealth and guns. The story in Cyberpunk is great, it took me about 7 hours to really get into it, the DLC is excellent as well glad I got it. You don't need to focus on body mods if you just want to experience the story.

Using the mod that makes it rain constantly, using a motorcycle as my main ride to get around. I turned into a parking lot and didn't realize the back was flooded. Stopped. I tried to call the bike and it said it would be 5 minutes while it got repaired, switched to a different car. Never saw that before. Also I called a car I don't usually use and it somehow fell out of the sky and landed on its roof, people were running in all directions screaming. That made me laugh. Thinking of taking a break to finally play Diablo 4 but I'm waiting to see the epilogue of the DLC.

Oh yeah I found a frame gen mod that is universal and doesn't require disabling signature checks, but I guess you don't have to worry about that anymore having a 4000 series. Still, the frame gen mod works very well, nothing to complain about at all.

Just finished Life is Strange True Colors at around 2:20am...thought it was about 12:30am or so...time flies in this game...lol. Guess I liked the story enough to stick it through... Might even replay from the second to the last chapter just to see what how different routes of the story turned out.

Still, the frame gen mod works very well, nothing to complain about at all. Last night I turned off Path Tracing for the first time since I got my new system. Was just marveling that the game seems to look a bit more realistic with it off, not sure what it is but something with the lighting. Played with Ray Tracing vs Path Tracing..........and Cyberpunk crashed and kept crashing at the title screen. Tried removing mods, tried disabling ReShade, Steam overlay, Discord overlay. Verifying integrity in Steam. Absolutely nothing helped. Then I Googled the error I was getting more and people said deleting your settings file was the only way. Cyberpunk stores your controls and graphics settings in the same file. Fuck, so I will have to set my controls back up? Oh well. Deleted my settings file and sure enough it launched fine........going to avoid trying to do fine grain control with Ray Tracing/Path Tracing. Either on or off from now on.

I got kinda spoiled with path tracing, I just like how it makes dark areas look realistically dark, especially the interiors of cars and other spaces that aren't in direct light. Even when the sun is coming up in the morning, you can see how it hits the buildings and how other areas not in the light are still shady. But I think the game looks great either way, one bad thing about path tracing is that it does make parts of the game way too dark.

Such a valuable tool for tweaking stuff.... That and a flashlight mod that integrates itself into the game very well.

Can confirm RTX HDR is pretty amazing.
I wanted to test Dragon Age Inquisition. My Origins was out of date. So I downloaded the "EA App". It said I needed to buy DAI even tho I had it installed .......lol
So I launch DAI and after a minute in finally opens.
Turns out I was in the DLC in the ancient Deep Roads nobody has explored. The blue glow was perfect to test AutoHDR vs RTX HDR.
When maxed out DAI looks great for a 10 year old game.
Also my staff looked amazing in RTX HDR.

Sadly I am having issues getting RTX HDR to work with the Thief games. I really want to replay Thief The Black Parade but HDR is just non-functional with it.
In Doom 3 however RTX HDR looks amazing...........I was sitting marveling at lights in a 20 year old title, HDR is that much of a gamechanger when done right.

So the Nvidia App and RTX HDR are great, however with the default settings it A)Causes a performance hit, sometimes substantial B)Reduces image quality, people have posted screenshots and details in textures disappear. You can fix these issues by putting this file in with Nvidia Profile inspector and setting quality to Low, this greatly decreases the performance hit AND has higher image quality. Its like the 3rd download on the list: www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/781?tab=filesWant to know something funny? I couldn't figure out why Nvidia Profile Inspector kept crashing when I used that file......turns out I was using a very old version of it. Everytime I upgrade my computer I always copy C:\Games\ to the next one. For some reason it never crossed my mind to upgrade Profile Inspector. Its always just worked for the stuff I use it for. Crash went away when I went to the latest version.

Been looking for a new game, can't find anything interesting. As soon as I think that I might be interested in something, I find out it appears like an online play only game (Texas Chainsaw Massacre for example)....grrrr...fucking hate online gaming anymore. Maybe I'll have to give cyberpunk another whirl...but I'm definitely not feeling it.

I literally got Control for free years ago on the Epic store (I guess it was a move to draw people over from Steam) but I'm so pissed at Epic Games I won't even install their stupid storefront.

Finally playing the Diablo 4 story. I went with Necro and found a good summons build......then I saw another build for Bone skills........I realized when I got to like level 25 I ran out of space for skills and I needed to pick and choose. You can't have a built based around like 6 skills it doesn't work like that. So I simplified. I just want the story right now not really interested in doing a full season playthrough. I have no idea if my hardcore guild from Diablo 3 has a presence or not. I left their Discord like 4 years ago when I quit Diablo 3 and haven't spoken to any of those people since. RTX HDR looks absolutely amazing in Diablo 4, found this post with values to match color/gamma: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1b03yfg/rtx_hdr_paper_white_gamma_reference_settings/Its funny to me, a month ago I didn't give a shit about HDR, now its the main thing I try to get looking right. RTX HDR is still in its very first Beta release so it has issues. It stopped working completely in Diablo 4, I even restarted my PC. Still didn't work..........so I launched another game and it came back, went back to Diablo 4, working fine. It has all kinds of little problems like that ofc since its literally Beta 1. Funny thing is I forgot in Diablo 4 you can just respec at anytime unlike in the old days when you couldn't respec at all and just had to roll a new character. I was using Bone Spirit then found this 2 handed Legendary Scythe that upgraded the Bone Prison skill to have this crazy 250% damage bonus. I was like "Damn wish my build worked with that" then I realized it could if I wanted. So I respecced from Bone Spirit to Bone Prison and swapped in the Scythe, worked great

The most iconic encounter from Diablo 1 was The Butcher. People talk about playing Diablo at like 8 years old and getting to The Butcher and screaming and closing the game lol.
Anyway I ran into him in Diablo 4 but I got cocky and he killed me. When I went back to where we fought he wasn't there. Hope that wasn't my only chance.

I recommend it, just focus on the story don't worry about maxing out cyberware. I'm glad I stuck with Cyberpunk. Just like Mass Effect. Mass Effects intro mission did not grab me at all. It wasn't till I got off the starter planet and into space that Mass Effect really started to grab me. Glad I got to experience what is arguably the most epic story in gaming. Control is a really cool homage to the SCP Secure Contain Protect series. It has an X-Files meets Twin Peaks feel, and its a minor spoiler but its set in the same world as Alan Wake. The Alan Wake DLC for Control was excellent, great horror content. If you do get into Control be sure to upgrade the DLSS .dll, it is perfectly functional without it but it was the first game ever to support DLSS and image quality and performance has come a long way since then. Control and Quake RTX win the title for making my 4080 Super put out the most watts.

Speaking of Control I forgot someone made an HDR mod for it. Unlike other HDR methods that are universal, its specifically made for Control. I meant to try it when I got my new PC but haven't got around too it yet. www.nexusmods.com/control/mods/90He also made one for Starfield, which I still have not played.

Starfield reminded me too much of Fallout 76. Watched a YT vid that explained how the planets in Starfield aren't persistent. Each area on a world is like a seed, dynamically created upon landing, and does not connect to other areas on the same planet (not a simulation of a persistent reality).. unlike Star Citizen. imo, the worst part of Starfield are the NPC's. The uncanny valley creepiness is something awful. BG3 is so much better with NPC's.

The problem is when playing, you end up grinding and doing the exact same things as in FO76 and it feels pretty much the exact same, every planet no matter what it looks like. Guess I could go back and do the story some more, maybe it gets better.
I got very into FEAR again, great atmosphere and story. I remember being really impressed by the physics, like on this one level I blew up a fire extinguisher and it also took out windows around this nearby office.

I got FEAR installed and got EAX working, then listened to people through the walls, can pinpoint exactly where they are. I miss the days when people cared about audio.
After Diablo 4 I was going to either play Alan Wake 2 or Baldur's Gate 3. Its so strange they released a sequel 23 years after part two.
Turns out they just released another massive patch for BG3, Patch 6. Changes a ton of stuff the community had been complaining about and adds new features.
Then I saw a digitalfoundry video saying they are about to release a huge patch for Alan Wake 2 adding a bunch of stuff.
Like these games have been out for months and months and I feel that by playing them I am missing out because I didn't wait longer.
Imagine if Cyberpunk released right now with all the patches and DLC its had. Plenty of people would be calling it the best game of all time.

I heard BG3 is a game that let's you do almost anything. Their previous game Divinity Original Sin 2 is absolutely amazing. Its like a classic 1990s/early 2000s overhead RPG upgraded fully 3D with a ton of quality of life improvements and Xcom inspired combat. Amazing game. I had played till the end of Act 1 and it let me know I would lose all my sidequests if I continued. Sat on it for like 2 years. Then I think over COVID I finally finished it. For sure in the category of best RPGS ever made and best games of all time. Never actually finished BG2, my HDD died the first time, right in my freshman year of college, I already had 50+ hours into the game at that point. Like I have said on this forum before, I really wish I would have waited a year or so to play Dragon Age Inquisition so I am taking my time playing BG3.

Found Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition for $6 here and went ahead and bought it: www.zoom-platform.com/product/duke-nukem-3d-atomic-edition - also went ahead and bought all the other Duke games they have on there. Wasn't too sure about the site but it's legit, the game runs great and has no issues. did have to customize the controls a lot before it was comfortable to play, it's one of those games from before WASD.
This was one game I always wanted for my collection, I have a retail CD copy of the original Duke Nukem 3D but never had the Atomic Edition extras.

I'd recommend looking into source ports to make sure you are getting the latest features. I think Eduke is the best port but its been years since I've looked into Duke3D. I know Blood finally got a proper remake in the KEX engine, then due to some licensing issue they stopped making patches. Still a great port.

Finished the Diablo 4 campaign tonight. It was well done. Since you are not fighting a Prime Evil like the previous games the scope doesn't feel quite as epic. Some amazing cinematics. Pixar quality. Leaves you on a cliff hanger.
There are some cool cameos from the old games, it transitions into the endgame buy tying it into the story.
I enjoyed it but honestly it feels like a remake of Diablo 3 with the color pallet turned down.
Need to figure out if my Diablo 3 guild moved to Diablo 4.

Looks like a patch for Alan Wake 2 dropped today. I'm annoyed with myself. Back in December I think Alan Wake 2 was on sale, and also I got an offer from Epic for like 25% off anything, even if it was on sale. So I could have bought it for like $20 instead of $50. I had everything in the cart ready to go. Then I like left to go to the gym or something and kinda forgot about it. Now its back to full price. So debating if I want to wait for it to go on sale again.
I wonder if its possible to just play through the Alan Wake DLC again in Control even if you already finished it once. Might do that to refresh my memory before I play. It was a really cool DLC and did horror well.
