I downloaded Quake 2 RTX www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/campaigns/quake-II-rtx/I'm running a 1070 not a 20X0 so its not going to run it full speed. I overclocked my gfx card but was getting 9 fps, weird seeing a game use 100% GPU and 5% CPU. I dropped the resolution scaling to 50% and I got a much better 25-30 fps. Looks really good even with the low res assets, haven't played Quake 2 single player in 22 years. The lighting is really cool.

Finished Metro Exodus. Marks the first Metro game I have ever taken the time to go all the way. Good game. It does suffer a bit from what Alien Isolation did in which it feels like certain section wear out their welcome.
About 85% of the way through the game I got hit by a bug where my flashlight/nightvision stopped working. When you go into a heavy radiation area it disables your electronics and they are supposed to come back on when you leave the radiation but in my case it didn't. Ofc one of the last sections of the game is in a very dark place so all I had was my lighter to navigate all that crap.
I don't get all the backlash against Exodus in certain sections of the community. Its a solid game.

Fallout 76 is free to play this week, also they added a new battle royale mode which I've only played it a few times so far, not sure what to think yet. It's tough for sure, once you die you are out and can only spectate or quit and join a new match. There are lots of people playing right now too, even on regular Adventure mode.

So yeah, because of Chernobyl, I'm currently replaying S.T.A.L.K.E.R., unmodded and everything, just plain old Stalker and to be honest, I'm kinda loving it all over again. I'm also convinced I'm doing the best I've ever done. Snagged a weapon very early on that's better than anything I ever had so soon. It's one of those weapons Duty uses, with the undercarriage grenade launcher built in, but converted so it can take the standard AK-type ammo that's plentyful in the first few areas you can visit. All the accuracy of the later weapons, but early on. Christmas came early.

STALKER is great vanilla but modding adds a ton to the experience.

The STALKER Lost Alpha is also worth checking out. I think at one point of it, I fell down a hole inside a building and ended up in some kind of creepy basement area. There was no way out and I had forgot to save before that, so I was trapped and that was basically where the game ended for me. I haven't looked at it in a while, maybe it's been updated since.

I played Lost Alpha the first couple weeks it was new like 4 years ago or whenever. It was actually a leak and the team was pissed off about it so it was hastily patched. I got to a point in the story where it told me to go talk to an NPC and the NPC was dead on the ground, no way to advance the story. It has been patched multiple times but Lost Alpha actually doesn't have the best reputation in the stalker world. I am a little out of the loop but it has a lot of empty space with nothing in it. I actually modded for perma sprint and it still took forever to get places. Its worth a look but the addon mods for Call of Chernobyl is what all the "cool kids" play. Misery is extremely popular but has some very vocal detractors, Anomaly and Dead Air are two mods built off of Call of Chernobyl and really flush it out. There is actually a team completely rewriting the engine from scratch as well. I recommend reading www.reddit.com/r/stalker/ for the latest info and people a lot more knowledgeable then me. If I was getting into Stalker mods today I would probably start with Anomaly. www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-anomaly

I just completed it but I think I just might have overdone it a tad. I went from 45 hours of total playing time from the previous 2 times I completed it (and a restart after a few hours the very first time) to 84 hours, lol, I just might have done a few too many missions. Even after buying an exoskeleton (200K) and the second best armor (160K) before leaving for Pripyat, I still had about half a million credits left. I arrived at the final portal with 2 of those 160K armors in prime condition (I even left an exo suit untouched along the way) and some 500 bullets for both of the guns I was carrying. A Vintar BC (obviously) and that futuristic machinegun that's only found in the NPP.
Don't think I ever had so many great artefacts either...

In Anomaly/other CoC based mods it combines all 3 games into one crazy map. It basically turns Stalker into GTA. I did a playthrough with war mode where I went as an Ecologist(lol) just to have them take over the map. Nothing like seeing the ecologists drive Duty and Freedom off the map. Good times.

I found out they made a remake of Secret of Mana. Loved that game as a kid. Its getting meh reviews because they didn't really add any QoL changes or anything just made it 3D.
Some of the mechanics haven't aged well at all. Its a very simplistic basic game at its core but deserves a nod for being one of the first good ARPGs as plain as it may be. The end of the game becomes a slog and I have run out of desire to play it pretty much.
I also found out they are remaking Seiken Densetsu 3 as Trails of Mana in 2020. It was never released outside of Japan but I played the fan english patch on a SNES emulator in college and it was really well done. I wish I had played it as a kid because it really improved on Secret of Mana a lot.
I kinda wanna stream it, I only played it once and it has multiple branching stories for multiple characters forcing you to replay it.

If anyone is interested in Stalker Anomaly it is a pain in the ass to download from moddb. Someone made a torrent that gives you the latest version of the 1.5 beta. WARNING: Apparently this site can try and give you malware. I have uBlock Origin and Ghostery installed so torrent downloaded just fine for me. torgamez.com/pc/stalkeranomaly/1-1-0-3142

Fair warning though, I had to open up that page in Firefox using NoScript to actually get the torrent link to work. When I tried to click on the link in Chrome, it kept bringing up other sites saying that my system was at risk and that I needed to download something to fix it.

lol I was about to buy it but then realized it's already in my library. I don't think I've played it yet. I'll give it a try some time, it kinda reminds me of Deus Ex, which I love that series.

Sleeping Dogs was fantastic. I was a little disappointed when I got out of the first area and there were cars, which aren't great. But the combat is enjoyable.
I'm playing Borderlands 2, because it turns out the Pre-Sequel is terrible and Australians can't make videogames.

Decided to play some Witcher 3, I have never been able to get into it. I tried Witcher 2 back in the day and was like eh, this one I'm liking a bit more but not grabbing me like Dragon Age grabbed me. In order to have the best experience I hit up Nexus Mods and sorted by most popular of all time: www.nexusmods.com/witcher3?tab=popular+%28all+time%29Tangent but why do people get so angry when you mention mods? I hate hackers in multiplayer games as much as anyone but single player mods are amazing. The autoloot mod for Witcher 3 makes it so when you kill an enemy you immediately loot them which saves a lot of time, I used the same mod for Dragon Age back in the day. Yet people online are like YOU HAVE TO PLAY VANILLA THE FIRST TIME OMG! Why do people even give a fuck?

Finally making some headway into Witcher 3. I dunno why the game just never grabs me. I turned it down to the lowest difficulty just so I can move the story along. Some characters have finally come along that are kinda interesting and I'm enjoying exploring the world but its no Dragon Age or Mass Effect for me. The main character is so boring. Look at me I'm the big badass witcher every girl I walk past wants to fuck me I'm so tough yadda yah. lol.

Obviously, I didn't play it long enough to know if the story is any good. But I played it long enough to know that the game-play is very repetitive.

Its been growing on me. I have everything set to Ultra besides the hairworks. The graphics are good but not amazing. Last night I checked my settings and at some point my texture quality went to low, wtf. Set it back to Ultra and it looks much better.
Also this happened, lol:

Finished the main story of Witcher 3 and one of the DLC. Their are multiple endings and I guess I got the 2nd best ending. The first DLC was really solid.
I still prefer the main story line of Dragon Age but where Witcher 3 excels is the sidequests. It really has flushed out sidequests compared to pretty much any other game I have played.
It took me 10 hours to warm up to the whole game, I still say Geralt is a boring character, so monotone and just meh.

I've hardly been playing any videogames whatsoever since I took up MTB'ing. I'll definitely play Cyberpunk 2077 when that comes out though, it looks great. Looks very much like Deus Ex. Hopefully it won't end up being Epic Games Store exclusive like a few other games I wanted this year.
Also getting kind of tired of games being Epic Games Store exclusive, PC has always been its own platform but now these multiple storefronts are splitting the PC platform itself into multiple platforms. I was gonna buy Control on Steam but that one too is exclusive on Epic for 1 year. Guess I'll just have to wait until next year.
I'm sure there's nothing wrong with Epic Games Store, it's just that I want to play games on Steam because it has in-home streaming for smart TV's in other rooms and as far as I can tell, no other of Steam's competitors have that yet. I read that Epic's working on some kind of streaming service for their store, but it doesn't mention if that means the games themselves will stream over the internet, or if that includes in-home streaming like Steam has.

I've hardly been playing any videogames whatsoever since I took up MTB'ing. MTBing is a great hobby to have. I used to go everyday after work and on weekends. Sadly I have been slacking lately. Where I'm currently living doesn't have nearly as good biking as back home so it kinda ruins my desire to go. I'll definitely play Cyberpunk 2077 when that comes out though, it looks great. Looks very much like Deus Ex. Hopefully it won't end up being Epic Games Store exclusive like a few other games I wanted this year. I'm playing Cyberpunk for sure, having stuff broken up into different stores is highly annoying but in the end the consumer should win out due to competition. It reminds me of the early 2000s when Steam was still new and people absolutely hated it. I have a bunch of random friends player Borderlands 3 so I got it on the Epic Store. It comes out next Friday. A guy I know is a huge borderlands nut so he is taking the day off work so he can stay up till midnight Thursday and play till like 6 am.

Yeah it's fun and getting me into shape too. I had been sick for a long time, always getting heartburn and always had a lack of energy. I went to the doctor and got treatment for what was wrong (ended up being an eroded esophagus but part of it was also psychological). That along with quitting smoking at the beginning of this year definitely helped. One day I woke up and felt completely better, like lightning struck me in my sleep and restored my spirit. I've been full of energy ever since, been jogging or biking almost every day of the week. I think I'm in better shape than I have ever been in my life. There's some fun trails around Dallas, the association in charge of them does a great job of maintaining them and keeping them safe: www.dorba.org - my favorite trail so far is Sister Grove, it looks and smells the nicest, very rural area that is far from city limits. I'm still definitely a beginner, but if I ever get good enough I don't think I'd mind traveling to other mountain bike trails some day. I heard there's some good ones in AR and OK.

Gears 5 looks like Armageddon in a game.
It even has cameos of the Terminator and Linda Hamilton/Sarah Conner.
Of course, it's an Xbox exclusive and I probably won't get a chance to play it.
