When I was a kid I played the hell out of Eye of the Beholder on the SNES. Might have been my first D&D based game. It didn't even come with a map so you had to memorize where everything was.
I was clicking links and last night and somehow managed to stumble onto this program called All Seeing Eye that adds an auto map to Eye of the Beholder 1&2 under Dosbox. It also gives you a full character editor, auto identifies items, and if you want will let you teleport all around the level and such.
I haven' touched Dosbox in forever but it took me less then 10 minutes to setup and get it running. There was no music in the game so I thought I did something wrong but get this because the floppy disk version didn't have a lot of space they cut the music. The SNES version had a few cool songs in it.
Neat little bit of nostalgia:

I have a confession to make, I've been playing Fallout 76. It's not perfect for sure, but I guess it's because I enjoyed Fallout 4 so much that I find myself enjoying it for the most part. Also built a kickass house. My session earlier lasted 4 hours before the servers went down for maintenance. Explored mostly, found some really cool stuff, also made a friend right before the server went down. I'm level 32 now. To each his own. I have a couple friends who played it hardcore after I refunded. I might be willing to play it again after 6 more months of patches and if I can get it on a steep sale. The game itself would've probably been much better received if Bethesda had just handled the launch better and been more honest, and also released it cheaper to begin with. They did too many lavish things like that $200 collector's edition, ended up having to go back and cheap out on components, which ended up constituting false advertising and then didn't even bother telling its customers. I think Bethesda may be in financial trouble. Could be why they jumped the gun with this game and released it as-is, and not delayed it to make it better. Someone at work actually asked me if they should get this game, I told them to wait for it to be cheap and have more in it. I have noticed a few songs no longer play on the radio (most noticeably "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" by Roy Rogers and Sons of the Pioneers), I think they had some copyright issues and quietly pulled a few songs from it. No matter though, there's a Fallout 76 playlist on Spotify with all those songs plus many more. It also has the John Denver version of "Country Roads" which I think is much better than the one they put in the game.

Doom was a huge success along with many other titles. Need to fire their entire business staff if thats the case.

I found some big town near the southeast corner of the map, it was full of Super Mutants. There must've been over a dozen of them, all higher level. They all grouped together and were all shooting at me at the same time. I was hiding on top of a roof, and the moment I would stick my head up, a barrage of bullets would come my way and I'd have to duck down. They were lobbing grenades up there too. I barely made it out of there alive, I had to limp away due to have a crippled leg. I really wanted that minigun one of them was carrying. This was the first time I was wishing I had some help. There were 2 other people there helping for a while, but then they left and I was on my own again. One mistake I made, I should've brought my power armor.
That was one of the best moments I've had in this game so far, it actually made me kind of angry that I just couldn't win that fight and had to retreat.

There's a demo out for the Resident Evil 2 remake, it can be downloaded on Steam. From what I've heard, it's only playable for 30 minutes (called a "one-shot" demo) and then you can't play it anymore. I'm gonna download it, might wait to play it though.
*edit* Apparently people have been speed running it, it's been completed in 3 minutes:

Some leaked footage of Metro Exodus
Speaking of making confessions, despite loving Stalker and Fallout and dark dreary post-apocalyptic stuff in general I never actually finished any of the Metro games. I have made plans, and even streamed them on twitch, but only made it like 2-3 hours into both of them.
I really hope Exodus scratches the Stalker itch

I just started playing the Resident Evil 2 demo, you only have 30 minutes so ofc I have been rushing it. I found a weapons keycard and crawled through a vent. I went to use the keycard and the damn thing was not in my inventory. I guess I didn't click ok when I found it or something I don't know. I figured there has to be a way to remove the time limit so I found this: comicbook.com/gaming/2019/01/12/resident-evil-2-demo-timer-removed-reset/

Finished the demo in 27:50.
Word to the wise, by default it does not max the visuals. I figured this out 5 minutes before the end. It defaulted to SSAO not HBAO+ and the textures were not maxed. All maxed it used 6.5 gigs of Video memory and looked a LOT better. Im really excited for the remake it looks and plays fantastic.

I really hope Exodus scratches the Stalker itch I think I remember reading that the Metro games were the result of some of STALKER's developers having creative differences and breaking off to start their own studio. It took me a while to really get into Metro 2033 but once I did, I could not put it down and then I played through Last Light pretty solidly. I might pre-order Exodus, supposed to be open world, which the previous 2 games weren't. *edit* I found an awesome weapon in FO76 called the Death Tambo, it's a metal tambourine with blades on it. Only weighs 3lbs and currently does 106 damage. It's funny too, because whenever you hit an enemy with it, it makes that "jingle" sound.

Looking to buy a 2560x1440 monitor tomorrow, this would be a great game to test it with. This monitor: www.asus.com/us/Monitors/PB277Q/There's a place near me that has it for $329 but they should pricematch with Amazon for $270.
I have an Asus monitor already that's 1080p, it still works great and the colors are brilliant.

I just got done hooking up the Asus PB277Q, immediately I can see a difference in resolution and brightness, compared to the 1080p monitor I was using as the main display before. I still have my other 2 monitors hooked up too, 3 displays total. Tried a few games on the new monitor, much more crisp for sure. Also tried Nvidia Surround but it lowers the resolution to 1920x1080 from 2560x1440 on the new one to match the other 2, which I don't like. I guess I would have to get 2 more monitors that also do 2560x1440, but I am pretty sure this PC could not handle that too well (3 1080p displays in surround mode = 5760x1080, so 3 2560x1440 displays would be 7680x1440), I would probably have to lower the graphics. I still might try it with surround in some games though.
*edit* I played the RE2 demo but ran out of time because I kept exploring everything. Also took some time adjusting settings before starting the actual game, hope that didn't count towards it. It was a very good demo though, might actually buy the game. Also I'm glad it's in 3rd person unlike RE7 (which I still very much enjoyed).
I switched to sRGB mode and turned blue light filter all the way up, looks great so far. The other 2 monitors have a very noticeable slight blue hue compared to this one, but my Asus 1080p 25" is still not as heavy on the blue compared to the other one (some 23" Dell screen, nothing special). I had to calibrate the Asus 25" back when I got it and was able to get a lot of the blue out. It's also darker compared to the other 2, but the darks are pretty deep. I dare say the 25" (VE258Q) still has the best dark levels compared to the others.

Not bad, might go for it. Remember when PC games were all $49.99? *edit* Wow, I signed in on GMG website and it's showing me a 25% discount now, brings it to $45. BTW I might exchange the Asus PB277Q for another monitor. It's fine and the price was really good, but I am disappointed with the black levels. It has terrible contrast ratio for gaming, dark areas of the screen look grey in games. I adjusted it as best I could but it still looks too bright. Not sure which monitor I will go with yet, but definitely 27" or greater, 2560x1440. Should have spent more to begin with, went with this particular one because it looks similar to my VE258Q, which has been great for gaming. This one is more for professional stuff rather than gaming. *edit* Well, I adjusted the settings more and was able to get rid of that that washed-out look, now it looks great (set to Game Mode, ASCR on, brightness 25, contrast 60) but I will probably adjust it further. I still have another week and a half to exchange it if I want to, but now I'm leaning more towards just keeping this one. My last monitor was 60hz, can't say I see much difference going to 75hz, but there have been a few times when I see the higher framerate. I was getting some stuttering and ghosting in some games, but switching to Fullscreen mode instead of Borderless Window fixed it.

Started RE2. Great so far. I prerecorded it with a discount so it only came out to $45, haven't had the chance to play it. Some people on reddit are actually calling in sick to work to play it. I'm not nearly that hardcore of an RE fan lol. Also a friend got me to play a free DAOC freeshard. DAOC classic was brutal to level on, it could take months to get the maximum level. Part of the freeshard is it takes something like 25% of the XP to get max level that it did on live back in the day. Its been a fun little nostalgia trip and only took me a week to get the maximum level but I'm not sure it can sustain my interest.

I don't know if anyone here has any interest in Dark Age of Camelot but a free server launched on January 15th with a really cool feature set. Freeshards are nothing new. I used to play on one that did its best to emulate the experience of DAOC in 2002, the problem with that is how brutal old MMOs were. It took a normal person 6+ months to get to level 50 and even the hardcore who would no-life it were looking at countless hours. The Phoenix freeshard instead greatly reduces the amount of XP needed to get level 50 while still requiring you to work for it. For example during the beta I got level 16 just dicking around in 3 hours. Dicking around for 3 hours would probably get you like level 5 or 6 on classic 2002 DAOC. Also many Quality of Life improvements have been made like teleporters, horses running 3x as fast as they used too, randomly generated loot, and a system called Phoenix feathers for end game loot. One of the biggest problems holding new players back from end game DAOC has always been end game gear. There is always a chance of bad raids and people stealing from you. On Phoenix you get feathers for every raid. If you for example kill the dragon 20 times you can then exchange those feathers for even the rarest items from the dragon. Again it makes it easier but you still have to work for it. Been fun: playphoenix.online/

Been enjoying RE2 and I am closing in on the end of Claires campaign, I found a combo to a safe at one point and even tho you can backtrack all the way to the start of the game I could not for the life of me figure out how the fuck to get back to the room with the safe. At that point in the game there are countless ladders and tunnels and jump off points and I could see where I wanted to go on the map but no dice. I spent half an hour running around and backtracking before I finally gave up. Also minor plot spoiler but I thought this was cool: {CLICK FOR SPOILER}At one point you get to play from the POV the the little girl Sherry, its a good little hide and seek horror moment.

So Apex Legend's came out of nowhere and hit 1 million players in 8 hours. Crazy.
I downloaded it and played one round, finished 13/20th. Went a lot better then my first game of PUBG.
Its way way faster then PUBG. I'm not sure if want to get into it or not.

Could be why EA's been giving so little shit about their other games recently. Last I looked, there wasn't even a Wikipedia page for that game yet.

I was wrong, there is a Wikipedia page for Apex Legends but for some reason, I can only find it through Respawn Entertainment's Wikipedia page and not a Google search. Apex Legends is free to play, I might give it a try. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apex_LegendsJedi Fallen Order does sound promising, hopefully it will finally be a Star Wars game that we all have been wanting since the early 2010's. Disney is saying they are happy with what EA is putting out: variety.com/2019/gaming/news/disney-video-game-star-wars-ea-1203129606/In that same article Disney admits that they've never been good at making videogames, which begs the question, why did they axe Lucasarts then?

It should be a step up from Battlefront.
But I doubt that it'll be on the level of KotR. Doesn't it sound absurd that a kid (even a Padawan nearing graduation) could plow through a clone army and then take on bosses (General Grevious, Maul, and Sidious)? lol.. I don't know what else they'd do with the plot, since Disney threw out most of the Lucas approved SW canon (besides the movies). I guess they'll have to make up new stuff entirely and get Disney's seal of approval throughout the dev process.

And to think, if Disney hadn't acquired Star Wars to make more movies, we'd probably still be getting great Star Wars games.

I thought I already posted about this, one of my biggest gaming regrets has been skipping DayZ. Back when DayZ came out my laptop at the time ran it at like 25 fps. Too slow to be competitive. I upgraded soon after that but was distracted by other things. In 2015 I tried to get into the mod but found out it was dead at that point and people were shitting all over the standalone version so again I skipped it.
One of my long time gaming friends who has 500 hours in Dayz got me to pick it up on sale. Been fun so far. Going from PUBG to DayZ has been interesting because you can clearly see how PUBG is based off of DayZ down to very similar UI elements and gameplay minus the Battle Royal concept.
Crazy it has no ingame map or ability to see each other when finding friends.
My first long game me and two friends went military base and got decked out. I logged in solo the next day and decided to test out my decked out SMG. I shot a zombie and multiple zombies rushed me from behind and beat me to death. Lost so much good gear bleh.
Its an interesting experience I see why people find it so addictive.
