And yet everyone is doing it. I'm not. I tried one game on my iPhone, hated the controls, and haven't played a game on my phone since.

When I got my first smart phone I played a really cool tower defense game that was perfectly optimized for touch controls. It wasn't gimped in anyway for not having mouse controls. I sat there for hours on it.
Sadly the company that made it stopped working on it and it is broken for newer OS, you can play but none of the unlocks or any other progress saves so when you quit the game you have to start over from scratch.

I could see how tower defense games would be more accessible on a mobile platform, compared to other genres.
Tower defense games don't hold my attention though. They're alright, but they leave me with the feeling my time could be better spent doing something else. I guess that's my attitude with video games in general and why I'm giving VR a try.

Finished episode 2 of Telltale's The Walking Dead: Final Season. Good story and all, and a major character from season 1 returns. This time they're trying to do more things where you can move freely during combat, it's not bad but still needs more to actually make it engaging. They (Telltale) should have worked more features like this into their previous games sooner, maybe they'd still be around if they did.
It was recently announced that Skybound Entertainment has taken over the game and will finish the remaining episodes.

So the first patch for Battlefield V dropped and holy shit it did a great job on FPS. The game feels far smoother and I never saw it go under 100 fps the entire time I was playing.

You can't really compare PSVR and PCVR, they serve two different demographics. I've been more than happy with the 2018 games I've been playing, there is some cross-over like Arizona Sunshine. Games like Dead and Buried, Pavlov, and Lone Echo are pretty amazing. I'm having a blast so far and $350 for the headset can't be beat.

Good point. People are lazy. But anyone with sense knows that gaming on a phone (touch screen controls) sucks. I've found that people who haven't put a headset up are pretty resistant to VR gaming. Up until the point where they put one on and go....OOoooh so that's what it's all about! I have no idea why Cop is trying to compare phones with VR gaming except he's just being defeatist for no good reason.

I am just in no rush to adopt it especially since we have all these competing headsets. Its analogous to when 3D became a thing in 1995/96. You all all these crazy cards out and some were amazing and some were pure shit. By 2001 the market had stabilized and the crap had dropped away.

They're either lazy or worried about social perceptions. It'll take really good marketing to help people overcome their fears and give VR a chance. Remember back in the 80's to early 90's, when you were considered a geek if you played any kind of video games. Now it's more of a mainstream hobby. Cop does some of his gaming on a PS Vita. As we all know, the Vita was less than a stellar success (defeated by people choosing to game on smart phones instead, etc.) despite the Vita being a superior gaming platform (in terms of hardware anyway)... so I get where he's coming from, generally speaking, regarding people passing over superior tech & gameplay. Edit: Or Sony themselves killed the Vita, according to this...

I've actually used an Oculus recently and I was impressed (not so much by the resolution though) but I was (and still am) a fan of 3D too and we all know how that turned out. Even though just about every television on the market supported 3D a few years ago, and a bunch of games/movies became available in the format, it still flopped, the biggest complaint being: "I don't want to wear glasses to watch a movie/play a game " Now all of a sudden strapping on a gigantic headset (which is reported to cause all kinds of motion sickness to boot) is not going to be a problem, and not only that, it all needs to be bought and paid for separately whereas most televisions that supported 3D came with all the required peripherals and the consoles already supported it through software updates with no extra cost... Consider me sceptical.

I dunno if anyone's been keeping up with what's going on with Fallout 76, but it just keeps getting worse and worse for Bethesda. They just can't seem to stop shooting themselves in the foot: www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/a3iojs/i_didnt_think_it_could_get_any_worse_for_bethesda/First there's the issues with the game itself, then the whole thing with the bag that came with the collector's edition, and now more recently there was a glitch with their ticketing system that exposed people's personal information. *edit* On a more positive note, this looks awesome: New game from Obsidian (who made Fallout New Vegas). It's being made by the original Fallout developers and the developers of Fallout New Vegas.

However, at the end of the ad, near the bottom they list the platforms (PS4, Xbox, Steam). I guess they didn't want to miss out on sales from the PS4's huge user base. Maybe they're thinking this gen of consoles is nearing the end of its cycle, so exclusives aren't as important. But that just leaves Sony still being dominate in the exclusives dept.

Fallout 76 should not have been released as is, Bethesda should have seen that it was not up to par and took it back to the drawing board. Some years back, they were making Prey 2 and ended up canceling it, because they were concerned about the quality of it. They ended up making an entirely new Prey game, which came out last year. It's pretty good.
Bethesda might be in financial trouble, could be why they went ahead and released it, hoping it would net them some money. One thing's for sure, there have been quite a few games released lately that are just not up to par.

Those type of ppl should back off. What good is a game released early or on schedule if it sucks?

I had pre-ordered FO76 from best Buy and it came with a free steelbook case, but the game itself didn't even come with a disc, just a download code. It is a very nice looking case, guess I'll just put it up for display. Might put my Fallout New Vegas disc in it.

It is a very nice looking case, guess I'll just put it up for display. Might put my Fallout New Vegas disc in it. They're basically doing the same thing with PS4 games too. For gold steelbook editions or other special editions, you get the steelbook case, base game, and a download code for any additional content. You buy a physical copy, then they give you the base game (at best) & download codes, which defeats the purpose of buying the physical copy to begin with. So eventually, when the servers go down, the company goes out of biz, or whatever, you lose all the extra content you paid for. www.target.com/p/assassin-s-creed-odyssey-steelbook-gold-edition-playstation-4/-/A-53718170?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Video%2BGames_Priority%2BShopping&adgroup=Video%2BGames_Priority+TCINs&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9013478&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&ds_rl=1246978&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-9nL_oaP3wIVjoJpCh0lvwToEAQYAiABEgLbNPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.dsCompilations too... I read a BestBuy customer review on the recent Spyro Trilogy. They advertise "3 Games in One!", but it's actually 1 physical game and 2 download codes (for Spyro 2 and 3). lol www.spyrothedragon.com/Same thing with MegaMan compilations on the Nintendo Switch. They give u half the games on physical media and the other half are downloads. But with the PS4 version, you get all the games on one disc, so that's the version to get. Not to mention all of the day 1 patches that fix otherwise fuxor'd "AAA" games on the same day of release. So when the server goes down or the game is no longer supported, you're left with a day 1 physical copy that's shit (with no options to download the patches). These anti-consumer trends in gaming are starting to turn me off from modern gaming. Honestly, I've been thinking of converting to retro gaming only, since I don't have the time to keep up with all the new games anyway.

Same reason I don't like streaming movie services. You can never be sure what movies you can watch because they may come and go as the company pleases. Try and watch Louis CK shows on Netflix for example.

At least Netflix is marketed correctly as a service. When you buy a physical copy of a game, the whole premise is that you own a copy of the game.
As consumers, we should be wary of spending too much on temporary services. Before purchasing a game, ask yourself, is this game worth $60 (or $100+, for the special edition) considering that it's probably a long-term rental? Maybe better wait a year or two, and pick it up when the price drops to $20 or less. Alternatively, subscribe to a VPN and buy an Nvidia Shield TV, USB storage device, Xbox controller. Then download a ton of emulators & roms for free.

In some cases, you don't even have to do anything for a game to be deleted from your library. I bought Diablo 3 (digital download for PS4) from the Playstation store. Some time later, after it was re-released (Eternal Edition or something), the digital copy vanished from my PS library!

I requested District 9 and Shaun of the Dead on Netflix a few months ago and now they have them. It's possible that other people were requesting those same movies too.
