Metro Exodus has been pulled from Steam and is now only available on the Epic Games Store, however, anyone who pre-ordered on Steam before it was pulled will still get it and all future DLC there. I found another article saying that this deal is only until 2020 and then it will be available on Steam again; gadgets.ndtv.com/games/news/metro-exodus-exits-steam-for-a-year-moves-to-epic-games-store-1984782Looks like I will be waiting until 2020 to buy this game now. I really hate needing multiple platforms on PC to be able to play games: Steam Uplay Origin Epic Games Store Bethesda.net This is too many now, and that's not even all of them I think.

Its pretty dumb I agree. That being said Steam being a monopoly is only good for Valve and not you or I. Hopefully this whole thing cause some kind of price war and lead to lower prices for consumers.

Hopefully this whole thing cause some kind of price war and lead to lower prices for consumers. I agree. I guess that's why I sometimes buy games from gog.com instead (usually, when there's a really good sale) and Playstation store (when reviews say the PC port sucks or it's a PS4 exclusive). That and the fallacy of "putting all your eggs in one basket" applies. If your go-to site goes down, you'd lose all your games on that site.

You know it's funny, in another thread I mentioned how PC games used to all cost $49.99 and that's what it's priced on EGS. That being said, I have thought about just buying it on EGS. I felt the same way about Origin and still do, but agree that Steam does need some competition. I like that all these services give out free games occasionally. Also Epic Games has a great history (they made Unreal), plus they are older than Valve. It's not like they don't deserve to have their own digital service too. *edit* I read another article today saying that Koch Media were the ones (solely) responsible for the deal with EGS: variety.com/2019/gaming/news/thq-nordic-metro-exodus-epic-store-was-all-koch-media-1203122148/Maybe it's Valve's fault that this happened, they should have made a deal first. I'm hoping that the backlash from Steam users will cause this game to not sell very well and they will go down on the price even more. *edit* Wow: www.altchar.com/games-news/587070/deep-silver-faces-false-advertising-accusations-over-metro-exodus

I don't even know what Metro Exodus is.... :/ Is that where people flee the high taxes, and scary streets, of American cities?

I only played Metro 2033 (if that was the year in the title). I remember it looking pretty good but I didn't have a lot of fun playing it. Completed it the once (or twice from a save near the end because of different endings), never went back.

Completed it the once (or twice from a save near the end because of different endings), never went back. Its made by former STALKER devs and I really like the atmosphere I just could never force myself to sit and play it very long. I thought about using a trainer to give myself endless bullets and buy crazy gear at the beginning of the game but ended up just deleting it to save drive space. I'm probably going to pick this one up tho.

The atmosphere and survival aspects of these games was what I really enjoyed, plus the story gets really good. The Redux versions have an added difficulty level called Ranger, it completely removes the HUD and makes the game super immersive and more difficult. They have both Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux on GOG.com, not currently on sale but they are DRM free on there. Someday, they might have Exodus on there DRM free as well.
TIL that Epic Games has an F rating on BBB, looks like many of the complaints have to do with Fortnite mtx's, account issues (people being banned for no apparent reason), and Epic Games Store. Yet another reason I will probably steer clear of buying it from there.

Yet another reason I will probably steer clear of buying it from there. We were discussing problems with Zenimax Media (owners of Bethesda Softworks, Id Software, etc) and the big quarter of billion $'s lawsuit they've been involved in, so I was curious. I looked them up on BBB and they also got an F rating on BBB. www.bbb.org/us/md/rockville/profile/computer-hardware/zenimax-media-inc-0241-3729Electronic Arts actually has an A+ rating, though not accredited by BBB. Now if they can just figure out how to make a decent Star Wars game. www.bbb.org/us/ca/redwood-city/profile/wholesale-video-games/electronic-arts-inc-1116-64196UBISoft (another one I see ppl bitching about in reviews all the time) - A+ rated and accredited. www.bbb.org/us/ca/san-francisco/profile/computer-hardware/ubisoft-entertainment-inc-1116-13891

Sony and Nintendo both got A+.
Nintendo closed their online Wii Store just recently, even though the company has been doing very well financially. Evidently, the BBB ratings and success of the company are no guarantees that your digital games library won't go bye-bye sooner or later.
Sony are greedy rat bastards, with the expensive proprietary products (formats and memory cards) and quickly abandoning products that aren't instantly successful (like the PS Vita and PSTV). But as far as I can tell, they have yet to intentionally trash online digital content. I've seen one or two games drop from my PSN library, but most of it's still intact.

Damn, Valve is so bad, they've got 3 profiles on there that are all F. Probably not enough people use Origin or Uplay to matter.
Origin does have a very good refund policy last I saw.
I dunno, I've been using Steam since 2004 and never really had any serious problems with it. My biggest complaint is that if I want to play Mass Effect 2, installing the DLC's for it is kind of a pain. Also back in its early days, when games wouldn't launch and the error would say "this game is unavailable" or something like that. Haven't seen that happen in a long time though.

I was just looking at Origin's site yesterday, to see what games I own on there. I noticed they have a subscription based service for $30/year, which might be a good deal (if the games can be downloaded to your hdd/ssd, not streamed as with "Playstation Now" and other game subscription services, since they say those services tend to be laggy). www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/origin-access

Steam has a refund policy too I've heard, but it didn't work for me in practice. I once tried to get some Steam games refunded that I had zero hours play-time (that I probably owned on another platform) and Steam refused because the games were in my account too long or something. Amazon Prime is much better about refunding digital content. I once had them refund a movie, so I could buy it on another account. They didn't give me the slightest hassle. Edit: I owned the movie for long time and watched it too (Tron Legacy). I wanted it moved to my Amazon personal account, from my Amazon business account. But the dude at Amazon just refunded it and said I could re-purchase it at the lower price (the movie costs about half the price as when it first released).

Sony aren't dicks about refunds either. I had Sony rewards points accumulated and ordered a physical game from their site. www.rewards.sony.com/The game case arrived damaged. I requested an exchange. Instead, they just sent me another copy of the game and they didn't even want the original one back. The second one was damaged in the same way. It's their fault for packing the games in those thin vanilla envelopes. I explained this and I asked that they refund my rewards points after the 2nd damaged game and they refunded the points no problem. Hopefully, they take note of Amazon's success and start packing their merchandise more securely.
