I was thinking today what's the forum I've been registered to the longest that's still up and running... 3dfxgamers was the first forum I ever registered to and Madonion.com (which later switched to Futuremark and then Yougamers of course) was the second forum I ever registered to so I figured I'd go give it a look (haven't been there in probably a good 5 years) and low and behold there was a message that they closed down the forum just this past December. I remember back in the day that place was booming with people trying to outdo each other for the highest scores. Guess that got old, lol. But yea, that was otherwise a pretty popular PC tech forum back in the day...sad that it's gone. Going from there, I don't think I can remember what the oldest forum is now that I registered to that's still up and running.... nvnews is gone, maybe Rage3d? Hmm.... good question. What forum have you guys been registered to the longest that's still up and running today? Now that 3dfxgamers, Madonion/Futuremark/Yougamers, MotocrossMadnessCentral, and nvnews is gone, I honestly can't remember which one would come next. I guess I could log into all the old ones still up and running and see my registration/join date? Not tonight, don't feel like it, lol.

Probably that movie board I moderate is the oldest that's still up. It's gone through a few names but it's still there even though I sometimes wish it wasn't. The cool people I used to hang out with in real life have all left over the years and the current batch I don't even want to know. Bunch of cinephile whiners. We did movie nights at someone's house where we watched hilariously bad or over-the-top movies (Story of Ricky and stuff like that), they (tried to) do the same but with some old ass cinephile 'masterpiece' in some art wank movie theatre. Where's the fun in that?

Oldest forum I was on was the old Tom's Hardware forum on Delphi in like 1997. After that shut down it moved to a clone of Delphi called Webvelosix.
Then the posters there lost their mind and all got into far right conspiracy nonsense and stupid drama. I stopped posting there completely in 2003. I would check in like once a year and it dropped down to 1 post a month if that. Everyone from the 1997 days moved on.
At some point in 2016 it died for good. Been so long I only remember a couple of their names.

Also speaking of 3DMark I haven't run it in over 10 years and I have no idea what it even looks like these days.
I don't see many websites using it and the old debate over using 3dmark to judge real world performance I guess is what drove it into the ground so to speak.
Remember Nvidia and ATI using specific nasty driver hacks to make 3DMark run faster but it had zero effect on actual games? Yeah. Quite silly.

I registered at a few others a long time ago, place like doom9, and rage3d, that are also still around. Plus the obscure ones that require joining so you can ask a question. Ha, I joined one that turned out to be on the hit list of Anonymous, who then posted my email addy and password. It was a forum that answered questions about making sure no software had installed a rootkit. Remember when that was a thing? The site's owner was a government contractor as part of his day job, and anonymous didn't like some of the work he did. Pretty wild, right?
