Pretty spooky! If you ever played Clive Barker's Undying, you'll find a familiar vibe, and some familiar "tricks". Different kind of narrative and gameplay though, that was a shooter.

Is that that walking simulator that has you walking through a house while supposedly spooky shit happens and that has you die when the game says 'don't look back' and you look back?

Is that that walking simulator that has you walking through a house while supposedly spooky shit happens and that has you die when the game says 'don't look back' and you look back? www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/editorials/reviews/15403-Layers-of-Fear-Review#&gid=gallery_5624&pid=1kotaku.com/layers-of-fear-is-the-one-of-the-biggest-horror-surpris-1727798873No. But I'm only a hundred minutes into it. It oozes style .... and blood!!! lol If you enjoyed exploring the creepy mansion in Undying, you'll enjoy this. The pacing is relentless, and the visuals are intended to mess with you, so that's a big part of the horror, and the way it has a physical effect. Walking simulators are casual, this plays against that. You have to work a bit in order to interact with the environment so as to trigger the game to keep advancing. All the elements work together to give you the feel of being in the mind of a madman. Were you thinking of Soma? That's not in a house but if you make eye contact with the malevolent force tracking you, it kills you. Oh wait, Amnesia, or Outlast, might be like what you describe. I've got both, but I was put off a bit by having to struggle in the dark and didn't make much headway. Edit: Lol, I just found the "Wuss-Mod" for Soma. I'm more than half way through, and like some reviewers, I find the monster attacks as non-essential to the gaming being good. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=560988617That link also has a mega link download for us GOG users.

Lol, ok. I've seen the guys from cinemassacre play it. Not for me, too little happens. I was at a friend's last night and played some "Getting Over it with Bennett Foddy" which was interesting but probably not for me and "Super Hot" which definately was for me. That's something I might get for a few bucks...

There's stuff to look at but the design of the rooms and hallways promotes moving fast. I finished the game in 4 hours according to Steam, and I tend to stop to admire how a game is put together. I checked a walkthrough and I missed some collectibles, and some stuff that can alter the details of the ending, but not so much that I mind. I guess the sale is over, but it might come back, as there's a sequel they'd like to sell. It is of its genre, so if one's not in the mood for that, then this game isn't special enough to rise above its class.

Ha, the sequel is on sale for 99 cents. Beautiful colors, and its advertised as having fewer jump scares. And it's also supposed to be a lot shorter in length (And the first game was quite short!). I was thinking of American McGee, and Alice. She could jump right into the opening playroom sequence. It looks like the game is about revealing the backstory of the original. Very nice looking so far, and not lacking in fun.
